Anyways, this thread is for discussing the recently released game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse for PS3/4, Xbox 360/ One, and PC! Talk about what you did/didn't like about the game, talk about and show us your custom character (if you can), anything! But first, a quick overview: DBX's story follows your custom character as they join the Tme Patrol, a group of people who go throughout time fixing the timeline when something wrong happens, and fight the evil duo Mira and Towa, who are traveling throughout time to mess things up and destroy history! The game has borrowed MANY story and gameplay elements from Battle of Z, the failed Korean game Dragon Ball Online, and the Japanese arcade game Dragon Ball Heroes. When creating your character, you have 5 choices of race, Human, Saiyan, Namekian, Majin, and Frieza's Race (Frieza's Race isn't given an official name, they actually just call it "Frieza Race"). You can also choose your gender (unless you're Namekian or Frieza Race, since both races are all males), change the physical apperance, and even the color of your clothes!

 

I liked the awesome gameplay, good graphics, music, and the customization of your own character!

 

However, it does have it's flaws.

1. Dialogue. I can't tell you how many times I found errors in the English subtitles, heck, sometimes the wrong words would show! Also, what the characters say don't always make sense, such as certain people refering to you by the wrong gender, saying things at the wrong time, and sometimes their words don't match their body language.

2. Cast of characters. This isn't a huge problem, but there are a few minor things that suck about the roster.

1. No normal form Teen Gohan.

2. No Frieza 2nd or 3rd form.

3. Inability to change Frieza or Cell's forms mid-battle (don't worry, you can still go Super Saiyan).

4. No Cell 1st or 2nd form.

5. You can't choose to be Super Saiyan before you start the battle like you could in most other games.

6. Not enough characters in general. Especially movie characters.

7. No regular or SS1 version of a certain character who I don't want to spoil.

8. Frieza Race custom characters don't have any transformations (but you can make them look like they're in a certain form.

9. Not enough characters in general (to me at least).

I know that was a lot, but they're all small problems to me.

 

3. Difficulty. The game isn't that hard, but certain missions have UNFORGIVING CPUs! Mainly Parallel quest: "Super Saiyan Bargain Sale". Sometimes, your allies are morons. This especially sucks if you're doing a mission where you HAVE to protect them.

 

But those faults are mostly outdone by their successes!

Ah, well, I'll try Japanese dialogue and tell you how that is. I pre-ordered online it the night before it came out (exclusive DLC if you pre-order at GameStop) and they sent it to me 4 days after it came out.....

Yeah, it seems like they assumed no one would use female characters because every gendered dialogue I've seen has always been masculine. =/

 

What gets me is the server issues. It's okay if it has server issues, but the problem is that when it does it kicks me out of the game altogether. Earlier today I couldn't even get back in to play the game at all. =/

 

Also I'm having trouble with the Freeza ship part of the story mode because Krillin and/or Gohan keep on dying. lol

Oh Lord, I had that problem too! As it turns out, there's A LOT more people than they expected online, so it slows down the server a lot.

As for Frieza's Ship, Gohan's was being a little dumbass for me to lol! I beat the story now, but I probably couldn't beat that mission again of I tried!

I've heard it in japanese, and sounds better to me that way.

I went to the official GameStop website and even called them up about it, so I didn't worry about being shamed, I tracked my delivery using UPS and everything. Truat me though, the DLC is really good. I think you can still get the Day One edition with the DLCs, but I'm not too sure. Even if you don't care much for DLC, it doesn't cost extra, and you get SS4 Vegeta, and trust me, he he,led a lot during Parallel Quests.

Well from what i've seen in gameplay videos, it looks awesome. Don't know if they have that blasted annoying retry system in there.  I hated that thing in BoZ with a vengeance. The amount of retries you got were based on the characters you chose. once that ran out, you were screwed.

