Lightning Crasher 54 February 21, 2015 Share February 21, 2015 Somethimes me too. Star Wars, Star Trek, Final Fantasy and Mass Effect leave a mark on me. Yeah, seeing the way stuff is now and looking at how fast we have technologically advanced through the years makes you think if it is going to be possible in the near future. Yummychickenblue 301 February 21, 2015 Share February 21, 2015 (edited) I think that if you were born in a different generation you would still be complaining. Think about it: Why is the music from the 80's so good compared to today? Because we only remember the best stuff that stood the test of time. Why does it seem like the previous generations were so much better? People who lived in that generation only remember the best and worst stuff. Nobody likes talking about bad stuff so they only remember the good stuff. Why does it seem like there were so many technological advances that we just don't see anymore? Because we're just now reaping the rewards that those advances brought us. If you were born earlier in the late 20th century you'd still be complaining that your generation sucks. They did, we are, and the next generation will complain that the previous generation was better. And there children will too because every generation better worse the last because we only remember the amazing things. Dingo_Dash 1,403 February 21, 2015 Author Share February 21, 2015 (edited) Yes I can. I'm not a fan of not having many rights in the government. I'm not a fan of being blocked from the right to an education. Being attacked by people who have unfair laws on their side is not fun, and neither is living in a time when enslavement is so darn common. I don't want to deal with the plague. I don't want to be around during the cold war, and I definitely don't want to be there when disco's around. I don't like disco xP Anyways, I never said it's bad for you, or anyone, to like a time period prior to the 21st century. That never left my mouth. I just stated that I didn't like any time period prior because that's my preference. Good, maybe there was little misunderstanding. I always keep in mind both best and worts things of every "era", without making a partially "overview" with stuff i love. That would be foolish from me. De gustibus non disputandum est I think that if you were born in a different generation you would still be complaining. Think about it: Why is the music from the 80's so good compared to today? And there children will too because every generation better worse the last because we only remember the amazing things. It's not always the case. Think about; i don't complain or blame past generations because most of world's errors were made by a bunch of powefull subjects. The more you get back in time, the more ignorance raises because a lack of communication, information, or simply commonplaces. Until '900, the 90% of world population was illiterate and had never been to school. They were easy manipulable minds and superstitious. Decade after decade world population became coscious of their rights, but not ever choose a pacific way to solve differencies culminating in two world wars. Today technology can spy and "predict" war, but stuff like nuclear deterrent is enougth to keep cool rage aganist nations (forced-peace, soo crazy). The gist of the matter, however, is that next generation to me often doesn't show respect for me, doesn't care, they don't want to be educated (well, i can't pretend to use "my grandfather metods" of course ) event if i try to be cool and respectfully. it's a shame because it almost seem to want to be imposed for the same kind of powerfull "lords" of lobbysm, capitalims and politics. Well you're also older than the next generation meaning you would probably have more life experience and wisdom. The generation that is growing up right now would be disrespectful because they have less life experience than you. i don't complain or blame past generations because most of world's errors were made by a bunch of powefull subjects. I'm more like "they simply ignore visible and obvious things". But they were still probably complaining about their generation in one way or another. Complaining that they wish they could go back to a simpler time perhaps? Of course they did. The story turn over and over again. But now all of us have more ways to understanding our fellows than in the past. Unless there is a glorious utopian future ahead of us then I don't think I'd want to be born in a different time. If there is one, then i hope in reincarnation! Hidey 2,836 April 5, 2015 Share April 5, 2015 Always. Sure, there's the superstition, disease, no medicine, less rights, and all that to deal with. But, I'd still be the first one to leave this time if I could. this is my signature

Honsou 399 April 6, 2015 Share April 6, 2015 Quite a bit actually. I look around at technology, and the advancements in it, and this day in age, I don't know how people function without their smart phones. It's damn near impossible to have a conversation with someone as everyone is glued to their damn new fangled phone machines. Now, coming from Rural Idaho I got a glimpse of the old way of life, where hard work and respect pave the road for success, but I also saw how the religious clique can get you places in life, as I wasn't a member of the LDS Faith (no disrespect to our LDS brethren), but due to the vast portion of the community being LDS I was usually alienated because of my beliefs. That being stated, I also feel I was born in the wrong era as I'm kind of a blank flank personality wise, as I haven't discovered anything out there that is my true passion or hobby. I dabble in a little of everything (minus magic, witchcraft and daemonancy) just for fun, but I'm not really truly good at anything. So maybe, if I was born about 20 years prior, I would not have been born in the video game Era, but I would have grown up using my hands to create stuff, instead of pulling out my phone and youtubing whatever it is that I'm stuck on. Honestly, I feel technology is stealing our inner cutie marks as the vast majority of us are now able to accomplish anything with the methods and means of instant education at our hoove tips. yeet 2,027 April 6, 2015 Share April 6, 2015 I kinda wish I was born a few years earlier. Say 1995 or 1994. That way I'd of had the experience of playing older consoles, I'd have played halo 2, that kinda stuff. But im alight with right now. Also if I was born in the 70s then i Coulda gone to a nirvana concert.
