Police and highway patrol. The military is here too but they're not here to deal with the citizens.

A "Sheriff Department" sounds like something you'd only find in the US but in some European countries, the same kind of distinction exists between local police and state police but they're both part of police departments.

It's a small town so the Sheriff's Department and the State Police are more prominent.

We got a Sheriff's department, that's most of what you see here in my city other than the state troopers which patrol the interstate.

It's a small town, really doesn't have much of anything, aside from one attraction that may attract a certain crowd of people. It has a police department, though.
