The Amblezon Jungle. Never has a pony ever set hoof in a more hostile landscape. How could the windigos of the Northern Expanse even hope to compare to the hinkypunks that feed on the despair of the wayward traveler? How could the mighty hydras of the Everfree Forest hope to be more fearsome than the mighty nundu, the fearsome maned leopard whose very breath reeks of death? How could the demons locked in Tartarus hope to inspire the same fear in ponies as do even the very trees that inhabit this jungle, collectively called the yateveo, which have been known to eat ponies alive and whole?
 
With the swarms of flesh-eating, hive-minded gnats; kelpies that take every shape and form lurking in the waterways, and the mischievous erklings that sabotage the unwary, among other things, it can be easy to forget the natural beauties of the jungle due to the monstrosities that call the place their home.
 
Legend has it that the jungle is such a deadly place for good reason. It has been said that the monsters and demons and shadows are not there by coincidence, but that they have been placed there to defend whatever lies at the heart of the jungle, a place never seen by anypony who lived to tell the tale. Until now.
 
The best and brightest from all corners of Equestria have been selected to delve deeper into the Amblezon Jungle than anypony ever has in all of recorded history, to find the mythical Heart of the Jungle.  And they will succeed, or die trying.

 

 

You were lucky enough to be included among those few ponies included on the expedition into the Heart of the treacherous Amblezon Jungle, around which the most fantastical rumours fly. But don't let the fantastic tales of treasure at the heart distract you from the fact that, underneath the steaming jungle canopy, the lost ruins of ancient giants, sheltered isolated tribes, bloodthirsty predators, and screaming hordes of demon-worshiping apes await you. For the jungle is a living, breathing entity, and it’s always hungry...

 

 

 

 

This RP starts with all the ponies gathering in the ancient coastal city of Timbucktu, in the Zebran Desert, from where they will take a ship to the Amblezon Jungle, and attempt to find its fabled heart. There will be many dangers along the way, and you must be prepared.

 

Your pony must bring whatever weapons it needs to survive, as well as a good supply of water and food, a copy of the book Legends of the Jungle that will be provided, and will provide details on all known jungle predators, and whatever skills your pony has to offer that might increase chances of the group's survival. Remember, nopony's ever seen the center and lived to tell the tale...

 

 

 

Rules:

 

1. No alicorns will be accepted. I will accept alicorn characters if they consent to be a unicorn or a pegasus instead.

 

2. Non-ponies will likely be accepted, as long as I don't have good reason to deny them.

 

3. Remember, this RP is just as much survival as it is adventure. If your OC is injured, it won't recover overnight, and if your OC dies, well, tough luck buddy. You're out. And the odds of us bumping into another one of your OCs, just because, are pretty low.

 

4. Please, please, please try to use proper grammar. 

 

5. No Power Play. If you attempt to power play, I'll be forced to power play in response. So no controlling other people's OC's or the Jungle, in extension. That's up to me. 

 

6. As I said, the Jungle is just as much an active character in this as your OC's are. If you attempt to control the Jungle, bad things will typically happen.

 

7. Romances are allowed, but keep it under control. The journey is a priority; I mean, it's only an incredibly deadly jungle. What's the worst that could happen if you take your guard down for ten seconds to give somepony a kiss? By extension of that logic, don't let any possible relationship get to the point where time skips are even necessary. So no NSFW content.

 

8. Try to keep references to other RPs to a minimum if you can. I know I'm a hypocrite.

 

9. The book Legends of the Jungle will be, in-RP, your chance to suggest what creatures might pop out of the jungle onto unsuspecting ponies. You can invent anything you want to take place within the pages of this book. The jungle will be under my direct control, and if I happen to like an entry that your OC reads out of the book, we might incorporate it later on. However, even if I do use a beast or creature you suggest through making up entries in the book, remember Rule 6.

Survival Skills: Incredibly well developed, considering he has to explore uncharted territories as his job. Can - and has - survived by himself in rather hostile and harsh environments, such as the Northern Tundra, and the centre of the Zebran Desert. Made it halfway to the Amblezon's centre once before.

Perhaps I will participate, but I'm not sure. Agririon's undergoing a bit of construction work, but maybe we could use him since he is in the other roleplay. A way for Agririon and Evergreen to at least be on 'not kill each other' attitudes. Maybe, maybe, maybe...

 

What's your input on this? Do you prefer a flesh and blood pony? Maybe I could come up with some sort of nature spirit, maybe?

If you want to use Agririon, I don't see why you shouldn't. Establish the odd relationship between them a bit more firmly. This should chronologically come before tJtM, then?

