Fiendship is Magic Changeling Continuity

So in Fiendship is Magic series issue #5, it was later shown that Chrysalis had no significant backstory to cause her become evil like the other villains, which is by far the best kind of villains in my opinion (joker for instance).

 

But, there's something wrong. In A Canterlot Wedding Part 2, Chrysalis was seen singing This Day Aria and in the lyrics there are the words "...since I was small." Which in return gives us the knowledge that Changelings do grow like any other animals in the show. This however does not happen in the comic, as Chrysalis was already of that size within the tree... So, what's really happening here? Is it a mistake or what?

The comics and the show have already been established to be separate entities, so things in the comics might not line up perfectly with the show. In the show universe, maybe Chrysalis did grow up and eventually become the queen of the changelings, rather than just spawning full grown like she did in the comics.

Yeah issue #5 of Fiendship is a love/hate thing for me. My favorite villain gets her own story finally, since DHX ignores her. The comic started out strong, and the changeling origin ruined the story. I loved Chrysalis's drone posing as her decoy and emerging from the wet caccoon only to pounce at Twilight. The heart for the issue was in the right place, but the origin ruined it.

I think the comic fits with the show well enough; it probably just depends on how one interprets her 'small' phrase from the song. I'd say it could be referring to her time before emerging from the tree.

 

Hard to say, but being one who still connects the show with the comics I like to try to keep them as such.
