Any Pro-Wrestling Fans Around?

Things aren't looking good for Perry Saturn. But here's his Gofundme page if you want to help him pay his medical bills.

https://www.gofundme.com/perrysaturn

Oh Perry, really sad what has become of you. :(

I would like to say that Vince Mcmahon ended the wrestling boom. But even without him buying out, WCW would still have crumbled. VKM didn't kill WCW. The execs of AOL-Time Warner and their choice to take WCW off of TV ended things.

That and it also didn't helped that WCW had their worst year in 2000, making a minus of almost 60 million dollars while the crowd got smaller and smaller.

But yeah, the new owners just didn't where interested in Wrestling, so they just said "away with it." For them, it was just another day in the office.

It seems like the list of hall of famers has been leaked now. It was already clear that Ravishing Rick Rude and DDP will get inducted this year, but the list of people has been stocked up by four (one of them being a Tag Team.) I will go through them and give my opinion

While he certainly never had the success like his friend (or kayfabe brother) Edge had, Christian still deserves alot of recognition in my opinion. Not only was he a solid in ring performer, he is in my opinion very underrated on the mic.

Of course, his tag team matches with the hardys and dudleys speak for themselves, but also his feuds with Edge, Chris Jericho and also later with Randy Orton show how great he was. And while this will probably never be mentioned at the ceremony, i kinda liked his TNA run as well. So yeah, i am okay with him being in it.

William Regal

A man i am still sad about, that he never one a world title in any of the promotions he was in the past 30 years. Still, Regals Resume speaks for itself. He started of in small promotions in England, working around Europe (even in Bremen a few times) until he made the jump to WCW as lord Steven Regal until going to the WWE in 1998.

He is considered as one of the hardest wrestlers in history and many wrestlers can attest to that, as Regal is certainly an apprentice of the old british/european style. Really happy that he gets in.

The Natural Disasters (Earthquake and Typhoon)

I say it flatout that i don't consider them to be Hall of Fame material. I always saw this as a way for Earthquake to do something, after he had to job to Hogan at Summerslam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble, while Typhoon was just...there..

I will say that they are both very intimdating and Jimmy Hart tried his best to get them as over as possible. But in the ring they barely have any skill and Earthquakes finisher always looked to funny too me.

IRS-WWE.jpeg

IRS (Irwin R. Schyster) AKA Mike Rotunda

While many brush IRS off as a comic gimmick from WWEs bad mid 90s run, I consider IRS one of the few great things coming off from that era. Nobody likes to pay taxes, but he always reminded you that if you don't, that you're a tax cheat. And he did that in a great way.

Rotunda has Wrestling in his blood, being related to the legendary Blackjack Mulligan and Barry Windham, while current WWE star Bray Wyatt is his son. Rotunda was a decent wrestler, but i always found him unbeatable on the mic.

How can you not hate this guy?

So, what do you think of those?

These are some great choices. Though I must argue that Regal should wait until they induct the British Bulldog and/or the Dynamite Kid first as they are unarguably the greatest British wrestlers ever.

Nothing against Regal as he is truly one of the all time greats. But I'd induct the Bulldog(s) first.

Christian's a great choice. Not going to argue there.

Mike Rotundo has had a pretty significant career so why not.

Natural Disasters. I'm going to say this is a good choice despite what others may say. I've kind of been a fan of them from following the Wrestlecrap website. (Earthquake John Tenta was a real good friend of the founder RD Reynolds.)

If there's 1 thing WWE still seems to get right these days, it's the Inductees.

It is here that I have the unenviable task of announcing that Jimmy Superfly Snuka has passed away at 73 due to stomach cancer.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/15/us/jimmy-superfly-snuka-obit/index.html

Damn, that's pretty sad. What makes the news worse to hear is that WWE will never make an mention of it. Edited by TheRealFlameBlues

Yeah, i just heard about it a few hours ago. With him, it was kinda expected since he was battling with his illness for awhile now and that he went into a hospice recently.

When it comes to his accusations about his homicide, i can't really say anything about that. In my opinion, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

RIP Superfly

I've heard that the changes have been dropped, I'm not sure if that's true or not. But, that's at least comforting to hear.

If any of you need something a bit uplifting, here is a vine compilation of Finn Balor, AJ Styles and the rest of the Bullet Club gang:

Yeah that's pretty cool xD, Hope Finn Balor returns soon. Raw has really been hurting since he got injured at summerslam.....Does anyone else think that his match with Seth Rollins was a Match-of-the-year candidate? It's too bad that the fans had to trash it because of the admittedly bad belt universal championship design.

And if Jim Ross were commentating, everything would be a "slobberknocker".

And if Steve Corino were commentating, everything would be 'Crash and burn!' or 'SUPERKICK!'

I am going to miss him.

I feel like a noob but, Wrestle Kingdom 11 was my first time ever hearing Steve Corino speak.

I'd seen & heard Kevin Kelly during the Attitude Era  but,

I don't remember watching  "The King of Old School" Steve Corino or ECW when it was on TV.

Yeah, ECW was unfortunately before my time. But if you can, do go back and check out his past work w/ ROH. He's been doing commentary since 2013 and has helped make the job fun again. But I'm guessing you have an NJPW world subscription. If so, you can find his work for the Invasion Attack, ROH 14th Anniversary & King of Pro-Wrestling shows from last year, as well as the New Years Dash event from earlier this month.

I don't have an NJPW world subscription but, I'm sure I can find stuff on Youtube.

You might, but I wouldn't keep my fingers crossed. ROH are pretty stringent on what they allow on YT. Typically it's classic matches, so no Corino with those Same w/ NJPW. You best either get an ROH subscription or start mining dailymotion.

Or at least, you can catch his last broadcasts w/ ROH in the coming weeks on your local Sinclair broadcasting affiliate. Or Destination America. Or any Anthem sports networks.

ROH puts videos of their (Mediocre, IMO) "Women of Honor" matches on Youtube otherwise,

I don't see many other matches on their channel.

Yeah DVD & streaming sales are their bread and butter. Don't expect a whole lot to be given away for free.

The only matches available will be classics involving Mcguinness, Danielson, Punk, Styles, KENTA & Liger, etc. Still worth a watch if you find them.

Otherwise you may have to settle for either subscribing to their video on demand service or just diving into the show as it airs.

That's how I like to watch wrestling,

find one wrestler I'm familiar with and build my fandom from there by learning about everyone else the more I watch

or I play the WWE games and become a fan of wrestlers that way.

With WWE 2K17 for example,

I've become a fan of Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss by using them in multiple matches.
