Jade smiled as Axton accepted her offering, and tilted her head as he gave his resolution.

"What do you plan to do?" She asked, getting up after him.

At his comment, she snorted and got onto her hooves. One thing she didn't take likely was a challenge.

"I know I am tough enough!" She retorted, trotting after him.

Axton smirked at Jade, "Well then, little lady, just follow me. Whenever I feel bad I usually like to find some souls and stuff to capture. But what about you?"

He turned his head to her, "Tell me, what does a girl like you do when you're feeling down and want to have fun?"

"Well, I do not capture souls," She teased, smirking at him, then blinked, "Well, I enjoy training or meditating, that usually calms me down. But to have fun, I like to spar, or have fun with somepony else, yes?"

Minutes rolled by. Rarity had felt like the world had paused, but eventually, it started moving again, and she got up off the floor, still blushing slightly.

"Wow, that was incredible. But then, everything about this world is, isn't it? It's a paradise. Maybe one day, when i'm gray, i'll move here, and it'll be just us..."

She caught herself, and virtually ate the sentence she was just speaking.

"Me. I meant me." She flushed for had to have been the thousandth time today, then decided to change the subject.

"Can we take a walk? I'd like to see more of this place, if you don't mind."

@The Down Trotten

Celestia cocked a curious eyebrows as the whips kept going, lashing quickly at the piano and leaving smoldering dents in the wood. It wouldn't last very long under the assault, and he wouldn't much cover to stand under afterwards.

"Oh? Trump card? I'd love to hear it. Or perhaps you'd like to show me?" She watched him get closer, and decided that she would have to change strategy soon; soon he would be too close for the whips to be of much use. Meanwhile, the room itself begin to undergo a notable change; it started to dim slightly, darkening the whole setting noticeably. Strangely enough, however, the little balls of light Celestia had tossed out seemed to grow brighter as they lay around the room, almost as if they were building up for something...

Wood and now piano strings were flying as the piano desintergated. "Come on your highness, your fights with me not the beautiful piece of musicery, I was hoping for no collateral damage." as he finished the sentence the piano gave shredding death whines and shrieks as the strings began to break and snap by the score. He took a peek at the orbs. They couldn't help but make him feel nervous and though he didn't know magic well, if he had to guess he would say that explosions were in his near future Alright, not much time left here, lets take a gambit

He took a deep breath and pulled the hoof cuffs out of his bag, cuffed one end to himself and left the other swinging open. Timing the wipes, he jumped out from behind his decaying cover and allowed the second whip to strict his foreleg. The burning sensation stung and for an untrained stallion as himself made his eyes water, but it was a trade off. As the wipe pulled back it brought him with it and with as much grace as he could muster he slid next to her and with a click the other cuff was around her regal hoof, opposite to his. The pain of his burn  hiding under the new aderline rush that he had just received, allowed him to smile "Now your highness would you care to dance?" he held out his cuffed hoof, gave it a tug and caught her majesty's in his. With two of his legs burned it was going to be a wobbly waltz but hey he had made it this far right?

Celestia cocked a curious eyebrows as the whips kept going, lashing quickly at the piano and leaving smoldering dents in the wood. It wouldn't last very long under the assault, and he wouldn't much cover to stand under afterwards. "Oh? Trump card? I'd love to hear it. Or perhaps you'd like to show me?" Strangely enough, however, the little balls of light Celestia had tossed out seemed to grow brighter as they lay around the room, almost as if they were building up for something...

