i actually just bought horizan, but im a bit at a loss as to move to a diffrent system, dont get me wrong, i know how to move from place to place, but im trying to make money and my starter ship wont warp to the misson place because it exceeds fuel amounts

Best way to start is probably with a little bit of trade, just from one system to another just next to it.

Once you have enough money to get a small decent little combat ship I would suggest doing bounties at a low or normal resource extraction zone, that way the local security service will show up to help kill wanted AI.

Going from the Federal Dropship (Low maneuverability, very tank like though) back to the ASP explorer, this gif was all too accurate.

Think I am going to do more exploring with it now I properly outfitted it for such.

I'm going to look into this game, because this just sounds awesome.  :grin2:

I really like space and exploring, so I think this is a fun game to play!

(I'm buying it as I'm typing this. :D)

EDIT: Gotta get that 50% new year's discount.

The game is currently half off on Steam.  Unfortunately, the user reviews are less than stellar.  Here is a quote from the first one:

"Oh... my... God. Is it really you? Commander Zigglepants?"

"Yeah. Heh. Nice to meet a fan."

"I can't believe it. I've always wanted to be a space pilot like you. You've done EVERYTHING. How did you get started?"

"Well, believe it or not my first job was doing delivery runs."

"Really? That must have been tedius."

"It was. And the pay was terrible. You'd accept a mission in one star system and do nothing but hop from star system to star system for an hour or more before accepting your tiny payment.

"Sounds pretty bad."

"Yeah. I only did that for a short time before I got into smuggling."

"Oh, cool. Sneaking into heavily armed facilities with illegal cargo? That sort of thing?"

"Exactly. Although you only do the sneaking at the end bit of your journey. The rest of it was just as dull as the deliveries. And even the sneaking was only fun the first few times. After that it became pretty routine. The pay was a lot better, though."

"So how did you become a famous bounty hunter?"

"I'm afriad the stories are exaggerated. I took my first contract at my local station. It told me to fly to a nearby star and hunt down a notorious pirate."

"Did you get him?"

"No. I showed up at the star and he wasn't there. I flew around scanning promising signals, but each one turned out to be a dud. To make it worse, it took about 10 minutes to fly between each signal and there wasn't much to do in the meantime. After a few hours of this, the contract expired."

"That's too bad."

"Yeah, the next few contracts turned out the same so at that point I gave up, bought a warrant scanner, and decided to go freelance."

"What does that mean?"

"Well, it means you sit in one place next to a navigation beacon or resource extraction point, and hope to catch pirates if they show up."

"Neat. How many did you catch?"

"None. It took me about an hour to pick up the scanner and fly to a promising system. Then I waited around for a few hours scanning ships but no pirates showed up. Well, a couple did... but none of them came out of supercruise. After a few nights of this, I decided to dump the stupid scanner into the sun. When I got home, I received a strange message. Someone wanted to hire me to carry some mystery cargo to a certain sector and wait for further instructions."

"Did you take the job?"

"Of course! It seemed like the first interesting thing that had happened to me as a space commander. Yeah, I accepted the job and headed out to the sector they named. Took a lot of time to get there. Then I started waiting for my contact."

"Who was it?"

"I dunno. He never showed. I waited around for a couple hours and eventually the mission expired. I did get to fight some pirates, ironically. It seems like they really wanted that cargo, whatever it was. They should have just asked. After waiting around for a few hours, I tossed it into the sun too. Hold on, I have a customer."

Commander Zigglepants turns away and talks into his headset.

"Hello, welcome to McSpaceport. Can I take your order? Combo #2? That will be 4,000 credits. First window, please." He turns back. "Sorry about that."

"No problem. So you work a drive-through window now?"

"This is WAY more fun. Trust me."

"You know what, I still think I want to be a space commander."

"Suit yourself... but can I offer a word of advice?"

"Please!"

"You're going to spend most of your time travelling and waiting around, so bring a video game to keep yourself entertained."

"Got it."

"...and make sure it's NOT Elite: Dangerous."

The thing is, having played Eve Online, I can believe that a space based MMO could certainly turn out this way.  What is everybody else's experience with this game?  Is it really this dull?

There is a fair bit to do in it, but it is quite a grind.

If you are coming from Eve this is a boiled down comparison.

It appears that Horizons will be making its way to the Xbox One soon! :3 Frontier confirmed that Horizons will be making its way to that platform in Q2 of 2016, which is way more promising than the original 'before Q4' prediction.

Consider me extremely pumped. ^___^ This game is wonderful, but it needs a bit more to it and I think this will be an amazing start for that. Plus, landing on planets. <3

If my sources are correct, Horizons will be on Xbox One on 3rd June.

On a side note the 1.6 update has been both good and bad, the additions of new weapons, mining commodities, upgraded UI's, revamped mining, and prep for Horizons are all great, but the upgraded NPC AI? Well it's great that they aren't idiots anymore but now combat-centred means of income are a lot harder as the AI are capable of flying their ships scarily effectively. Because of that I've temporarily switched to mining until further notice.

Yup, this coming Friday, and I am PUMPED! ^-^ So incredibly excited. Has the engineers update been fully implemented to PC already too? :o That is another part of this huge update that I am excited about, as it seems like it will add much more depth to the game's mission structure and so on.

Sucks to hear that about the combat though, I already hated the combat and that sounds like I will never be touching it. I only do exploration/Delivery/Mining stuff anyways, but it is a shame for those that love the combat aspect. Maybe more balancing will happen later on.

Engineers has come out for PC, and the groundworks for it have been laid on Xbox One, meaning it will already be part of Horizons for us.

Apparently they're going to do a few tweaks to the game in an upcoming patch, so I'll have to wait until then to see whether or not this combat issue is resolved, and whether or not I essentially have to learn to fly again. Saying that, mining is quite relaxing and when Horizons comes out all I'm going to be doing is landing on planets, so it doesn't really make a difference.

Horizons has launched on Xbox One, allowing us now to land on planets! And like clockwork, Frontier releases this update with basically ZERO info on how to do such a thing. The only reason I figured it out was because I had already seen some videos on it before hand. Also, great job on making the Detailed Surface Scanner be a damn requirement for landing on planets without ever letting us know of this beforehand. Sure, I read the description and knew, but if I didn't do that, I would just assume that the scanner's purpose was not changed.

Frontier is really pushing it with this whole 'We won't give you any info' thing. A game shouldn't require you to have a damn fanmade Wiki loaded up just to enjoy it. In this case, I spent $45 on new content that I couldn't even access for like two hours because I essentially kept hitting a brick wall, thanks to the sheer lack of info. Even just a simple database would do wonders, but no, they apparently are comfortable with fans essentially doing all of that work for them. For free no less.
