Awww I was kind of hoping for the mistrust, would have made for an interesting first encounter upon leaving his home for Ezekiel. (Plus as a zebra, last time I checked, many Wasteland ponies don't trust them for reasons that should be obvious by looking around.)

As to being trusting he was raised by his father to be that way, which is what got his father killed by the leader of the ponyville raiders (Only known OOC, chip doesn't know it was him) as well as their trusting nature got them involved in some bad stuff lol. But Chip lost his father a year ago so he still tries to keep his father's teaching close, which his father is also the pony that taught him every thing he knows. As well as he was raised to help out those he can so he isn't someone that turns away others.

 

As to not liking talkative ponies: even though he is a shop owner he is still somewhat socially awkward/shy and he doesn't like getting pulled into meaningless chatter. Although if you get him started on weapons and mechanics then he's the chatterbox lol
