Yeah, kinda dissapointing, but still glad for them. :) Amazing how they could gain a fan for being a bandwagon-jumping sucker for revived franchsies! lol

Also, I think with the new eastern-western conference division system being introduced next year, there is a possibility where the Winnipeg and Phoenix can compete in the finals, of they both make it.

....or was that this year, and I guess they just missed their opportunity? :|

Haha, they did a good job, plus it's nice to have another Canadian team in the mix :) i enjoy that fact! too bad my Canucks didn't go very far this year :( a bit dissapointing!

Oh, i thought i heard that the new Conference system was cancelled for next year, and that they would continue with the regular system, but i could be wrong.

Correct. The NHLPA didn't agree to the new alignment quick enough so the deadline passed. Next season will be the same as this year. I assume the NHL and NHLPA will discuss a new realignment system in the offseason to put into effect in 2013-2014.

I'm hoping the Kings can finally get it overwith with a win tonight. I would like to see them triumph and bask in the glory of their first Cup!

EDIT: Wow...it's over. Another worthy name has been added to Stanley Cup history. After one long, grueling, successful season, for the first time ever, the Los Angeles Kings are your 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Champions. Could not be any more proud of them. They finally redeemed themselves with their achievement of finally winning a Stanley.

Incredible....everyone showed their best. It's this kind of teamwork and connections that help these teams become the successful history-makers that they are. And the same goes for every champion team before them. Only an organization with as strong connections as the mane 6 can only show this kind of performance. It's what is required along with skill among every other organized sport.

Immeasurably remarkable game by the Kings.

History for the Kings tonight:

1. This is the first Cup for this franchise, becoming the third team since the lockout to win their first.

2. At forty-five seasons, they become the oldest NHL franchise to win their first Stanley Cup.

3. The Kings won sixteen games, ten of them on the road in a row.

4. They become the first team to clinch the Cup on home ice since the 2006-'07 Anaheim Ducks.

5. As an eight seed, they become the lowest seed to win the Cup, surpassing the 1994-'95 Devils (the five seed).

6. Jonathan Quick becomes the sixteenth goalie to win the Conn Smythe Trophy.

This was such an impressive run by the LA Kings. Firing their first coach in the middle of the season, they squeaked into the playoffs as the eight seed and faced a powerful Canucks team in the Quaterfinals. They were written off quickly in favor of the powerhouses of the NHL. However, the Los Angeles Kings had a magnificent core who believed they can win. At the right time, they clicked and began knocking on the door.

Of all the teams, the Kings wanted to prove that hockey was going to click in Los Angeles, something that hasn't happened since the early-1990s when Wayne Gretzky played for them.

Tonight…

…The glass slipper fits.

They wanted to prove and were the most hungry. This hunger helped lead this team towards their first Stanley Cup, and they absolutely deserve it. Well done!

The Canucks were actually known as a very physical team. The Kings were capable of beating them (and did) because they matched their skillset, speed, grit, body size, and physicality better than any other team in the West.

No, they beat them because Luongo's a fake and the rest of Canucks need to dive every five seconds to win games.

All right! It's the Playoffs! The problem is that only one channel airs NHL Games here in Guam (NBC Sports Network) so I wouldn't be seeing so much of the action, also I'm glad that the Kings made it to the playoffs too.

I like Toronto, but I know they won't make it past the Bruins sad.png .

The Wings beat the Ducks, but barely. But hey, if they can beat them, I'm sure they'll win this intense series vs. Chicago. Plus it'll be the last year those two teams play each other often. It'll be sad, the rivalry has been going on around 90 years. The bright side, though, there's the small chance that they can meet in the Finals, which would be an absolutely epic series.

But for now, let's just kick back and watch them play each other in the meantime.

To be honest, I'm actually glad that the Senators made it to the playoffs and went ahead to the next round. I'm also happy to see the Kings and the Wings go on ahead too.