He turned around with holding a sigh. If this Doctor character was going to engage him it was at least polite to talk back, even if he didn't understand him one bit "sensical? Not really, it makes as much sense as calling me Mailcolt, you do have a name don't you?" he looked at this doctor and assumed if he did have one he wasn't going to tell him "Well.. I'm going to call you Brown, cause your brown, makes about as much sense as Doctor, heck I'll even throw Doc in front, so hows about it Doc Brown? Nice to meet you all the same I suppose" he held out his hoof "I'm Crash Test, Ditzy's new employee"

Doctor Whooves coddled Ditzy Doo and simpered brightly as she giggled. He stood nervously before her; his insides mollified and cheeks burnt a red rosy color. He looked around shiftly, as if he were hiding something but in reality, he was just that awkward. However, he eventually cleared his throat to speal but he was cut off be another pony who emerged from Ditzy's home. He was aloof while looking at him and far more engrossed in excogitating why he was there instead of who he was. It was very apparent that he was disgruntled in addition to being uncomfortable by his presence in Ditzy's home.

@,

Ice felt like he was in a dream for a moment. But then suddenly he "woke up." realizing that Rarity had gotten up and asked him a question, "........Hm? Huh? Oh, right."

He got up and stood beside her, while blushing, "Was incredible wasn't it? And I mean, this place is awesome." He opened his book and turned to a page in it. Reading what was on it, he looked Rarity over. She was a mess. A great big beatiful mess. Ironic? Yes. But that's how Ice saw Rarity, and nothing would change that, "Oh please, Rarity. A beatiful mare like you doesn't turn gray. You stay looking beautiful forever especially with your wet hair down," he said with a quick kiss to her cheek.

Still looking at his book, he walked over to the flowing waterfalls/river, and got on his knees, "Hm....the Healing Waters. Perfect." He brushed some of the water onto his neck, and in a matter of seconds, the cut that was once there was gone. It had fully healed. Ice decided to have a bit of fun, and to cure Rarity's burns at the same time, "Oh, Rarity...~" he said in a singsong voice, "Thinkfast!"

He splashed some of the water onto her, and one of her burns was fully healed, "On the first stop of our grandiso tour of the the Ice Clans' Sacred Grounds: The Healing Waters. Just take a step over here, Raresy, and your cuts will be healed. Look." He demonstrated with his right hoof, which had a cut. He showed the cut to Rarity, and put his hoof in the water. After he took his hoof out, the cut was gone and his skin fully healed, "These waters are powered by my family's healing magic. Capable of healing any injury. Come on. Take a dip, the water's great."

Little did Rarity know, the very moment she got near Ice, he'd push her into the waters forcefully as a prank. Ice was snickering away quietly at the thought.

Celestia smiled wryly at the suggestion, and the whips disappeared as the piano crashed to the floor with a groan She lit up her horn, and without warning, music began to play, echoing beautifully throughout the room without body or voice.

Celestia had decided to play along, and she needed to complete the scene. And so, holding the chained hoof up, Celestia bowed, and began to dance, leading with a complicated series of steps and twirls as she swept Rhetoric Rash off of the steps and into the center of the hall.

"Nothing in here's real, by the way. Just magic re-assembled into useful form. There's nothing to destroy." She spun him around, still smiling brightly as she turned him about. "So, you seem have me right where you want me, although it seems i'm a bit stronger than you expected. What now?" She waited, continuing to lead him throughout the hall, while slowly, the lights continued to dim, almost to the point of making it difficult to see for both combatants. She continued walking, wondering where she was being taken.

The amount of which she could almost toy with him, or to put it more fairly, humor him was rather frustrating. Even if he knew it was no fault of her own, he was still annoyed at the fact that even some of his best and daring plans couldn't phase her. But that wasn't why he was here, at least not the main reason. Focusing on not falling over and keeping up with the Princess was a challenge enough "Your right, your a lot stronger then I anticipated... and I tried to have no exceptions considering who you are your highness" as he finished the sentence he was given too complicated of a dance step, landed on his burned hoof wrong and stumbled rather foolishly. Picking himself up as quickly as he could, being half dragged by the gracious royal, he tried his best to act as if nothing happened

