I work at a local equestrian center for at least 4 hours a week. While I don't ride (I want to learn when I get time and money), I lead, halter, tack, feed, groom, etc. the horses, and of course clean out stalls :). Anyone here work around horses, as opposed to just riding them?

Yes. We have two horses currently. One, a Percheron/Paint cross we use primarily for vaulting, the other is an elderly Belgian Draft that used to be a logging horse, award-winning vaulting horse, and various other things but is currently retired due to arthritis and bad hips (she's 23 or so, which is pretty old for a draft breed.)

Once we move to a larger property we'll probably be adding a hitch pair (I'd prefer Gypsy Cobs, but they're frigging expensive over here) for cart work.

I cared for eight, yes 8 horses.. for my in-law's carriage company, when I was younger. Much work and I got to enjoy their company. I do miss them so very much!
