The first controller to ever vibrate was the N64 controller. Dying, taking damage, exploding, crashing, and more caused the controller to vibrate, giving the game a supposedly more realistic feel. Some people love the rumble, some hate it. Do you like the rumble? Vote in the poll or tell me your preference and why. My opinion on the rumble? It depends on the game for me. I turned off the rumble feature on Super Monkey Ball 2, but I somehow got dizzy.

When used properly, I love the rumble feature. It can add a surprising amount of depth to otherwise stand aspects of a game. Take for example on the Xbox One with Dead Rising 3, when you shoot a gun, the triggers themselves vibrate and I felt like that gave the guns a sort of 'punch' that they otherwise would not have had. Made the guns much more fun to use than in Dead Rising 2. Another good example of this is Forza 5 also on the One and again because of the vibrating triggers. It helps to indicate when you are braking and by how much and how much your car is swerving.

So I have almost always liked the vibration feature. When the PS3 originally did not have it, I really never understood why, other than cutting costs.

I only realised how much I actually rely on it the other week. Was playing Halo and my xbone's batteries were low and it shut off the rumble (I'm assuming to save battery power?). I found that I didn't react as quickly to being shot as I did when the controller alerted me to it.

It's funny that when gaming on steam (with keyboard and mouse) I easily use the visual/sonic cues to work out when I'm being attacked, but when I'm playing something on the xbox where I'm used to the rumble, my game goes down when I lose it  :dash:

It took me a bit to get used do...but now I love it, especially in racing games when you're racing on dirt, the controller's always vibrating to simulate the feel of driving on dirt.
