Rigel saw melody coming down the stairs and stopped her.

 

"sorry, but I can't allow to come any further. Legacy says to keep you here till she arrives. Also, who's the new guy?"

"Rigel, who do we have at the door?" Agent said, as he got up.

"it's melody and a pony I've never seen." he said, not taking his eyes off them. "we just had a break in and a murder, so you can understand why we're being cautious."

 

Legacy arrived and looked the 2 over. She immediately placed a seal on melody's magic and used telekinesis to grab the other one's pistol. She then spoke to melody.

 

"you arrived her not long ago. Soon after, you ran outside without telling anypony where you were going or what you were doing. You left the door open and unproteced, which allowed an enemy to get in. Now you bring an unknown pony back into the base without permission. What do you have to say to yourself?"

 

 

(also, you might be wondering about the absence of Garth. Truth be told, I forgot about him. So let's just assume legacy told him what happened and he is now trying to find nightshade. I'll bring him back into the story soon.)

Melody stopped dead in her tracks. The news came as such a shock that she fell on her haunches.

 

"W-what? Er... This is Silvermane. We, uh... knew each other a long while back. Excuse me, but you're saying this is all my fault? What just happened?"

 

Melody stumbled as she tried to gain a sense of the situation. She suddenly remembered leaving Sforzando alone in his room.

 

"My brother? Where is he, is he alright?"

Legacy looked at her flatly. "your brother is locked in his room. I don't even know if he knows, as far as I know, he hasn't tried to leave his room yet. Anyway, I just told you what happened. You left the door open and an enemy got in. You must admit that the fact that you came here on the same day that an enemy in, intentionally or not, is suspicious. The fact that she was able to get in due to your actions doesn't help."

 

Legacy looked at the new pony. "so your name is silvermane? Would you mind telling me why you're here?"

Silvermane then showed the group his series of metal parts and ligaments scattered around his body.

 

"I was caught in the fire of a dragon's fire blast. I was badly scathed and needed medical attention. I used my magic to construct ligaments out of scrap parts. They could only last so long, so Im wandering around the world trading old parts, finding new ones and so on and so forth. I eventualy became a bounty hunter to attempt to gain more money and parts, Leading me here from an annonymous tip."

Jack saw what appeared to be a structure ahead of him, he was in rough shape, he also had a broken piece of equptment strapped to his arm

 

Once he arrived at the entrance to the base he collapsed

Legacy glared at him. "I fail to see how you needing prosthetics requires you to come here. You say you found us through an anonymous tip? That in itself is pretty suspicious." she closed her eyes and thought the situation through. I think my only option is a mind probe. Then I'll know for sure...

 

She looked back to melody. "okay, look, I'd like to trust you, but under the circumstances, I can't be sure. So I'm going to do a mind probe. Basically, I'm going to delve deep into your mind, a lot deeper than my normal mind reading. That way I'll know for sure." she placed her hood on Melody's forehead. "this is going to hurt. Get ready."

 

She thrust her mind into Melody's and began to sift though her mind. She started with her conscious mind, going through her present thoughts. Truthfully, there wasn't much coherent there. A lot of conflicting emotions; fear, astonishment, affection, confusion. Melody started to go through the subconscious, searching for anything suspect.

 

(stuff happens and I don't want type it all out because I'm trying to eat dinner.)

 

After 30 minutes or so, she lowered her hoof. She was breathing heavily and sweating slightly. She looked at melody apologetically.

"I'm so sorry, but I had to be sure." she turned to the other Valkyrs, who had gathered at the entrance. "shes telling the truth. Her brother is okay, too."

 

She turned back to silvermane. "I'm sorry, i need to rest before I probe another mind. We can't allow you to leave, or come further into the base. We can bring you food, and a pillow and blanket if you want. I don't think you mean us harm, but I have to be sure." she turned to Rigel. "will you stay with him for the night?"

 

Rigel nodded, and legacy returned to her room and collapsed onto her bed.

 

 

 

Nightshade stood over a still sleeping Frost in the back alley of a large city. She kicked her awake.

