How is Equestria paradise?

 

Quite a few fans seem to think so.

 

Consider for a fact if Nightmare Moon had won in an alternate universe, it would mean the end of all life on the planet because there would be no sun and the whole planet would become a floating icy barren rock floating in space. Oh and random pony jerks and bullies... King Sombra, Discord, Tirek and possibly some other evil demon from one thousand years ago hiding under a rock somewhere.

 

Granted, this is a kid's show. So they can't show real life things like war and death and all that stuff.

 

But wait....

 

Commander Hurricane: Those other tribe leaders are so disrespectful! Don't they realize that we are a mighty tribe of warriors, and should not be crossed? We have got to break ranks with those weak foals!  

 

 

That sounds like a xenophobic superiority complex, don't you think?

 

Also this: Means they know what war is. And they have infact had wars.

I don't think Equestria is paradise. It seems to be a simpler world than ours, purely technologically speaking, but their research into magic must have spawned its fair share of mathematics and laws of physics so to call them simple would be wrong. There's clearly an elite and conflicts are plentiful, so all in all I really don't think their world differs much from ours apart from the fact that friendship can be weaponized.

This is a really good post I think. It makes sense because I too have done this before (I have hardcore anxiety and as a result depression), even with all of the craziness that Equestria has had, I still have had thoughts that living there would be so much better...In a way I think it could be a paradise. Yeah, it is not perfect by any means, but a place where Friendship is the most powerful force of all? Who wouldn't want that? The thought of it is a good escape, at least for a little bit.

Complete paradise is only achievable through Christ. Huh. That sounds preachy. Eh. Anyway, as Kyoshi said, it can appear a paradise to some. It really does look like a great world, but it still has faults. People just ignore that and call it a paradise. Now, if you'll follow me and just imagine that heaven is for real (hehe, I'm funny), then it can be argued that someone could be happy if they get to be in Equestria in heaven.

The Commander Hurricane quote is pretty irrelevant, considering you made a topic about Equestria and then pulled a quote from before Equestria was even founded. Tensions were high between the three tribes during that period, but one of the big reasons for Equestria being founded was to end the tensions between the three pony tribes, and allow them to live together in peace and harmony.

 

And of course they'd know what war means. That doesn't necessarily have to mean that they've had one in recent times. There are the changelings, but otherwise things would be pretty peaceful in that regard, I'd say.

 

Either way, it's not totally perfect, but their society is a highly benevolent one where things like friendship, love, and harmony are held in very high regards and are very important, among other nice things. Many of those things are also a physical force of magic, mind you. And then you have the alicorns, which are chosen for their ability to be capable, benevolent rulers.

No. I don't think many people claim that the setting is literally 100% perfect, but it's quite clearly a very nice place regardless. The environment outside of Equestria could be argued to be less than ideal in some places, considering they live in a world of magic and mythical creatures, but Equestria itself is quite benevolent and ultimately, well protected. And it's not as though there is never any conflict whatsoever, it's just that friendship, love, harmony, etc are so prevalent and highly valued there, among other things. I'm not the best at wording this stuff, and I could say more, but hopefully this gets the message across decently enough. I'm tired.

Its not that its a paradise that attracts people but rather that ponies find it easier to find their place in their world (because of how cutie marks work). Humans don't work that way and even if they do find their natural talent, it isn't always something you can make a living from like the ponies seem to be able to,

Equestria is a Psuedo-utopia, it has the face value of a utopia and holds the right values but ultimately, whilst probably on a lesser scale, has the same problems as our society, such as poverty, war, crime, illness and death. Let's not forget all the times Equestria has been threatened (and ruled) by powerful evil forces.

Equestria isn't any more of a paradise than any other cartoon world is. In fact, their society is flawed but they make it work the best they can. It's bascially a less dark version of our world. It shares many of the same problems but not in the same way, if that makes any sense.

I think people think this because the script is already written in a cartoon show that the good guys will win in the end and that living in a cartoon will always be a safe and fair place to be. And any hardships the ponies go through they will always get through it somewhat with hardly any losses.

 

Nobody would think being in a South Park or Venture Bros. universe would be awesome because South Park is pretty much real life and Venture Bros is way out of hand.