My issues with the game are:

 

1. The transformation system is ridiculous, you should have the choice of which transformation you want to take on, which brings me to my next point.
2. Move sets should NOT be relevant to the costume you pick, why not just use a similar system to Raging Blast and make custom sets for the characters and pick whichever costume you like?
3. Some Supers, Ultimates and Z-Souls are extremely unbalanced and are just way to necessary for Online Battles, a good example is the "I'm neither Kami nor Piccolo now..." Z-Soul, It is ridiculously over powered and feels like a staple if you want the best character you can possibly make.
4. A lot of the parallel missions feel stupidly unfair, for example 'Super Saiyan Bargain Sale' or 'Super Super Ultimate Series of Battles', both ridiculously unfair since the first time you take them on you have to do it alone, not to mention that by the end of them its 3v1 and they're all Super saiyan and spamming their ultimates every 5 fucking seconds, and for anyone who hasn't played it yet, that is seriously NOT an exaggeration ...
5. There are very few combos in the game that work or even feel viable, i've played fighting games all my life and let me tell you that this is one of the clunky and unresponsive ones.
6. Dialogue and subs are so sloppy it baffled me, how can you even miss that...
7. Server issues are a real pain and they still haven't fixed them.
8. Another thing is the bonus objectives have a chance of activating regardless of whether or not you have completed the conditions or not which is very annoying.
9. If you create a saiyan you don't have a tail... Not to be too critical but you are supposed to be a full blooded saiyan soooo yeah...

 

After all the bad points i've just pointed out, I still don't think its a bad game, it is by far the best Dragonball game to come out since Raging Blast 2, the character customisation is solid and the there are heaps of costumes to customise your character with, I just feel like they could of done a much better job and not of made such a half assed, sloppy attempt.

The dialogue/subtitles not matching up bugs me a bit, too-but, ultimately that's just a nitpick of mine.

 

The randomness of whatever characters appear gets kind of annoying if you're looking for a specific master to train you or you just want to go back to improve your grade on one of your lessons.

 

Some of the Parallel Quests are just obnoxious with their difficulty

with at least two being hair-pullingly frustrating with Kamehameha spam/juggling from the Goku, Gohan, and Goten NPCs you have to beat in the final sections.

 

 

I'm also anxious for the servers to be strengthened so I can play with my best friend online-I just got him the game as a late birthday present.

As an example to how annoying/fun to use some moves can be, here's a video me and my mate made yesterday, Im Sanity Not Included and i'm also the guy talking since it didn't pick up my mates voice for some reason, so it kinda sounds like i'm talking to myself...

Hmm...now that you mention it, the only time Saiyans have tails is when they equip any Frieza Soldier Armor. Even then, the tail's part of the outfit, so ALL races get a tail belt if they equip said armor...

A patch was released earlier today, and it really seems to have sorted out the server problems. At least for me, it did.

 

I finally beat that stupid mission. The rest of the arc was sooo easy in comparison. Didn't have any problems beating Freeza, it was probably thanks to some grinding that I got in while trying to go through the PQs since I couldn't beat that one mission... But now Cell is completely kicking my butt. lol

I haven't bought a Dragonball game since Raging Blast, so i found this one to be good. Although there are some things in the game that i didn't like which are:

 

1)Difficulty: Some parallel quests are way too hard and even some of the story missions like fighting seven small Majin Buu's at once were really hard, for me it was.

 

2) Graphics: In game they're good, but i feel for the PS4 and Xbox One versions they could have looked better, the hub for example had graphics that looked last gen.

 

3) Characters: I didn't think there was enough characters, also it was bad that i couldn't get Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta without pre ordering the game at certain retailers. It should have been in the game.

 

4) Story: It would have been good if your main character was voiced, i also didn't like how you had to use your own customised character throughout the game. It would have been better if you could use a different character in the story.

 

4) Online Networking: On a couple of occasions i had an error that said "Dragonball Xenoverse servers are unavailable at this time" and couldn't connect.

 

I thought the story was good and has a good amount of content, although i don't think i'll be playing it much after i finish the story.

Lol, I don't really game on PC either, just consoles. I finished the game the other day, great story it has, i don't think i'll be playing it much anymore other than the parallel quests.
