The Story Behind The Smile

I was thinking about how Pinkies family is mostly grey, and pale colored, and how she is so bright and pink. So I thought for a bit, then decided to create this back story for Pinkie Pie. The first chapter is going to be a bit different than the rest, but it should be easy to fallow. Waring, it WILL get sad.

Prolog:

 

The sun rode high in the sky over the small town of Ponyville, lureing many ponies outside with it's warmth and light. Twilight sat in her castle, (A/N:This was written before season five, so this will not be an accurate representation of her castle.) looking outside her window. (A/N: This [ ] means the words in between the symbols are thoughts. Yeah, I know it's weird, I'm typing this on a kindle, give me a break.) [it's nice out today, might as well go outside instead of being stuck inside all day.] The purple mare thought as she walked towards her door. Before she reached it, a knock sounded at the door. Reaching the door, Twilight pulled it open to see Pinkie Pie standing outside. "Twilight! Wanna hang out? It's soooooo nice out, but everypony is busy!" The pink mare said in a rush. "Busy with what?" Asked Twilight. Pinkie sighed. "Rainbow said she would go to the Everefree with Fluttershy to find some lost bunnies. AJ is working the orchard, and Rarity is watching the CMC." "Oh. Well, I can hang out." Twilight responded. The pink pony lept into the air with joy. "Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!" She cried, bouncing around. Twilight laughed, and trotted back inside, keeping the door open. "Spike?" She called. Spike poked his head outside the library door. "Yeah Twilight?" He asked. "Wanna take a break and come outside?" Spike shook his head. "Naw, lots of re-selveing to do." He said, going back into the libary. Twilight shrugged, and headed for the door again.

 

Twilight stopped short as she noticed Pinkie stareing at something, and followed the pink mares gaze. There, standing a bit away from the castle, was a stallion Twilight had never seen before. His coat was red, and his mane and tail were both golden. His eyes were the same shade of blue as Pinkies, and -Twilight noticed- his gaze was locked on Pinky. The stallion took a step forwards, as if too approach the two mares, then swiftly turned, and left. "Did you know him?" Twilight asked, Pinkie still watching the stallion leave. Pinkie shook her head slowly, as if dazed. "I - I feel like I know him, but I don't..." The mare trailed off, clearly confused. [That's odd. Pinkie knows everypony!] Twilight though. "Pinkie sense say anything?" Again, Pinkie pie shook her head. "Nothing." Twilight sighed. "Well, I'm sure its nothing. Let's go, shall we?" Pinkie jumped up, suddenly hyper, and took the lead.

 

Later, Twilight lay at home, in bed. [Who was he?] The question that repeated itself in her mind was still unanswered. She stood, and began to pace around. Soon, Spike entered the room, looking tired. "Twilight? What are you doing?" The dragon asked, rubbing sleep from his eyes. Twilight sighed, and explained what had happened earlier. Spike shook his head. "It's nothing Twilight. Besides, what are you gonna do, write the Princess a note?" Twilight stopped pacing, and raced over too her writing desk. "Great idea, Spike!" She said, writing quickly. Spike complained under his breath, but sent the letter when she was done. Soon enough, there was a reply. Twilight picked up the scroll,and began too read. It read:

 

Dear Princess Twilight,

As you are aware, Pinkie Pie looks different from her family. Did you notice any similarities between the stranger and Pinkie?

 

Twilight thought back, realized she had seen some similarities, and continued reading.

 

The similarities are because he is a part of her family. Pinkie Pie was adopted. Her name is her original birth name, but she is in no way related to the Pie family. You may have already guessed this. Due too the wishes of Mr. and Mrs. Pie, her true family records have been kept a secret. However, as both her friend, and a princess, you have access to these records. I have included them in this letter. Do what you wish with this information, but before you do anything, read it ALL, and keep in mind the effects of telling anypony.

Twilight took out a large stack of papers, that was the records. She had gussed Pinkie was different, but how different? Letting out a breath she hadn't known she had been holding in, she began to read the records.

 

(A/N: Thanks for reading, next chapter will be up soon. Every chapter from now on will be told in the past, so none of the cannon characters will be there for a while. By in the past, I don't mean past tense, I mean past events. Hope you like it!)
