What would MLP:FiM be like if it originated from these places?

If MLP:FiM was not produced in America (or by Lauren Faust), but from someone else from any one of these places:

* 1950's America

* England (with BBC or ITV's help)

* Japan (not as a foreign dub, but from a Japanese producer)

... how will their versions' content be any different from the actual show's content?

I guess if it were from the UK, the dialogue and visuals would be very clean with limited pop culture references and less humor, but more focus on the story and less focus on commercialism. Additionally, Equestria would resemble the British Isles or the whole of Europe rather than North America.

If it were from Japan, it would pretty much be the Japanese dub on steroids, with lots of the usual anime tropes.

I couldn't imagine this show possibly coming from the 50s here in North America, but if it had come out in the 90s I could see the show possibly fitting in almost as-is, except in traditional animation instead of Flash. Studio B/DHX was nowhere near as big back then as it is now, so if the show had to be produced at a Canadian studio I would have put it at Nelvana.

Could you provide some examples, from a typical episode from each one?

I'm better at describing general trends from each. I don't know about the Japanese version, you might have to ask someone who's more familiar with anime.

I'm sure if the show was British, references such as the Big Lebowski ponies and the Fear and Loathing reference in "Three's a Crowd" likely would not have happened, but continuity would be stronger and events such as "A Canterlot Wedding" and "Magical Mystery Cure" definitely would have had a better setup.

Overall, I find the British kids' TV industry to take its messages much more seriously than the American industry does, and to have a much lesser focus on commercialism (with the exception of HIT Entertainment), so I think upholding the quality of the show would have been first priority.
