Agreed, I just wanted to make sure. I respect your zeal for an uplifting spirituality and wish more people had it. I can't stand the cynics, the martyrs, and the nihilists; we need more people that are willing to stand up and cry like Rainbow Dash, "I'm awesome, throw all of your hatred at me, it will not crush my spirit!" (Okay maybe Rainbow wouldn't put it quite as formally but you get my idea.)

Is there any other religion/spirituality that tells you that you are capable of doing something and that you are good?  Because every other belief system I have seen just plain craps on you and your worldview.  You're either a sinner or a fool or unenlightened.  The Imperial Creed revels in the fact that Humanity can go and do good without being shackled by fear and superstition.

Gentlemen, I am no fluffy animal easy to bruise.  I appreciate the defense, Accord, but it is not needed.

 

It was not a joke, but it was an exaggeration.  I've studied Christianity about the same as any other faith, and while the teachings are subjective, the fact exists that Exodus 20:5 does indeed say the future generations will suffer for the sins of their progenitor simply because God is a jealous being.  But I digress, I will not derail this thread by continuing this here.

 

The exaggeration indeed served my purpose in quickly describing the Imperial Creed and its benefits over other faith - the same as any who would preach their belief.  If you would like to continue this discussion, I would be more than willing to do so in a different thread or private conversation.

 

 

I also realized I forgot to answer your question on which rank I would hold.  If I joined the Steel Confessors I would be a Techmarine, or possibly a Chaplain; for Space Wolves, a Runepriest.

There was a neat book I came across before called the "Tao of Pooh", where it compares the personalities and actions of the characters in the Whinny the Pooh stories to the teachings of Taoism.  It was definitely an interesting read, as it presents the fundamentals of Taoism in easy to digest segments.  The book does get a little preachy, and does repeat itself, but it was a good way to pass time slowly reading it.

Again, speak for yourself. I would never presume to call another's faith false or inferior to Christianity and have been raised that the best way one "preaches" one's faith in God is just by being a good person.

I would be a Company Champion for any of my three chapters because they train to be specialists in single combat and bodyguards to the Chaplains or Captains and I always like the idea of being a person's appointed protector/enforcer.

But as I have mentioned before this is supposed to be about spirituality, not religion. I know religion can become a very touchy and controversial subject :c
Any nerdling games tend to cause heated debate as well unfortunately.
 

Off topic but I remember having fun playing Magic with some friends, but they are now ex-friends since they would take the game so seriously they would yell and argue over rules and even verbally attack someone if they forgot to take their own life points or something, honest little mistakes -sigh- It's over now tho c:

Runepriests for the lorekeeping and crafting.  Same with Techmarine, as their role is to maintain and improve the technology used by the Astartes to protect humanity.  Chaplain because those sick helmets.

Ultimately, my faith is closely tied to the teachings of the Imperial Creed in that humans are awesome and can do amazing things, however I also practice the live and let live of Taoism, so it takes a -lot- to antagonize me.

I'm not religious but I do yoga and meditate sometimes. Meditation is a beautiful experience where we can relax get away from the world. You get a feeling of love, light, peace and harmony both to your body, spirit, heart, and soul.

I would personally call that a very religious experience if it's done regularly but tomato, tomato . . . that doesn't really work when not speaking it does it?

 

In any case, I also regularly meditate and experience similar to what you describe. I do this usually in conjunction with my Kung Fu.

Well then, at least by the definition the OP laid out (see last page), then yes. Religion to me, is more all inclusive.

 

On that subject though, if there was a Buddhist, Hindu, or other faith with meditation as part of its practice, do you think you would consider joining it?
