Embarrassing Closet Brony Moments

Recommended Posts

I haven't been a brony for a for long so I don't have any where I have been completely exposed yet. But at the end of class I was going through my emails (yes I do that) and I came across a section of like twelve emails that were from MLP forums and I am pretty sure a bunch of people saw them. I turned around and a bunch of people looked away :P

When I did a small presentation about my self for example about my hobby and such. I had just started watching the show and started in high school and even if some already sort of knew by seeing the wallpapers on my laptop and well this site. I was so embarrassed for no real reason. I mean I accually excpected atleast someone to laugh a bit but nope no one did. Even tho nobody minded they sort of pretended to be bronies to witch made it worse. They have fortunatly stopped but god damit was it a pain in the ass.

My one of my friends said he started watching the show.

I remember having my bluetooth speaker paired with my phone, which I had left downstairs in the living room, I was upstairs in my room and decided to put on a playlist of pony music. I then spent the next few minutes trying to work out why no sound came out the phone.

I then went downstairs to enquire about it, and stopped dead when I heard This Day Aria playing out on my bluetooth speaker with my mom looking rather confused. Needless to say, everyone eventually worked out my love for pones XD

Is being a brony a problem where most of you guys live?

I'm a 20 year old brony and I'm pretty open about it... I've converted some of my friends to watching MLP and I don't care if anyone know I watch the show...

I still get embarrassed when people comment on it though... For example I was wearing a Luna shirt to class (not the first time)... It was before a final exam and a guy in my class asked me if that was a unicorn on my shirt and I just said "Yes" and he said "Cool" nobody else said anything... End of story :D

I came to school one day with a Derpy wristband from Hot Topic. It was hidden under my coat sleeve until I took off my coat. My two friends who were with me noticed the wristband. One of my friends giggled, but both of them thought it was cute. I don't think they knew it was from MLP. I'm not a closet brony now, but I was at this time.

I was at work and my bosses boss walked past my desk behind me and saw that I was looking at stuff on this website. He asked what it was and I told him it was the new My Little Pony series, then showed him a blind bag pony that was sitting on my desk since I bought it at lunch time. I explained I was having trouble trying to collect all the series 3 trading cards and had to take a train to a different town in order to get my hands on a box of the Absolute Discord CCG cards since all the local shops were out of stock.

He fired me of course OH WAIT no he didn't he was just mildly amused until I explained the Metal Gear Soild reference in the recent Discord episode and then followed up with the Series 1 Star Wars throne room scene reference.

He didn't care what I'm like and neither does anyone else I know at work or elsewhere. I am over 30 and don't give a darn how people react.

Pro Tip for younger folks: you care less about being judged as you get older, until you reach around age 50 and stop caring altogether. Don't worry about embarassing stuff, because even if it's really bad at the time eventually you won't care :)

These threads are always hilarious XD

My embarrassing moment was when i had to print of some things from my email at work and i had several people around me. I then saw my email inbox was filled with emails from MLP forums XD i quickly clicked on what i needed and one guy jokingly said about how i was hiding emails from porn websites. I laughed along of course! Although that would have been easier to explain. Nobody saw thankfully

I was just waking up one day, and i dont know if it was the first thing i heard as i was waking up or if it was the end of a dream, but i heard my dad say "Dont worry *says my name* we'll cure you of liking my little pony" followed by him and my mum laughing. I still to this day dont know if it was the tail end of a dream or real life. My mum one day also needed to borrow some batteries from me, which i keep in the same draw as random small pony toys (about 3 or 4) and i dont know if when she grabbed a few batteries she saw any of the toys, and right now, have no clue if they know 100% about it or have absolutely no clue, and im way to scared to admit / ask about it

OOOOH I had one today. So my friend and I were hanging out, and he got on my computer. *note* he is a total internet nerd, just like me, so he knows what bronies are *end of note* So he turns on my computer monitor and I still had a couple tabs open. One was youtube (which was the one open when he turned it on, thank God) and the other one was, yep you guessed it, MLP forums. He tries to read the tab and I quickly reach over my desk, grab the mouse, and shut down the computer, all while acting completely weird and nervous. Close one guys, close one.

