My Little Pony and Care Bears Crossover?

Looking at it right off the bat, MLP:FIM shares similarities with the care Bear series, where Ponies have "cutie marks", the bears have "Belly Badges", MLP has pastel ponies, Care Bears have pastel bears, the Ponies capital city Canterlot sounds an awful lot like "Care-a-Lot", the city the bears live in, and of course, both series have messages on friendship, caring, and all that.

(personally, I'd like to see Oopsy Bear and Derpy both together and get a chance to have their "oopsies" (or as Rarity calls them..."BooBoos") save the day)

would y'all want an MLP series crossover with the care bears? (probably being released direct to DVD, if it ever happens, as I can't see it being an actual full-length series or hitting theaters) ):

If it were to happen, the care bears would need a serious update. As far as I know they are still in the 80s, overloaded with kids show cliches and rather than the everyday/more realistic(relatively) slice of life episodes that FiM is known for they have the 1980s rainbow bright plots with villains named dark heart. It could work, but in order for the bears to really compare to the mane 6, they would need a serious face lift.

The only concern that I have is creating a update to the Care Bears that sufficiently keeps some of the original themes, allows for some semblance of complexity, but doesn't appear derivative of FiM. You don't want a crossover that where characters are nearly indistinguishable from one another.

That said, the second Care Bears film did have some touches of that old 80's darkness at times. It is a plausible idea if done right.

They are similar to MLP in a lot of aspects except for one major thing, the characters from MLP are interesting and have personalities, the care bears are all bland and uninteresting, so no I don't think it's a good idea.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

@chirox the pony, with the exception of a handful of characters I agree that they were overall bland. Playing devils advocate here, the earlier generations of MLP did have their issues with creating detailed and robust characters (though the villains were superb). While I worry about having that Lion character being too much like an RD clone making a crossover nothing more than a match up of like characters, I think if they establish a new Care Bears show first ... it could work.

Well until that day comes(which doesn't seem anywhere in sight)I'm going to keep hating care bears(although not actively)and make sure that love bear(or whatever they're called)doesn't come anywhere near Pinkie Pie.

Welp, I'm having flashbacks to the 'bellybros' now :eww:

The two franchise might have some similarities in certain components, but even in their 1st gen they have a very different feel to each of them. Does care bears even have gens? Hell if I know... but something about the bears always ticked me off. I won't mind a crossover as long as M.A. Larson will be the one who's writing it.

Along with Care Bears needing an update, they're owned by American Greetings which is not a Hasbro affiliate as far as I know, so there would be licensing issues.

Also upon reading up on them, they originally appeared on greeting cards before they were toys. Weird.

well they recently collabed with Sanrio, putting the Care bears with Kiki and Lala, the little Twin Stars, so maybe they can do the same with My Little Pony? -shrug- Who Knows? And maybe that'll be just what either American greetings or DHX (if they get the green light to work with that other company) to make a fresh, new Care Bear generation that pitches it at a slightly older audience (as ponies did with the Bronies)

Nope, never, not in a million years...... I cannot stand those bears, it is my quest to destroy all of them before they can scar another generation of children with their horrible pandering tactics. If they ever touched MLP I would lose all hope in humanity.

Wouldn't be surprised if that already happened in an earlier generation

I don't think we could really bear it now though... in general tone they're kind of polar opposites, not like it'd be really pandaring to anyone in particular. Wouldn't be too grizzly.
