I Am NEVER Leaving This Fandom, Even If I Start Hating FiM

The thread about Tommy Oliver leaving got me thinking, and I came to a conclusion: this forums is wonderful, and I never want to leave it. Everyone i meet on here is so kind and caring. I feel i can actually talk to people on here, tell them how I feel. I am not going to give that up just because I may start hating the show. i know this might not sound like much, since im a nobody and not a highly regarded Brony celeb, but, I am here until this forum shuts down (though life may get in the way, I wont leave this forum out of choice)

This is exactly how I am. It would take something quite drastic to make me hate FiM and even more drastic to leave the fandom, but these forums are also a second home to me at this point. I could never just permanently leave. Despite many of the quirks that I have and the depression I feel, discovering this show was one of the greatest things to happen in my life and I will always cherish that. :)

By the by, I would not say you are a nobody, I've seen you around and you seem like quite the intellectual. ;)

I can't see how I'd start hating on FIM, especially that I've been in the fandom since I was 11 years old.

But I completely agree that it would be 100% completely impossible to get me stop using the forums or whatever. This forum is like a second home to me almost and I'm close to a lot of people here and had made a lot of friends. (I'm hoping I'd make more friends too. I get overly-excited whenever new people add me as a friend! :pinkie: )

Despite my flaws and problems, both the show (and my other fandoms) as well as these forums help me manage that and my problems that I may experience or suffer from and all my friends here help me get out of it.

And I'll forever be thankful for it.

Also, I can honestly not care about what happened with Tommy Oliver. I used to be a fan of both his MLP and non-pony videos but the way he scapegoated the whole fandom just annoyed me to no end. And despite how much I wish to become a anyalist, Tommy leaving didn't really affect me in any way whatsoever.

His decision, but using stereotypes to back up his reasons and scapegoating both the ENTIRE fandom as a whole and all the other anyalist without using common sense and really knowing the whole fandom and all is just... :facehoof:

Bro is a gender-neutral term.

For some people, yes. But some female fans prefer to be called Pegasister or prefer not to be called Bronies. It depends on the person and their preferences. I'm a girl/female but I'm completely okay with both fan names. But not all people will consider bro gender neutral and maybe it's her preference. But I kinda agree that bro should be gender-neutral.

I don't know, the whole concept of "leaving the fandom" implies that we're some big unified club. Are we now?

Well, if you want to leave the fandom, you can just... stop participating. That's really all it takes. Stop watching the show, stop interacting with the brony crowd, stop consuming and producing pony content... It's not like you have to write a resignation letter or anything. For a content creator, all it really takes is letting your followers know that you're moving on to do other things just so that they're not kept in the dark. It's just courtesy. There really is no reason for there to be any melodrama in doing this. None.

But you know, seeing a spin-off thread pop up, I cannot help but think of how successful his martyrdom is showing itself to be. I think he'd be proud of himself watching us get upset over this because it affirms his prejudices about us being spoiled brats.

Who said it upset me? The point of this thread is that his leaving made me even more steadfast in my love of this community, in this forum in particular. it seems you didnt read my post....or even the title.

I did. It's this line that gets me concerned:

The thread about Tommy Oliver leaving got me thinking...

I've taken this as a reflection of what the larger amounts of bronies are thinking and thus not necessarily you. It's something that's either been said out loud by some and heavily implied by others.

It's good that you're not upset and it's good that you've become stronger in your conviction. You could say that it was more of a message to the larger audience.

I am aware of how people wish to be addressed. Your insight is polite and kind. However, it's ridiculous if someone wants to be addressed differently. If you are a friend; you are a bro. They probably either have identity problems or are probably narcissistic. Maybe they just don't understand the concept of being a bro. I'm all about putting one and one together. Not separating each other. We need more love and less hate.

The problem was the bronies of the youtube comment section finally eating away his last nerve, and the show itself breaking his long standing headcanon. The forums have moderators, which helps keep the toxic hateful types out, but youtube has no such luxury.

I love the forums as well, and I've met some really cool people on here, some I call friend and chat with outside of the forums quite regularly.

I completely agree wholeheartedly.

I've met a female fan who said brony is "too musluer or manly" for her and although I said it was okay and all, I agree it's quite ridiculous and it's unnessuary to separate ourselves over terms. I'm sure there are a few more female fans out there who say the same thing. But she understood what I meant by bro perfectly somehow.

Maybe they don't get that bro and brony can be used the same way I suppose.

If, I don't know, PewDiePie can address his female fans as Bros for example, then same can be said for both male and female Bronies.

I like to keep a clear insight and I seem to know a great deal of everyone around me. I guess it's because of my interest in social psychology or how aware I am of things despite being anti-social (or asocial depending on your own meaning of anti-social.)

Ah alright then. It's fine, I was thinking you told MLG (he's a friend of mine) that because you were thinking he'd mistake you for a male and not a girl.

Looks like I'm right.

I'm here with you! I'm incredibly new but have enjoyed chatting with a lot of people! I honestly look forward to laughing and discussing with people all over the globe, and I can't wait to meet some of you at BronyCon

I don't think I could ever "hate" this show, I never really hate things, but yeah, I hope once MLP is long gone I still have friends I made here.

I thought about this question years ago, and came to a conclusion that I feel is the most logical.

FiM, at this juncture, is a good show. Even if this changes, and it becomes a mediocre show, I will still watch it because it makes me feel pleasant, and because every other show on my Netflix queue is a dark serial drama.

Bronies, at this juncture, are a good fandom. If this changes, I will not make a dramatic exit, but instead quietly slink away from the parts that I feel are in poor condition, while still enjoying the parts worth enjoying.

There doesn't have to be an "in" or "out." Just enjoy what you want to enjoy, and let the arbitrary labels go rot in hell.

While it's nice that you feel like you're surrounded by all these great people in this forum community, to say that you'll never quit the fandom- bear in mind that these forums are but a miniscule part of the Brony fandom. And even within these forums you love so much are toxic, spewers of undkindness and closeminded opinion. Take, for example in the Tommy Oliver ragequit thread here- are people venomously calling Tommy an A-hole and other such things, for what he said and just having his own opinion.

Don't be fooled by how sweet and innocent some parts of the Brony community appears to be. Just saying. It's not all sunshine and rainbows here, either. People, like MLP episodes, have flaws and ugly sides to them, and will show them. Brony or not.

Just so you know our fandom has many toxic members and a lot of stuff is out there which gives us a bad name but this forum in particular is an awesome and friendly place. You find real bronies here.

I've been in this fandom for 4 years now and i've been on EQD, Derpibooru, Deviantart and even on a german brony site. But they all pale compared to this place. Maybe it's because this place isn't as big as those other sites, but it's certainly better then everything else i have seen. I will stay with this fandom as long as i can, atleast as long as the show is alive.

Sure, I might offend a few of the bluenoses with my cocky stride and musky odors - oh, I'll never be the darling of the so-called "City Fathers" who cluck their tongues, stroke their beards, and talk about "What's to be done with this Hypnosparkle?"

Like i always say, i rather want to be hated for what i am, then being loved for what i am not.
