ManaMinori 4,149 July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 Is there anything more anyone might want to see done with the tree? It's history and significance, before Sunbutt and Pollbreaker's time, maybe? Or whether it had a hand.....er...root. ..in creating anything other than the elements of harmony, and Twilight's castle? Do you have any headcanons rgarding the TOH? I want to see more connection between the tree and earth ponies, who don't seem like they get explored enough, either. Apple Jack's family has a history with the zap apples in the Everfree forest, maybe AJ (or Pinkie) could dig up some old family lore that reveals some ancient earth pony nymphs (similar to Meliae) that might've been born fron the tree of harmony, to nurse/ nourish it, and all the earth, and were once in contact with the Apple or Pie anscestors? (Maybe an environmental awareness episode?) And while it's unlikely, maybe we could learn, too, that eatth pony magic originated from these nymph pony children/ earth caretakers of the Tree of Harmony, and that the entire race of earth ponies shares a closer bond with the Tree, than other ponies, even Alicorns do.... 1 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
PoisonClaw 8,174 July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 Anything would be a good start considering we know next to nothing about the tree besides the fact that it created the Elements, is apparently sentient in some limited regard and has Celestia, Luna and Twilight's Cutie Marks on it long before any of them were even born. I would like to know where it came from. I'm not expecting some over-complicated backstory, just something to describe where this plant of pure crystallized magic started. I'd even settle for something as simple as "A seed fell from the heavens and grew into the tree." MLPFanatic34 3,241 July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 I would like to know where it came from too, I mean we know it's where the Elements came from, but as for the tree itself, that's a mystery.
Sidral Mundet 1,666 July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 I don't really think the Tree's been explained all to well. Personally I think of it like Raava from the Legend of Korra, like the physical plains' representation of light and order. I also hold out hope a version of her opposite, Vaatu, exists as well in Equestria and that a villain in S6 or the future is it's avatar much in the same way the Mane 6 are for the Tree. 1 Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end. Concerned Bystander 2,905 July 28, 2015 Share July 28, 2015 It is mentioned in the book "The Journal of the Two Sisters". Celestia and Luna felt drawn to it whilst scouting for a location to build their castle upon first becoming the Princesses of Equestria, and it's proximity was a large part of why they chose to build their castle where they did. It was already known as the Tree of Harmony at that time, and was a thing of legend, but there was no mention of it's origin.

Goat-kun 2,531 July 30, 2015 Share July 30, 2015 I could go with the Monolith theory and say that (insert random entity) planted it there because friendship and harmony and stuff. I could go with the Gaia theory and state that all things have a place in the ecosystem. If this is indeed true, then there’s only one known kind of creature that would be able to eat fruit and spread seeds from such a tree without breaking its teeth and cutting its intestines. This theory states that dragons and crystal trees are connected and that the Tree of Harmony is not a unique entity, but an ancient yet common lifeform modified to serve a unique purpose by (insert random entity). Then I could also go with the good old fan favorite: the H-Bro theory which states that all things have been created to sell toys to little girls and thus have no further purpose or relevant history. And remember kids: each pony sold separately. Ask a parent first.
Unlikeable Pony 2,700 July 31, 2015 Share July 31, 2015 I think more information about the tree would neccessitate more information about the everfree forest myself. It seems like the Tree of harmony is there as a Healing/preventive measure against the Everfree forest growing out of control, which implies some sort of negative source for the forest. GuyNamedEarl 1,332 August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 I always thought that when the Equestrian Earth was created, the tree was always there, and was the "life force" so to speak of the planet. chirox the pony 1,336 August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 You know season 4 was full of things that were only created for plot convenience, and I'll give you the same answer I do for all of them, there is a magic is the show called plot convenience, it is a magical force that makes things a lot easier to follow. No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

Its amazing the number of things created for plot convenience that I think are more interesting than the plots themselves XD Like the alicorn amulet was a really nice idea, and they even referenced it in the journal of the two sisters; but for all intents and purposes it was probably inteded as a one off deus ex machina for trixie to be a threat.
Malinter 3,064 August 12, 2015 Share August 12, 2015 (edited) The Tree of Harmony is basically the MLP version of Yggdrasil the World Tree from Viking Mythology. Given how its power is what controls the everfree forest and that the Elements of Harmony are the mere fruit of this tree, it could very well be the source all magic in Equestria.