"But I can't waste any time, I'm sure the audience is getting bored and you must have a stunning conclusion planned for them." he tried to glance at the ever glowing orbs but halted himself for fear of falling down again. "So here it is Princess of the sun, my humble trump card. Are you fit to rule Equestria?" he asked with as much clarity that a dancing stallion could afford, and even continued "And don't give me an answer, for it is not my business to know, not yet. For I cannot answer the question, the only one who can answer the question is you. Only you know everything there is to know about you, and there for are the only one who can pass fair judgment. But ah yes the problem, will you pass fair judgment on yourself? Will you be to fair, or too harsh? No one will know or can know. So you have to ask yourself is your answer, the only answer which is even viable, sufficient enough for such an important question?" he stopped and tried to regain his breath, the finale was coming and the only thing he could do to prepare for it was hope he could still walk afterwards

Rarity laughed openly when the water struck her, but it wasn't that bad; she was already wet, and the feeling of the cuts healing up on her body was nice, she had to admit. Still... it wasn't something that she wanted to go through a full experience with. Not in the slightest.

"I don't know. I think i'm fine right here. It looks a little cold. And spirity..." She walked over slowly beside Ice Blizzard, dipping her individual hoofs in and watching them heal up in interest.

-------

@The Down Trotten

Celestia never stopped smiling, and she never stopped dancing, except perhaps slowing down a little to allow Rhetoric to keep proper pace. But in her eyes, there was understanding, a very keen one. She knew the answer to that question; it was one that she had asked herself many, many times before. And she had always come up with the same answer...

Her attention was interrupted as the lights finally dimmed, then flickered, then went out. There was a hush, and then light absolutely exploded through the air around them from the orbs, slamming down through the hall in concentrated beams about twice the size of Celestia's forleg. They moved slowly, but surely, cutting intricate patterns through the dark room, lighting up only the places around them that they touched.

"It's the final act." She spoke simply, softly as she continued to move, and it would be hard to hear even for somepony who was next to her over the roar of the beams. "These beams don't cut, or burn, but they do happen to have enough power in them to temporarily paralyze any who touch them. Myself included." Her face was blank and expressionless, although it'd be impossible to tell in the dark anyway.

"So, I believe it is my turn for a question. Rhetoric Rash, you came all this way and challenged the Princess of Equestria to a fight, but not for glory, or revenge, or even for the chance to fight. You came to ask a simple question. But why? What is it you wish to gain from making me question myself? And what is it that you want?" She spun him suddenly, causing them both to just barely miss a beam that swept by them, leaving a glowing trail as it crossed the room.

He gulped as the beam of light nearly grazed him. Being paralyzed didn't sound all that pleasant, but it wouldn't hurt either. The Princess was going easy on him, and try as he might there was a part of him that boiled in anger at the thought. Fortunately he was way to busy with the current situation to let his passions rise. Clearing his throat he prepared to answer "To gain?... I don't have anything to gain, perhaps a purpose, or even maybe even a piece to the grand puzzle I've made for myself. But that is a pipe dream, as for what I want? I want Equestra safe, and those in it, and I fear in our current state we face troubling times" there were some other things he wanted too of course, but he had put them aside so many times and they seemed almost selfish to even desire he left them buried. He paused for a breath and barely missed another orb as it whizzed by his face

"Let my try to answer it this way. Why did I come all this way to ask you a question. Your and the other alicorns are the only ones with the answers, your the only ones who would care, your the only ones who can actually change things in this world of ours. I've tried starting from the bottom, but its produced nothing, so I'm working from the top" yet another orb passed by him. He knew it was the Princesses doing that he was still on his feet, and at this point he felt rather pathetic  "I apologize I couldn't have given you a better opponent, such a dull way to introduce yourself to the arena. But I fear, I shall meet the next orb face first."  not to his surprise his royal questioning was more or less a failure, and he had succeed in only making himself look like a full blown idiot.

"So, I believe it is my turn for a question. Rhetoric Rash, you came all this way and challenged the Princess of Equestria to a fight, but not for glory, or revenge, or even for the chance to fight. You came to ask a simple question. But why? What is it you wish to gain? What is it that you want?" @,

Blizzard was, once again, distracted by Rarity. He really didn't want to push her all the way in if she didn't want to. So he decided to show her what else there was, "I see. Wait right here, I'll be right back...."

