OC Re-Styles and Doodles

I can try my best ^^

What would you like to know?

I'm interested in how you've developed the anatomy/art style. I'm a fan of styles that are both realistic yet cartoony.

I'm also interested how you develop your colour palettes. I'm teaching myself colour theory lately, so it would be nice to see what you do.

Well honestly when it comes to anatomy I like the know realistic first which isn't unusual. I also never could never really nail down

the show style so I developed one that fit my personal tastes after a couple years. I like my characters lanky and have a Disney

influence to my style just from reference how they concept characters and a childhood of doodling cartoon characters. Coming

up with a style just really comes down to drawing and re-drawing, tweaking what you don't like and keeping what you do.

Usually for palettes I start with a color I know I want and match it to ones that compliment. Many times my characters end up with

a very matchy - matchy color palette though I am trying to be more creative with it cx Personality of the character also plays a part

for me, especially with ponies. Like Forge is has a calm fur tone but his hair is bright and strong in color, while his mother Birdy has

a soft and warm all over feel for colors. However, when I get stuck or want to get out of my usual favorites I love with sites like

COLOURLovers: Color Trends and Design Seeds, both listed tons of color palettes some based on pictures or you can just search

specific words or phrases. Paletton is also awesome if you are ever in doubt and want to test colors on a wheel. But just like designing

a style I will often switch up the color scheme a number of times before I get something that I really like. I actually had a bit of trouble

with Corsair, I knew what I wanted her cutie mark to be but I normally don't work with blues and reds together as a large part of the color scheme.

I was happy with her hair being vibrate but no body color seemed to be right. In the end a friend suggested a palette that was more grey-toned,

the reds still bright enough but her body color wasn't trying to compete with it anymore. I think with color schemes having a color that stands

out isn't bad but you always have to be balanced about it.

I think that is really most of what I think about when it comes to art XD I know everyone says it but really you just have to keep drawing and

testing out new things. I have never known an artist who wasn't inspired by a new way to color things or tweaked their style to fit whatever

new subject matter they had become focused on. A lot of times when you figure out how to do something in a way you really like be it line work,

color design, anatomy, shading ect. you will just stumble onto it. Then when you try and duplicate it you will probably end up making it better

until it is refined to your style and not just a style you are testing.

Also gave my profile pony an update since I haven't drawn her in awhile cx
Thank you guys for the king words, and yeah I know I tend to give them canine bodies lol
I think it has something to do with the way I draw their stomach line, or that the bend in their

back doesn't dip down quiet like it should.

Aw, thank you so much >w<  I'm glad I have settled into a style that I is constant from

one character to the other. I'm sure it will shift in time but for now I am happy with my recent art lol

So I gave my fall pony a name and a twin brother ♥
The lads were born on the last day of fall and the first of winter.
Boreal has a talent for guiding the winter northern winds/northern lights.
Bo's CM is also a work in progress, and the shape probably will change.