The most embarassing moment for being a closet has to be when I came out of the closet (at least to myself) and my brother. My brother asks me to take out my phone to film something and as I had just changed my phone background a few days before to twilight I was naturally nervous. He of course saw it and mentioned "why do you have a pony as your phone background?" I stuttered of course but said I was a fan of mlp but by quite a brony. He moved on pretty quickly from the topic but I came out for the first time I liked mlp and it was embarrassing. In any case later that day I just decided I realized I was a brony and was ok coming out of the closet

I'm slowly trying to "come out of the brony closet," so I shouldn't have too many more embarrassing closet brony moments.

My brother now knows I'm an MLP fan and is becoming one too, (he still doesn't know what a brony is,) and I'm trying to find an opportunity to let my parents know.

After thinking it over, I don't think they will care that much about it as long as I tone down my appreciation for the show around them.

That dream part is really weird. As long as enough time passes, I don't think you will have much to worry about.

I'd bet he's now convinced that you do porn.

Before I was "out of the closet", I was secretly drawing my OC (in clop from, to make it more embarrassing), and somebody saw me. As I hadn't drawn the "beauty" yet, he just saw it as a pony drawing. That didn't mean he didn't bring it up to the entire class.

Yes. This is about half the responses on this, so what, it's the only time I could think of.

Why would you want to draw an OC, a ponified version of yourself, in clop form in the first place. I wouldn't dare even draw a regular pony in any of my classes. Much less a clop form of anypony.

So.

My dad discovered I had a twilight figurine, a Lyra figurine, a Pinkie mini figurine, a Lotus (or was it Aloe?) mini figurine, a MLP comic book, 5 MLP tees, 2 MLP lanyards, an iPod with an MLP background, an iPhone with an MLP background, and a full Twilight Sparkle outfit (for Halloween, obviously).

He used his royal Canterlot voice.

I wont judge you, as I'm not that kind of person. I was just wondering how you had the bravery, as a closet brony, to draw a clop pony in a public area lol

Well...as I said, I didn't draw the "beauty" yet.

Go to Denver Comic Con (last year) wearing my t-shirt with my OC on it (I had for the last brony convention as almost a "name tag"). Go to table with Tony Fleecs and he says "hey you look a little familar, do i know you". Confused I say no, but we talk quite a bit.

The next day it occurred that he was likely commenting on my shirt and my oc which he may have seen thru the music i've released, not my face which i thought he was talking about. Realized i missed a golden opportunity to chat about fan music and my part. **kick self for about 5 min**

Did plan to meet up with 2 other coworkers that i was prepared to explain i was a brony, didn't run into either of them as cell phones did not work due to volume of people at one event. Almost relieved.....

I have made brony music since 2011. I like all kinds of music and genres. I'm sure you'll like some of it..

Here's My YouTube..I have several albums on Bandcamp and Pony.FM.

Check out the 20+ Musician project Maressey which I am running.

I've made a post about this sort of thing in a similar thread, but I think it would be better suited here.

I got dangerously close to causing one.

Back in mid-2011, I was a closet brony, trying my best to make sure literally no one knew. One day, I was creeping looking at my friend's YouTube feed, and I noticed that he liked a video titled School in 1 Word, a video that consisted of Pinkie Pie saying, "Boring!"

As I got into the taxi that took us to school the next day, I asked him, "Are you a brony?"

His response was among the lines of, "No! Why?" I then said, "Well, you liked that one video." He seemed flustered and fought back with, "So what if I liked one video? That doesn't make me a brony."

Thankfully, no one else in the cab knew what a brony was, so the conversation didn't last.

Little did I know that he actually was; he was trying not to show anyone.

Months later, I told him that a certain YouTuber we both watched was one, and he jokingly said, "Let's become one as well!" and promptly talked about MLP a lot. Three years later, nothing's changed.

The only embarrassing time I've had with this is when my dad sporadically opens my door. We were talking about My day at school. Normal right? Well I was feeling particularly tired that day and lightly tossed my Vinyl Scratch wallet onto the foot of my bed. So when my burst in the door, he sees a new item that contrast quite well with a white blanket. A purple and black wallet with dj pon3 on it. He picks it up and looks at it, "where did you get this?" he says. "A friend gave it to me" I say which isn't a lie. I in fact did get it from a friend named Kim. Shivers run up my spine and my heart jumped out of my chest. My dad places my wallet back and silently walks out of my room. I later found out he already knew I was a brony. He uses a lot of technology so he knows alot about everything.that was the most embarrassing. And also my downfall. Oops.but now I live in the house hold not judged and watch and enjoy myself as I please.