Ice left for a moment, and came back with a lei of purple flowers. He sat down behind Rarity, and lifted up her wet hair so the lei could go around her neck, "Oh dear Celestia, her hair is like silk....."

After doing so, he sat down next to her again, and said, "Heliotropes. A nice purple flower. There's actually a whole field of them. Want me to show you?" he asked eagerly.

"I can imagine so," Jade agreed, nodding once, then tilted her head again, "Though, like I asked you before, if you are tired of this duty, why do you not simply leave and let this employer of yours find somepony else to hunt souls for them?"

She continued walking, wondering where she was being taken.

Axton sighed, "Because that was my only way of earning a living. I don't think you understand....with my shameful background, and horrifying track record, anypony would be stupid to hire me for work."

He turned away from her, and say down on a bench, "You don't know what it's like to be the bad guy...."

Rarity gratefully accepted the flowers; they were beautiful, and smelled wonderful. She got up to go follow Ice Blizzard; she had wanted to see the rest of this place, and now she would get the chance. Outside of the wonders, and Ice Blizzard, her mind spun, just thinking of all of the beautiful designs that she could come up with...

-------

@The Down Trotten

"You are wrong." Celestia stopped suddenly, and the music ended as well. She looked down at Rhetoric Rash, ignoring the beams continuing their almost lazy way around the room as she looked right at him and began to talk.

"You may not have been a crowd pleaser, Rhetoric Rash, but that does not mean that you were not a good opponent. You have done something that very few competitors here could or would ever do; challenged me in my mind. You have forced me to think, asked me something that few ponies would ever think to say, and done so boldly. But, more than that, you do so not out out of selfish reasons, or anger, but because you feel compassion for those around you." She stopped and paused, closing her eyes, and shivering slightly.

"But, is that enough?"

She shouted suddenly, and the darkness seemed to concentrate on Celestia, pulling in for one shuddering second, before she quite literally burst into flames. It was not a slow reaction; every inch of her body simply became wreathed in raw, roaring fire, glowing in the darkness and burning hot enough to make the handcuffs sizzle and bubble in a white hot glow. Before they could melt however, she ditched them; she teleported above Rhetoric in a burst of solid light that briefly lit up the whole room like a small sun. Stretching out her wings to both sides, she rose above him, slowly. Flames rumbled, then burst out from her body even further, towering towards the ceiling and spiraling off towards sides of the room as the shape of a phoenix formed in the air, wings enormous and sparking and beak snapping fiercely. It towered over him at first, screaming menacingly as it suddenly dived down, looking ready to devour him. And then... it disappeared, vanishing into the air as Celestia stopped and fell to the floor. The errant light beam that had just passed over Rhetoric Rash's body and caught her wing instead still continued its lazy path across the room briefly, before disappearing, along with all of the other beams, then the orbs themselves. The light returned to the room as Celestia dropped to the floor in front of Rhetoric, unmoving.

She sat up on the bench, right next to him. "You are no 'bad guy', Axton. A bad pony would feel no remorse for the wrongs he has committed."

Strix continued to watch the conversation between Fluttershy and this...Nightingale, if he heard correctly. He folded his forelegs, watching closely. This new pony was cutting off the smaller pegasus's route, seemingly deliberately.

He had no idea why he was feeling so protective of that mare. Possibly because of her fragile appearance, or her kindness to him. Possibly both.

Griffonstone was never the nicest place, not even to its locals, so acts of kindness toward him were rare. At least up until that mare patched up his leg that she'd broken. That still seemed weird to him.

