Old Gen Collectors!

Just one rule: No bashing other gens/bronies/collectors. If you're only here to go "ew old gens" or "darn bronies ruined old gens" don't.

 

That being said; where are all my G1, 2, 3, and yes, even 3.5 collectors at? Who's in your collection? Do you have an army or just a favorite?

 

I collect ponies with bug symbols and my favorite G1s are Firefly (classic,) Sundance, and Dancing Butterflies. I think I have three of the latter in my collection, one rehaired by me. I kinda wish I had the funds for more G1s, especially a G1 AJ and Honeycomb to go with my Baby AJ and Baby Honeycomb. Probably my rarest G1 is Cha Cha the Llama.

 

How about you guys? Anyone else collect or just generally into older gens?

I actually collected ponies prior to FIM, but I no longer have any of them (left behind - with many other things - during a move).  Nor did I even know their names. xD  It was by chance that I ended up with them, and they occupied the top of a cabinet with everything from Mario to dinosaurs to spray-painted cat figures. x3  I believe the original toy line debuted in my birth year, so it was probably my destiny to collect brushables.

Sadly, I gave away all my G3 ponies years ago, which is a real shame since they're absolutely adorable.

 

I'm probably going to start collecting and hope I happen upon a Starcatcher, Sky Wishes, Blue Mist, Daybreak, Snowflake, Silver Rain, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Berries 'n Cherries, Glitter Glide, or some other ones. I want so many, they're so well designed and definitely better than the G4 toys.

 

I love G3 and My Little Pony Tales (not sure if it counts) overall, they're so cute and calming to watch.

I began a small collection of G3's last summer. I would love to have more, but sadly I can really only get them through sites like eBay for inflated prices, so I have to pick and choose. I'd love to have a large collection of G3's because there are sooo many beautiful ones, though.

 

So far I have Jazz Matazz, Wave Catcher, Candy Cane, and Juniper Jade.

 

There are some G1's that would be really neat to have, too, but they're much harder to get and in high-demand along serious collectors so I decided I probably won't try for them. lol

i used to have so many when I was a kid, but these days I have, besides the entire series on DVD, a nearly flawless Galaxy, while my sis has a slightly faded Fizzy, some G3 ponies I forget the names of, and some original animation cels.

 

We should start a G1 fanclub, y'know.

I had a baby Ember as a fourth grader, and I remember taking her to the doctor during a terrible time.   and  I had a Glory, and Moondancer.  I loved them all. I wish I still had them. I wasn't a big collector as a child, being more into other toys, but I did really like those.  And I remember the sea ponies, though I am not sure if I had one.

I have a Firefly that I picked up in a Barnes&Nobles. Looks like a fakie and I don't like it, though -_-;

On another note, I like Gen 3 Toola Roola, and I keep seeing that Target is supposed to have her (and she's in stock, supposedly at the store, every time I look online), but when I call, they always say they don't have her in stock at their store, and I can never find her in the aisle with all the other MLP toys. ;_;

I've got a few previous gen toys..not sure who's who though....I've got a couple of the older ones,with glued on cutie marks with the gems in them. But most are gen 3...only one I can recognize is a  G3 Sweetie Belle and possibly Rarity or Scootaloo. Other than that, I don't know much about them. I got them in mixed bags of G4 stuff that I bought at a Thrift shop a few years ago (2011)

When I was a fetus my mother and I would collect G1, G2 and G3 ponies. In the end we ended up having at least a hundred or so. XD But about a year ago my mother sent them all to a charity shop and I was sad for the next 30 seconds.

I didn't really grow up with MLP as a kid. It was a brand name I was aware of, but I was too young for G1 when it was out and "too old" for ponies by the time G3 came around. When I got into FiM, I didn't have any interest in the older toys. But G1 Applejack eventually won me over, and it was kinda downhill from there. I've got a sizeable G1 herd of about 100, and maybe half that with G3s. Now I'm way more interested in G1 and G3 than the current toys. I love that the two older gens look more horse-like, but are still very sweet, colorful, and full of personality. Some of my favorites are Glory, Bubbles, Seashell, Nightglider, Moondancer, Majesty, Surprise, Tex, Steamer, Salty, Fizzy, Bonnie Bonnets, Applejack, SHS Flowerburst, Alphabittle, Bumblesweet, Bubblecup, Autumn Skye...the list goes on...

 

In the past few years, I've even found some at local antique stores and Goodwill, which is really exciting for me! Most of them are G3s, but occasionally I'll come across a G1. My first in-the-wild, old-gen find was a Rainbowcurl Ringlets, but I thought she was a fakie because she didn't have a symbol on her flank, lol. My best Goodwill find was a Baby Crumpet for 50 cents.

 

I also found a Tex filled with rust inside, and half his hair was rusted as well (It was orangeish-blonde and mostly just fell out). I just finished rehairing him today. It was a huge challenge cause it was my first time rehairing something bigger than a baby pony, and I think he's gone through plasticizer leakage because he was hard as a rock! So it sort of took me close to a year to finish him, mostly because I was procrastinating But I'm really happy with how he turned out! Other ponies I've restored from the same store were Seashell and SS Truly. Truly was my first deflock, she was really dirty but looks pretty clean and bright now! And Seashell I've given a new forelock and tail. She's also got a small chunk bitten out of her hoof which I do want to patch up, but I'm sort of building up the courage to do so. But I really do love restoring the ponies I find. It feels great to find an old, battered, well-loved toy and give it new life. And now I sort of rambled about restoration - apologies, I'm just overexcited about it now cause it's fresh in my mind

Probably my rarest G1 is Cha Cha the Llama.

 

That is amazing!  That is a hard one to get.

 

I have a few dozen or so g1 ponies.  The rarest and my favorite is Nightglider.

I own two g2s that I think are great.  One has a cut on her lip that reminds me of Assassin's Creed.

I have 110 g3s not counting the ones I got as a teenager.  My favorite is Lily Lightly.  I love her light up gown!

I even have some g3.5s for the sake of it.

I have at least three of the G2 ponies, but I really only collect the 

ones that are pegasi when it comes to G2.

I'd collect more for sure, I just simply don't have enough shelf room anymore Except for one Petite Ponies MOC set. I'd love to get my paws on one one day.

I collect all gens, but I predominantly love the G3 figures! I don't have any particular goal - I just go to the local antique shops and flea markets and see what I can find. It's really fun, and I can find really cheap ones. I like giving them make-overs where I wash them, shampoo and condition their hair, and curl it. I've halted my collecting for awhile because I'm kind of out of room But when I move into a bigger place in a couple months, I'm going to get shelves for all of them so I can keep at it.

 

I also recently decided to collect all of the G1 plushies called "Softies." Right now I have two, Cherries Jubilee and Lickety Split. They are such great plushies. I need them all :3