Overdrive 5,366 April 8, 2015 Share April 8, 2015 Yes, I do. I feel like I belong in the late 70's/early 80's. My taste in music, the "old school" mentality I have, and just in general, my general negative demeanor for new technology all kinda suit that era. Wicked Funky 2,955 April 8, 2015 Share April 8, 2015 I dont think i was born in the wrong era really, i like it right now But it would have been awsome growing up under the 80s-90s purely for the music, It hurts me so bad i will never be able to see Nirvana live and most music i listen to is from the 80s-90s since i really dont like most new music, The only "new" band i like is probably "Imagine dragons". \/ 651 April 8, 2015 Share April 8, 2015 No matter what time period we live in, we will end up being unhappy. Nothing will ever fully please humans. We're just built that way. Speaking of building things, will we ever be happy when our dreams of robot butlers and self-driving cars become real? Will we ever be happy when we build an empire on another solar system? Another galaxy? 2 Enter the Forest...
Bird Mom 900 April 9, 2015 Share April 9, 2015 I always feel like I belong in the 50's. Y'know, the days of simplicity. There was less technology and it was, as stated before, simpler. 'But what about economic issues?' The 50's in America was better than the economy could ever get today, people knew how to keep to themselves and not judge others based on their opinions. "Pay attention to these petals, Steven. The petals' dance seems improvised, but it is being calculated in real time based on the physical properties of this planet. With hard work and dedication, you can master the magical properties of your gem and perform your own dance!" Justin_Case001 4,892 April 9, 2015 Share April 9, 2015 Every f*cking day of my life. But apparently people in this thread are talking more about different decades? As in, 50's, 60's, 70's, etc? Well, I've always felt like would have been happier if I was born in the distant past or the distant future. I like the conveniences we have, but I hate almost everything about the way this society works. I felt like I either should have been a Starfleet officer, or a farmer working my own land in medieval times, building my house, teaching my son how to ride a horse, that kind of sh*t. Basically, I either want to live in a future where money longer exists, or a past where you just build your own house and tend your own land. I feel like the anciet times, or the theoretical future times both build character and strength, rather than sapping it from you like the daily grind, soul-sucking, gear of society jobs of today. But I know the truth is that if I was a farmer in medieval times, I would probably die an agonizing death of some...like...f*ckin smallpox at 30 years old. I know life would suck. I can't think of any real flaws with being a Starfeet officer, though.
Adorkable 2,737 April 9, 2015 Share April 9, 2015 Can't say I've felt that way. Maybe with the wrong family, but not the wrong era. My friends, in this current era, we have ponies. What more could you possible want from life?
Suukorak 354 April 9, 2015 Share April 9, 2015 Wow, a lot of people are talking about music as if it's the only thing that distinguishes times. If I were to go back to a time I liked the music, I'd want to live through the 1880s and 90s. Gilbert & Sullivan FTW! People were also nicer to each other then - a little concept called chivalry. Unless you had the great misfortune not to be a straight white man. Or an immigrant. Or, God forbid, a Jew. Then, of course, I would also have to live through two world wars. Ouch. I guess I'd like to visit that time period for a few weeks, then come right back. I get the feeling that's what most of you guys would really prefer, too. It's a bug and a feature! Commissar Alexer 763 April 9, 2015 Share April 9, 2015 Yeah, pretty often. I would be rather in the 30's or 40's where i could achieve great things. The far future would be an option too but i don't know how it looks like... "There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt." "Prayer cleanses the soul, Pain cleanses the body." "He who follows Chaos, shall suffer for eternity."