It didn't really matter that the orb hadn't hit him. First as the cuffs melted, his leg felt the searing pain, crying out in surprise and pain he fell to the floor . Finally as the cuffs melted off, and as Rhetoric was trying to stay awake he dizzily looked up and beheld the awesome power of the Princess. Caught in awe and fear he was temporarily blinded from the burst of light, only to regain his sight as the Phoenix bore down on him.. Having no time to react his heart skipped a beat and he lay gaping as the Princess dropped to the floor.  Then all at once, the pain and the confusion rushed o him. It was like that one nightmare where he was being burnt at the stake, expect it was all concentrated in his one leg. . He looked over at the Princess bleary eyed. "Pr-pr-princ-princess?...are...oh why...are you ok?" what was he saying of course she would be ok, but had he won?This...this couldn't be right.

He shook his head, he couldn't worry about that right now. Slowly he picked himself, refusing to use his seared leg he stood there hobbled his mind racing. What do you mean? Is it enough?...Enough for what? He groaned in pain and deep thought, perhaps now wasn't the best time for thought was it? he lifted his head to what he thought must have been the crowds "I think the fight is over, unless of course the Phoenix herself wishes to rise again..."

"Fighting whose fighting? I was merely hoping for a simple hoof shake" he dropped his polite hoof "But I can see that's not going to happen, so I shall leave you to be and go clean up my mess. Have a good day Ditzy, have a good day...Doctor." the amount of acidity that drip with the word doctor was almost enough to sting Crash's own mouth. He didn't mind though, he was thoroughly pissed at this Doctor, all he wanted to do as to get to know his employer better and fix what he had broken. Now he would have to apologize later and make amends with this fishy stallion

Ditzy swallowed, not feeling exactly comfortable with how the situation was unfolding. It was starting to sound like the two stallions didn't like each other.

She turned to the Doctor and looked into his eyes as best she could. "Doc, what's gotten into you today? You're not usually this...accusing!"

Vinyl was a bit taken back. For being such a go getter and up tempo. She didn't think Rune wasn't up or the party scene, or at least a performance. Apparently she had misread him for who he was, "Uh yeah." She cocked an eyebrow. "Are you alright?" She asked with concern, "Did I do something?

rune smiled weakly. "im alright...i just burned up a lot of magical energy in my last few performances. clones arent easy to make, after all, and i made something like...12, or something."

he looked the ball over, and everyone there was just waiting for the last performance, as that would be the cue to leave.

@@Fractured,

(the field:

sig-4055964.sig-4055964.flowers-field-wa

)

Ice took Rarity to the field. I was a big open field with all kinds of different flowers including sunflowers, red roses, white roses, lilies, but mostly the heliotropes. He looked at Rarity as he pointed out to the field, "There it is, Rarity. The Ice Clans' Garden/Flower Field. Over 20 different kinds of flowers here, but mostly these..." he said as he touched a lei of his own that he put on, "These heliotropes represent eternal love. One of the many things that my clan has practiced over the last thousand years. And by me being the last active clan member, it is my job to uphold their ideals of love and peace. All my life, I've tried to do my best to uphold those values, and...I....you're...."

He gulped down his throat as he continued, "Rarity...I....I notice how much you do for others each and every day. You stay up all night to fix an outfit, while depriving yourself of sleep. You give to others when they don't even ask. You do so much, yet....I don't see anypony doing anything for you. I mean, no one is doing as much for you as you do for others, no one is there to pat you on the back after a long day of hard work. Nopony is even there to cook you a nice meal every once in a while if you're tired."

He tried to back himself up, "And I know you say you don't deserve all this praise or admiration, but I've been silently admiring you ever since I met you. You deserve so many great things, Rarity. You could easily go live in Canterlot with all the rich, high-society ponies, but you don't. You chose to stay by your friends and live in Ponyville, where your work is admired most. And, that's why I liked to spend time with you. I mean, you're so happy and sweet, and lovely, I always used to feel, 'I'm never gonna get on her level.' But after the first day I met you, became your friend, and got to know you better, I felt like....the happiest stallion alive." His cheeks started to turn red, "That's also why I did all I could for you, getting those tickets for you, making you breakfast, taking you to that party, trying on your stallion outfit, and helping you practice, I mean, every day I spend with you is like the best day ever to me, because I fell like somepony should give back to the most generous mare in Equestria. Whether it's physical needs, or my undivided time and attention, I'll always do my best for you no matter what." At this point, he was visibly getting nervous, shuffling his hooves on the ground, "A-anyway, what I'm trying to say, Rarity....is that," he started to sweat, "I....I-I lo..ve...y--"

He suddenly uttered, looking her right in her eyes, and just a centimeter from their faces touching, "I love you."