 

I'd kinda prefer flesh and blood, but nature spirits would be fine. They wouldn't really have much control over the environment here, if that would happen to be their thing. Just like in the Everfree Forest, the Amblezon doesn't seem to run by the normal rules.

 

I might take you up on that co-DM offer. Let's see how this goes, first.

Motivation: As this area of the world has never been pierced by the specters that collect souls, Agririon has been sent with the task of recovering as many of the souls of the fallen as possible on the expedition. A secondary objective would to meet with and, to a lesser extent, protect the floramancer known as Evergreen, who he has been informed will be exceedingly important in the future, although the situation in question is unknown, he wishes to ensure her survival.

Weapons: Scythe, rapier. Will use a machete as well.

Survival Skills: Naturally strong. Knows the biology of a pony's body, so can perform effective first aid. Can perform emergency energy transfusions.

I intend to limit his teleportation abilities, because of the natural magic of the forest, as well as the fact that there are probably no five cubic feet of clear area in the entire jungle. That, and because teleportatoing out of danger is cheap.

Motivation: A sum large enough to pay off his student loans. Unbeknownst to him, though, he is merely being played by the local gang who is hiring him to get their names in the history books in the expedition is a success.

Weapons: A pair of knives that he was trained in as a favor. He can use them reasonably well in self defense, but he is not a warrior in any way, shape or form.

Survival Skills: Medical expertise, as well as camping and (surprisingly) cooking. He attributes this to being a Colt Scout when he was younger.

You're good! Accepted. Although, I would like to clarify about Silver Lung... Since nopony really knows what's at the Center of the Jungle, he can't really be guaranteed that money. Nopony's sure whether there's actually any treasure there or anything. Nopony's ever been to the Heart and came back to tell the tale. Is this a case of the gang's paying him when he gets back, if he gets back? Or is he hoping to find artifacts and treasure on the journey?

It would be the first one. An if-when. Besides, the gang doubts he'll come back, they just failed to mention that to him. It's more of a just in case they get lucky and do manage to come back. Besides, they're taking a floramancer to her natural habitat, so it's just that much more likely.

The Jungle's natural magic typically resists Eve's efforts to manipulate the environment. Depends on what plant exactly it is she's trying to manipulate.

Talents: Bare-knuckle brawler, hunter, survivalist, meat-cook , insane amount of the strength, terrain manipulator ( due to the power of the soul within his sword. However, I expect this ability to be restricted HEAVILY, or quite even non-existent.) , intimidating.

 

Motivation: Sent by his superiors to investigate what is at the heart of the jungle, and why it causes excessive gatherings of malfested beings. Also, there is game to hunt, and he can never turn down a challenge, or a chance to hunt game worthy of his time.

 

Weapons:

A special Zweihander imbued with the soul of a powerful primordial force of nature. Due to potential hunting, he has also brought along a pretty sizable bow, along with about twenty arrows to start. His last weapons are also his favorites. FISTS O STEEL!!!!

 

 

 

Survival skills: having been a hunter for much of his life, Lorec could potentially learn to live in a hostile enviornment and never need to return to civilization. Basic directional skills and common sense knowledge ( like moss always grows on the north side of a tree.) he can tan hides, cook meat, and virtually many other things that facilitate the need to survive. His sword, being inhabited by what it is, gives him control over the earthen element. He can potentially erect a stone wall in order to force a predator to slam into it or escape, along with manipulating elevation of soil, albeit limited to allow access to otherwise unreachable areas.

He has trained his senses, elevating his hearing and feeling to allow for better threat detection and hunting results.

@,Sounds good. You're in.

 

The normal rules don't work in the Amblezon, so all magic (such as that that's in Lorec's sword) is going to be nerfed, but it'll still work to some extent. Also, the environment is pretty closed due to the simple amount of foliage and et cetera, so pegasi naturally have difficulty navigating through the air through the thick branches, and it just gets worse the farther up you get. A tall character like your minotaur might have difficulties navigating or fighting bare-knuckles in some places due to the constricted environment. 

 

These aren't criticisms, just something to take note of. There'll be places where Lorec sinks in mud or else has to hunch over so that he isn't taking branches and leaves to the face and upper chest.

His insanity mainly revolves around the voices in his head, but there are also other things, like how he perceives different things. As long as what the voices tell him aren't completely suicidal, he'll tend to listen to them. The voices don't tend to control his daily life, usually only talking to him in moments of 'opportunity', such as the jungle in this case. As for trust issues, as I said, he perceives things differently. In his mind, someone who acts kind or caring is impossible, and only a mask, whereas someone who is rude and disrespectful is real, and mostly trustworthy. Still, he doesn't trust many people, even if they do fit that description.
