gaming Halo 5: Guardians, is anyone planning on getting it?

The story is getting criticized heavily for a lot of reasons. The maps in Halo 5's story are apparently more constrained, and it's not very open world either. It's more or less about as linear as you'd expect from Halo. Not really anything ground breaking.

They still trying to be more Modern Military Shooter than CoD? Damn. I really hope the new Doom brings the classic Arcade Shooter back.

And you're right that microtransactions in games you already bought is really discouraging the challenge.

Because reviewers are bought out at this point. If a game is mediocre, they will give it decent ratings so they don't lose review support from the publishers. Critics are bought and sold these days, and even independent ones are being bought and sold. Like if I recall a recent survey on Youtube showed that 20% of partners have been made offers to give positive reviews of products or games. I remember a few people getting in trouble because they were asked to review a product and they didn't give it a positive review and they got a legal team on their ass. What's even more is people will try and take down negative reviews as well with any way they know such as bullshit copyright claims.

DoritosGate.

And if we talk about the effect of game reviews:

And there's also the "good grades but poor sales" situation.

Honestly, CoD has evolved. The maps in CoD have grown, they have added that parkour element, and the scoring system of CoD has been redone. Halo is sort of just becoming... More Halo. I can't be mad that it's not an Arcade shooter because neither of those games were originally made as one.

It basically boils down to: Halo is Halo, so therefore people will buy Halo simply for being Halo. You also get fans afraid to admit that the game is bad because they are afraid that means that 343 will stop making Halo.

Well actually, you'll find that Halo fans are the loudest and most toxic around. Half of them practically think 343i are a bunch of degenerates and complain about every last thing they do. Then the other half are either sensible critics of certain things or actually enjoy the games. Believe me, I am yet to meet a fan that's afraid to admit a Halo game is bad.

60FPS they just felt was "so important" even though the game suffered in many instances for it, and it was kind of pointless at this point because Xbox Gamers had just accepted that the Xbox One wasn't going to get 1080p, 60FPS games.

Actually the 60fps wasn't the biggest reason for things like the loss of splitscreen. While they have said it was in the past, it's actually due to the engine they've been stuck with using. Despite spending 2 years rebuilding the entire engine, a lot of the assets within it are still from Halo 3-4 so, through a lot of magical tech stuff I don't understand, apparently split-screen would cause game breaking crashes and bugs making it unplayable in that state. Pretty sure there's a Nak3d Eli video on the matter.

More constrained? Actually it's easily one of the less constrained Halo games out there. Despite people's criticism's with the story, people have praised the level design because it has tons of massive battlefield areas as well as hidden paths and jumps which lead you to secrets and easter eggs. Halo 4 may have had the best story of a Halo game, but it's level design really sucked. In Halo 5 they made sure to change that.

Did they change? I thought it was the same game over again.

I know, but getting more arcade shooters IP's would be good. Back when you could use more than 2 weapons, non-linear maps and big ass bosses.

The Doom presentation from Bethesda is still one of my favorite moments of E3. And the game also gets local multiplayer .

The director of 343i told during an interview that he wanted to make a Halo game that doesn't focus too much on shooting. Maybe some kind of investigative or stealth game, but I don't know how fans would react. On the other side, Halo has a universe big enough for more potential games, if they put work in it.

Trust me, if you criticize Halo, you are met with a ton of negative commentary. I remember making a video on Halo 5's lack of Split screen and was instantly met with fanboys.

There were numerous reasons, but let's be real here: The real reason it was taken out was money. It costed money to develop and it would hurt sales. Why allow 2 people to play on the same copy when you can force them to buy another Xbox One and another copy of the game. Since 343 works for Microsoft, it's pretty easy to see that the logic here is to force everyone to buy their own copy. Microsoft is very against sharing games as we've seen, so it's not far fetched to believe that they would do something this dumb.

I kind of felt the levels were more of the same.

Perhaps a trip to Halo Waypoint may change your view on the community. On there you get met with fanboys after posting something positive ^_^

really? well to each their own I guess. I'd say we haven't had levels this fun or interesting since Halo CE. Since then, all the Halo games have just deteriorated in level design quality up until now.

It's a shame that this game has a disappointing campaign along with some missing features from the past Halo games. The multiplayer is great from what i hear but that's not what i'm into. I was about to buy an Xbox One for this but will wait a little longer. I liked Halo 1-3 but i didn't like Reach and Halo 4 though. Oh well i'm going to be waiting for the next big game Uncharted 4: A Thief's End in March.

So apparently Halo 5 only managed to sell fewer Xbox consoles than any other Halo game in history. This could be a sign of people just giving up on the Xbox One regardless of Halo, or people getting tired of Halo in general.

I think it's both of those reasons really. The majority of people have chosen to buy the PS4 over Xbox One/Wii U and there are many PS4 owners who owned an Xbox 360 or a Wii previously. Also there are plenty of people that don't have the time/money to buy and play multiple consoles so will stick with PS4.

It's still the best selling xbox exclusive on Xbox One so far. And also there is the fact that Xbox One has sold HALF of what PS4 has sold and most people won't be buy a second console for just one game. Phil Spencer has already Xbox has effectively lost this generation so it's nice to see Halo 5 at least selling well at all on the system.

It still sold more than AC Syndicate and the MCC, so it's not doing awful.

Halo 5 in my opinion best fps I have ever played. Best game? Nope that honour will always go to Arkham knight for me. Halo 5 has some of the best combat I have ever played both online and in campaign in any FPS the story is far superior to it's prequels and spin offs the only story that comes close to me is ODST. Yes it has it's flaws some day one bugs and some annoyances in the execution of the campaign but nothing that really drags it down. I have been impressed with it through and through. Now has it sold well yes it has outsold a few titles incuding AC London (don't care that it is not the actual name)  and others did it sell more console exclusives no but thanks to Halo from one source I looked Xbox in October outsold PlayStation in console sales. So the way I see it the game works, is better than Halo MBWNBFC ( Majorly broken and will never be fixed collection.) and it has sold well so in my eyes success yes a few kinks to iron out but not as many as MCC or Halo 4 for that matter. To me Halo is back on top and fresher than it was 10 years ago.