"hey, ice bitch, wake up. Anarchy wants to talk to you."

 

Frost opened her eyes groggily. She saw a hooded figure step out of the shadows. It had glowing eye and a raspy, hissing voice.

 

"hello frosssst. Having a nice day, I hope." he walked around behind her. "you know, I was quite disappointed when I heard that the water element had been stolen from you."

 

Frost's eyes widened with fear. "I couldn't help it, they were too powerful, they killed my dragon." she babbled. "I never could have beat all of them, there were too many of them, I-" she stopped talking when anarchy raised his hand.

 

"I don't want excuses, frost. In fact, I don't really want to talk to you at all." he turned around and began to walk away. He paused and spoke without turning back. "kill her."

 

Nightshade grinned and licked her knife. "of course, master."

 

 

 

Garth was searching not far off when heard a scream. He immediately flew into the air and landed on top of an adjacent building. He looked around quickly, his eyes finally catching sight of a small pony lying in an alley. He flew down to find Frost, lying dead on the ground, with an X cut into her flank. Other than that, there was no sin of injury, or an apparent cause of death. just like raek. He searched the alley, but found no evidence of the black mare.

 

 

(it has been brought to my attention, by no less than linguz, that I seem to have forgotten that raek was a manticore. I apologize for this oversight, but as raek is now dead, it doesn't matter much anyway.)

Useing the last bit of his strength jack pounded at the door, hoping something would open it, but by now, he thought he was the only living creature,

(the door is hidden underground. When you step in certain places and do certain things, it comes out. I'll just assume that you did these things by accident while stumbling around, and were too messed up to register any astonishment when a door popped out of the ground. You were just like "door. Knock. Faint")

 

 

(and lol plasma, things are going to be darker with me running this. I like bad things happening in stories. I like it when good guys die. I really like it when the bad side wins, but I think in this one, we'll win. Not without casualties, though.)

 

 

Rigel had been about to offer silvermane a drink when he heard the door being raised. He immediately formed his glass shards and stood at the ready. There was a pounding on the door, followed by silence.

 

"stay there" he said to silvermane, and walked towards the door. He paused a bit, before slowly opening the door, keeping the glass in front of him. He found an unconscious green pony with a beard and a headband laying at the foot of the door.

 

"oh god, another one..." he said under his breath. He pulled him inside. "legacy isnt going to be happy about this..."

Agent frowned, looking at Melody and the new pony. "So you're name is Melody, right? I'll keep that in mind." He snorted, before hearing a banging on the door. "Someone get that. Or rather, prepare to get rid of it." He left the living room and went to the library.

Silvermane slipped under the blanket and proceded to sleep. His parts getting quieter as he became more comfortable.

 

*I just hope she knows what she's getting into."

His parts getting SOFTER.

Melody chewed her lip and held back tears as she experienced the pain from having her mind probed. She blushed as she realized some of the private thoughts Legacy had sifted through.

Oh god, did she really see all of those memories?

"Excuse me... I've got a lot to... think about,"

She gasped as she cantered back to her room, where she closed the door and locked it. Melody layed on her bed and toyed with her amulet, watching the emerald green gem pulse slowly. She dropped it on the ground and silenced herself with her magic and started to sob herself to sleep.

Why did this have to happen now? Oh god, why?

Agent went into the library and scanned the sections until he found a book on pony Anatomy. He took the book out and flipped it to a random page and stared at it. He was angry at the events that occured and couldn't take his mind off of what happened.

 

*Why did this had to happen? I could've done something about it; But you didn't.; All I was doing was working outside! I didn't know that this would lead to the death of a comrade, let alone Raek!; Well it did. There's nothing you can do about it.; Then why do I feel that it's like my fault?!; Because instead of staying inside and training properly with the two other ponies, you fled like a bitch and decided to avoid the situation; How does that relate to anything?!; Two words, Agent Brown.*

 

 

And with that thought, Agent closed the book and slammed his head on the cover. He slowly started to cry, not making a sound as the tears started to come.
