Hahahaha!

In all seriousness, I'm surprised Ready to Rumble isn't on the WWE Network along with their other films. :ooh:

Might not have been a WCW film, so not part of the WCW sale by AOL- Time Warner. So I guess out of everything the packed up from Easy E's office, they decided to keep that.

I need to play HCTP then. Can probably find half of ZSJs move set in there by the sound of it.

My favorite thing about HCTP is that your wrestler's stats carry over if you play season mode more than once.

WWE2K22 comes out on March 11th and while their games may be super-glitchy, I think they include quite a few independent and Japanese

moves every year.

Yeah I just gameshark my stats to max. I shouldn't have to work to have fun.

That's true, I always maxed out my HCTP stats. "Super Cena" was a thing on my game before it became a thing in WWE. :P

Unless your playing multi-man or battle royal mode. Then nothing but luck can save you.

I miss the "mash every button submission system" from Here Comes the Pain.

The WWE 2K games have something similar but it's more of a  tap a random button at the right time type of system &

my reflexes aren't quick enough.

I actually prefer that, especially in battle royals. It's more fun to game out button combinations than it is to mash buttons until your fingers start to callous over.

That's a good point.

Awkwardly using the right thumb stick for submissions in SVR 09 was a little easier for me but I preferred the button mashing due to finger placement.

I liked the control scheme of '09 and how you could specialize in a wrestling style. Makes things intuitive applying submissions like that. Just pair those graphics and that control style with OG SDvRaw's move set and little nuances like like how every punch and kick has a hard sound and every slam and dive feels like a car crash. Oh and music during matches. Made things very lively. All future games just have dull thuds and ambient crowd noise.

I didn't  like that because it limited which moves I could use. :yeahno:

I think that's distracting. I always turn music, commentary etc. off even if it's for menus.

I do wish moves sounded more lifelike when they hit a surface and that the crowd would sound more invested in the match.

Industry shaking news out of Dynamite!

Tony Khan has just bought Ring of Honor!

A month ahead of their and a week after their 20th anniversary, Tony Khanrana has become the savior of honor. Good on ROH for having their future secured. They've earned it after handling the pandemic with grace, class and well, honor.

Spoiler

I may not know much about ROH but I will say that I'm very happy for them! :squee:

Will AEW/ROH merge with the National Wrestling "Alliance" leading to a winner-take-all match at Final Final Battle? :orly:

I wonder if Brian Zane will be offered his job back.

Honestly, they should. He's a good talker and would get more eyes on the product.

YEAH! :squee: Especially, now that William Regal doesn't work for WWE anymore.

Road Dogg was an interesting but welcome inclusion for me as well since, I can team him up with X-Pac. :)

I'm so excited that Tony Khan has bought Ring Of Honor.

Hopefully, we can now see the Briscoe Brothers fight FTR.

I was gonna get to that.

Welp everypony! stuff happened. Let's dig in.

First of all, Lord Steven Regal is back in the Turner family of TV stations for the first time in a quarter century. Punk made the most ROH throwback entrance ever (Miseria Cantare > Cult of Personality. Fight me.) We had Black Metal vs. Thrash metal in HoB vs. Death Triangle + Redbeard. Should've been on the main card. Bobby Fish talked so much Smack during the tag match, Renee & DB almost teleported back to the blue brand to roast Jason Jordan further into retirement. We got a new NWA Mid-South North American AEW Womens Championship.

Spoiler

Image

Sting is going full blown Terry Funk, which is what happens when you get so old that you stop giving a damn and go stunt crazy. Has Sting ever did a dive through a table before this? It's like the older you get in wrestling, the crazier you become.

Which seems to be a theme for NJPW as well. The 50th anniversary show was a unique affair. Ring full of legends, from Chono to Mutoh to Fujiwara to Fujinami to Tiger Hatori to Riki Chosu to Milano AT to Minoru Tanaka to a bunch of other old dudes. And among all these old dudes in suits, you had Jushin 'Thunder' Liger showing up in full gimmick, looking like your CAW during an in game cut scene. Matches were hit or miss. Minoru Tanaka has still got it at age 50, now working the up and coming GLEAT promotion. You may remember Strong Hearts from their AEW showing back in 2018 and their leader CIMA who fought Omega at Fight for the Fallen. Well now NJPW is giving them a shot and they're doing pretty well so far. CIMA will be in the 48 46 man NJPW cup. And our 50th anniversary tag proved old dudes gonna go crazy. Fujiwara out grumpy bastard Minoru Suzuki. What else did he do? Well took the leather covering off the steel bar that hooked the turnbuckle to the ring post, and headbutted the damn thing! Twice! Audible clinks both times! Meanwhile, Tanahashi got to tag with his hero, Tatsumi Fujinami, whose in pretty decent shape for a 70 year old. Okada did Okada things. ZSJ did ZSJ things. Faces win. Onto the NJC.

Night 1 was a solid night. Night 2 only had three matches that were okay. Night 3 was just put up and is up for free https://njpwworld.com/p/s_series_00605_6_1 . Main event is Shingo vs. Ishii. But if you can, you really should catch the annual Jr. vs. World Heavy champions bout between El Desperado & Okada. It was really good.

And in Pro-Wrestling NOAH news, the old MMA dues are reigning supreme. Pancrase OG Masakatsu Funaki is now the national champion, dethroneing, then joining KONGO leader Kenoh. And Pride FC OG Kazayuki Fujita has dethroned another KONGO member in Katsuhiko Nakajima to abruptly end his title reign and become the second oldest GHC Heavyweight champion behind Mutoh, much to the chagrin of many a western fan at least. Feels like they're having a very WWE problem of drawing in fans with names of the past, even if in NOAH's case these names can still go pretty hard for their age. Speaking of Mutoh, dud suffered a hip injury a few weeks back, causing him and Marufuji to relinquish the tag titles. A tournament will start next week to crown new champs. Those weren't the only vacancies, as the GHC jr. tag titles were up for grabs for the second time in 3 months after Wrestle-1 transplant Seiki Yoshioka broke his heel. So the titles were won by Atsushi Kotoge and a freshly face turned Yo-Hey, granting Kotoge his record breaking 9th tag title. Probably an apology from NOAH for agreeing to have him eat an embarrassing shenanigans filled loss to SHO during the NJPW vs. NOAH card.

What year is this!? I feel like this is "Invasion 2.0" even though I'm not sure they'd want to resurrect that storyline.

I liked the WCW/ECW invasion, BTW.

Got some news everypony, and it's not the good kind.

Scott Hall was admitted to the hospital last week to undergo hip surgery. Unfortunately this dislodged a blood clot and resulted in multiple heart attacks. He's been in a coma ever since. His family, including Sean Waltman and Kevin Nash, are gathering today, preparing to relieve him of his pain and discontinue his life support. As of a few hours ago, he was taken off support. However, he has not passed just yet.

Steele yourselves for the worst everypony, and pray to the sisters for the best.

I wish I could get excited for a possible Cody Rhodes WWE return but I just can't because I feel like he's not big enough for me to care about.

Also, I can't honestly see them giving Cody a WWE Championship run in the future no matter how massive the possible early return hype could be.

Then again, Jinder Mahal is a former WWE Champion so I guess anything is possible.