"Anypony who judges you based on your misfortunes does not deserve your services," Jade stated matter-of-factly, frowning as she looked ahead, "it is difficult to look to the future if you cannot take yourself from the past."

She sat up on the bench, right next to him. "You are no 'bad guy', Axton. A bad pony would feel no remorse for the wrongs he has committed."

Axton nodded. He knew that what Jade was saying made sense, although, he still had his own doubts, "I mean, I guess you're right. I don't know."

He sighed, and looked up at the sky. It seemed like a nice day that day, "Hm. Never see a day like this in Tartarus. Really nice out, huh? Wish everyday was as nice as today."

"I shall let you think it over," Jade decided, smiling at him, "I do not wish to drill my ideas into your head, yes?"

She fondly looked up at the clear blue sky, her smile growing wider. "Yes, it is definitely a pleasant morning. The mountains back home give you the best look of the sunrise, too."

Tyra watched as the statues helped Lorec approach her. This was the final moment, she knew it.

Those had to be the spirits of his family helping him.

He began a charge toward her, which she responded to in kind. Her legs were aching and she felt ready to collapse, but this fight was still on, and she wouldn't stop until it was over.

With a forced roar, she jerked her head to the side and gave her axe a heavy swing to meet with Lorec's sword, using all her might.

Hopefully it would still be enough to stop him.

Lorec, having thrown all of his remaining strength into the swing, felt as though it took ages for it to land. As time seemingly slowed for him, it felt as though his life had began to flash before his eyes, reliving memories almost as if they were the exact events occurring for the first time, and not just echoes from a past long gone.

He saw all the battles he had ever taken part in.

He witnessed the legend of the Saduarian beast grow evermore gargantuan.

He experienced once more the joy of family, the idolizations from others, and many other pleasures of life.

He revisited the agony of how he had lost all of it, along with the guilt of having done so.

And finally, with the clashing of blades, he was brought back to the present, and reveled in a new sensation. The feeling of acceptance and atonement, along with finally being able to feel true pride once more. But not in himself. In Tyra.

When the blades clashed, Lorec was indeed stopped by Tyra's swing. Slumped over as he had used his entire body to swing what was left of his zweihander, Lorec was now only held upward by Tyra's opposing weight. That is, until he shifted slightly over to the side, and continued to fall to the ground, right beside Tyra. Turning over as he fell, he landed hard on his back, and the sword dropped out of the great minotaur's mouth.

Breathing heavily and gently, it was as if he were a great bear hibernating, save for the fact that even still, he was in fact conscious. Beaten bloody and pushed past the absolute threshold of his limit to achieve what even he thought himself incapable of, he could only but smile sorrowfully at the mare who had defeated him. If she wanted the truth behind why he wanted such a hellacious battle that could have easily killed him, then he would more than provide an answer. And besides, he would need her help to deliver the last strike toward his true goal...

" Krigare Tyra.... You stand victor over the Beast of Saduaris."

---------------------------------------------------------

The acolytes of Lorec's unit only sat in silence. No screaming or cheering, no fists raised or hysteria. Only observation in silence as the battle had finally concluded.

Near them, the gentle cries of a youth could be heard. A young female Minotaur, crying out for her father and her first new friend to end the battle. Kazas, Syuren, alrahm, and Vorrin sat in silence, with Syuren trying to comfort her as though he were an older brother.

" Papa... Tyra... Please stop fighting and come back to me...."

In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law? Is it like the hand of God, hovering above? At least it is true, that man has no control... Even over his own will.
