gaming Skyrim: Best way to kill a Frost Troll?

In the game of Skyrim, there are many challenging foes.

But so far I have yet to encounter a monster that is more of a pain in the ass to kill than the Frost Troll.

The one I encountered going up the Throat of the World was really tough, but I managed to pull through by throwing everything I had at the beast.

But in LABYRINTHIAN, there was like a seven of them!

I managed to kill two, but I eventually I ran out of Magika and Stamina.

So I was forced to use my Whirlwind Sprint to make a frikn' run for it.

I got out, but that had to be the most tedious area of the entire game so far.

It was a fucking frostbitten nightmare to say the least.

All I know about frost trolls are that they:

• Can regenerate

• They don't like fire

• Using a shout blast can stun them for a bit

• Arrows don't do jack to their health

• Close combat with them is insanely risky do to the fact they can kill you in around 4 hits

• Magic seems to work the best on them, but once you run out of Magika, you'll need to regenerate. And by the time your Magika regenerates, so does his fucking health.

So I would like to request some advice.

What is the best way to kill a Frost Troll?

Magic. Alcorn magic, of friendship, elemenrs of harmony... fire magic too. Gst desteuction up high hit it with a fireball and use mahika potion to regenerate instantly. They are not meant to be fought at low levels btw. Also, try lowering the combat intensity if you want to. In the start menu settings.

Enchant some Fire into your Weapon if you can. Then get/grind for some good Magic upgrades/points and possibly even get some high-tier fire spells. (And more Magicka)

One you get around Orcish/Ebony-tier equipment they become walks in the park. As for standard Mage robes you might have to strategize a bit, such as running in circles around it and doing some hitting and running.

Usually you'd be able to fight them without worry at around Levels 20-30 or so. But I don't know for sure, because I haven't played Skyrim in a while. :P

I have a Necromancer Robe and I have an Orcish Sword along with an Orcish Mace, and I can dual weild both.

So how do you enchant a weapon? (sorry, I'm still sort of a noob at this game)

Get a decent bow with a fire enchantment and mix at least a dozen poisons with the Slow effect.

Keep your distance, and pick them off one at time with the fire bow.

Should they charge you, quickly use the Slow poison on your bow to keep them sluggish and unable to pursue.

If you're quick and careful, it'll be a cakewalk.

If worst comes to worse, you can always just turn the difficulty down to Novice.

You use enchanting tables. Though, if you want to enchant Fire you'll have to disenchant a weapon you already have that has a Fire Enchantment on it already. You'll also need those Soul Stone things, in which they must be filled to use as ingredients.

If you can't find a Table, there's one in Dragonsreach.

I guess I'll have to find a Fire weapon then.

The only reason I wish to go back to Labyrinthian is to get sweet revenge on the last 5 Frost Trolls.

Gotta finish what I started.

And I don't care if I have to kill one at a time.

Thanks for the advice, friend.

No problem. Even though I have around 300 hours put into that game, I should probably get back to it sometime myself.

It is odd that seven would spawn in one place.

I'm pretty sure Labyrinthian only had three or four on my last playthrough.

Are you running any mods that affect enemy spawn rate?

Going Werewolf works as well. Knock them down, attack them with your claws then knock them back down again.. repeat this until they die. Kinda cheap but it's the easiest way to beat Frost Trolls at low levels or if you don't have the equipment/potions to beat them..

This is especially effective if you have the Gorging and Savage Feeding perks.

Quicksave, shoot arrows at it while hidden, attack it until my health is low, drink health potions, continue attacking it until it's finally dead, then jump off High Hrothgar for the hell of it before realizing I forgot to quicksave.

I like to unrelenting force them off of mountains. For those times that's not really an option, that depends on the character I'm playing. A little brute force and that fire breath shouts seems to work for my Nord character while my heroic stealth archer keeps to a distance and uses sneak crits.

Here is a special tactic to beat just about ANY mob in Skyrim on PC, simply use this incredibly sequence of abilities:

`tgm

(Enter key)

BOOM, walk past the mob, they cant kill you, re-enter the keystrokes when you're ready to stop being a god.

Your friendly neighborhood alcoholic motorcyclist

Life is too short to worry what others think of you, be creative, be weird, live life.

Do it the manly way. A two handed axe with a fire enchant. THEN CHOP HIS REPRODUCTIVE ORGANS OFF AND DRINK THE BLOOD!

I remember also shouting them off a cliff, but that is not always too easy.
