Role/Job: Noble. He is head of the Silvercolt family, making money producing weapons for the Royal guard. He also has charities set up to help the poor in Canterlot and regularly donates to hospitals and the Royal Guard to ensure they can continue running.

 

Apperance: He is of average height and slim build. He has a medium-length jet-black mane which hangs mostly limply around his head and neck when well-groomed or tied back, though by default it tends to be rather messy and slightly spiky on the top layers. His tail is also neatly groomed and jet-black, but is also spiky closer to the base due to layering and being half as long as a mare’s tail. He has violet eyes and, at times, an intense, almost evil-looking stare that seems like he can look into a pony’s soul. His coat is a pale shade of lavender.

 

Personality: Noble is charismatic and usually intelligent, but also compassionate and rather idealistic. He tends to abide by a personal code of honour that affects the majority of his decision-making, though he will also disregard his code of honour in order to make a decision if he needs to. He is also protective of family and friends. However, when he loses his cool, he tends to explode and release all his anger and frustration at once, leaving him to try and fix things afterwards.

 

Bio: Noble is the oldest out of a trio of brothers born into a noble family in Canterlot, and the only unicorn among them. Out of the three, he was the studious type, dedicating himself to studying and managing family affairs. In his free time, he would read historical stories and fairy tales about knights and great beasts during the days of Discord’s reign.

 

During his younger days, he usually took charge of his brothers, leading them into various schemes of his. As young colts, it tended to be raids on the kitchen and using their combined skills to successfully reach the cookie jar. Noble also discovered a fondness for acting and would often try to act out stories and play pretend with his brothers, though he took it further and fashioned an entire code of honour that he would use to guide his actions, though it underwent changes as he grew older and began to understand the concept better. 

 

In his early teen years, Noble expressed an interest in swordsmanship and took it up as a hobby, with his brother taking up blacksmithing as well. He spent several years practicing until he’d perfected his style and found a taste for the longsword. He continued to practice his style to ensure his skills don’t dull and it serves as good exercise.

 

Frustrated at being a ‘Blank Flank’ for far longer than most and looking for a purpose to his life, Noble began to travel Equestria during his later teen years after his parents passed away. Eventually, he ran into a wandering writer named Aegis Dare, with whom he travelled for a time. The two formed a friendship and Noble found a measure of inner peace with the revelation that there are two sides to him. The loving brother he was and the adventurer he was becoming. He returned to Canterlot some time later bearing his Cutie Mark.

 

Presently, while he resides in Canterlot and is the current head of his family, Noble continues to travel Equestria for various reasons, be it business or simply to get a break from the tedium of his life.

I'll accept that she might have missed the character, if she wasn't known about. However, Celestia will still have stripped the title of nobility, meaning that House Belle is no longer part of the peerage.

I'd want her to still have her title... Anna didn't do anything and it's not fair that Celestia would do anything to her. That's putting it simply. If they were up north during the time of the battle or in the battle itself they were punished. Belle was completely crippled and that was a good enough punishment. If Anna made herself public, THEN Celestial would do something.

Her family took part in a massive conflict under the Princess's nose. Titles of nobility are awarded to those who contribute to Equestrian society in some spectacular way. They're not give out like candy, and will be taken away immediately if its found out that the power has been abused. (The answer to 'it's not fair' is that it's fair to society.)

 

Entire families can be empowered due to the actions of one individual, likewise they can be torn down by a single individual. That's why I said in the OP, it's crucial that any morally negative actions taken by the nobility -must- be kept secret. It doesn't make sense for her entire family to be assassinated/imprisoned and banished from Canterlot and have her -still- be a noble.

 

Titles can be regained. So if you're bound and determined to have her start out a noble, you're totally free to have her redeem herself and rejoin the peerage in some fashion.

It's become clear to me through the progress of the OOC that my skills as a Gm, while perhaps decent, still leave something to be desired. A number of contentions have cropped up regarding how different aspects of the roleplay work, and I've found it hard to succinctly answer questions raised in a way that allows the roleplay to smoothly move on.

 

This bothers me severely. The ultimate purpose of roleplays is, in my mind, for all participating to have fun. If people aren't having fun, then I'm probably not doing my job correctly.

So here is the problem I'm facing: I don't like rule-heavy systems. I prefer to have the bare minimum to provide the framework, and let the players fill in the rest. Yet at the same time, players sometimes go in directions that conflict with the story. In my understanding, the GM and the rules laid down by the GM are to prevent this from happening, to keep the story moving, and to resolve conflicts that might arise.

 

So now I'm going to ask you guys, the players. What kind of game do you want? Do you prefer a lot of rules, or very few? I -can- write out each and every detail of this roleplay's Equestria, explain each and every aspect of the Nobility, how it works, how the economic situations is, what kind of weather is going to come along next week, and so on. Or I can leave it more open ended, give room for you guys to come up with your own stuff. Or would you like something inbetween? Tell me.

Also, as a random OOC note, this is what is mainly under Wilhelm's control:

 

Wilhelm has heavy influence among scientists, and most of them will defer to him in his field. Even outside his two fields (magical theory and astronomy) there is still the occasional scientist that will listen to him. Furthermore, Wilhelm controls a small fraction of the court, and is angling to control even more via appointment to the position of the aging Scientific Advisor, a pony with some degree of power and influence over actual policy, at least how it stands in a knowledge or a scientific standpoint. Also, Wilhelm has the ability to pull rank with some soldiers, and is actually friends with a general of the Equestrian Army. After all of that, he is very close to the princesses over the last four years, and they like him to varying degrees. Celestia doesn't like him that much, but Wilhelm and Luna have a good relationship.

 

This should clarify; he does not have much influence whatsoever out of Canterlot, but what he does have is potent, and his position near the Princesses allows him information and leeway that most ponies would not have.

Not a lot of rules please. I can live without guns. About the only thing I really want is cannons. Pinkie's party cannon is based off something and I already said how they might work without gunpowder. Which you got to admit is a pretty good augment.

And can you post already, I'm starting to get flaccid.
