@@Fractured,
Quickly, he grabbed one of her forelegs as she passed, and made her look him in the eye, "it's nothing like you think. I'm sorry I left. I really am. And I know I can't make up for it. It's been six damn months, and I disappeared, but please don't make me pay for my mistake." He stepped closer, a heaviness in his eyes as they pleaded like a puppy. "Luna, the star flickered, but it never fell. It left, but it returned... brighter, and not for itself, but to give it all back to the moon."
His gaze rolled to the floor and he blinked, vibrations coursing through him as he held her hoof. his legs were wobbly, and his throat tight as he choked over his ramblings. "I didn't know what to do, and I didn't want to hurt you, she said if I stayed that I'd hurt you. Just like every other stallion before, and I know I'm different. I told you I am my own, and I am. Always will be, but could I run the risk of hurting you?" he asked, his voice thin. "I was a coward," he admitted, eyes fixed on the floor.
"But I didn't run for me, know I ran for you. I'm a blubbering mess, but you've never left my mind. When Nightmare Moon told me you would be broken if I stayed I couldn't imagine you." He lifted his eyes to hers, stepping closer to her. "You're beautiful. Strong. Passionate, and call me selfish, but I wasn't worried about Equestria's fate, but yours." He stopped. A few moments passed. "I'm scared, Luna. I was so scared I'd hurt you, and now I'm scared I'm going to lose you. In a life where all I've ever been is alone. I don't want to be alone--no, I don't want you to be alone. "I left you... alone. And... I know how that feels, actually..." he trailed off, then took a deep breath, "believe me, I-I know how it feels." He closed his eyes and shuddered, and cold tingling coursed up his back. He reopened his eyes, transfixed on hers. He stared. His neck tensed. His blood rushed, and he felt for the disappearing ground as a sense of weightlessness filled him. He fell forward, and caught himself around her neck, panting. He squeezed tight, and shoved his maw into the base of neck.
Muffled, he spoke, "I was so worried about hurting you... that I didn't stop to think that if I left you alone, I'd do just that." He sobbed. Unable to face her. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry." He hugged her tighter. "Accept me or not, you have all my shine. And I know it'll never be enough, but it's all I have." He stared just over her back, mindlessly. A relief overcoming him, but he still shook. "I'll never leave you alone," he whispered, "please forgive me."
