According to the syponsis, seems like she is going to return at the final.

Episode 25: The Cutie Map: Part 1:

Starlight Glimmer, hoping to obtain revenge against the Mane 6, acquires a spell that could change the past, present and future of Equestria forever.

Episode 26: The Cutie Map: Part 2:

Princess Twilight and her friends continue to fight against Starlight's attempts to alter the past, but they fear that their efforts may be in vain.

Will Starlight Glimmer win? What will happen to the Mane 6's future? Will she got reformed/defeated like King Sombra?

So many headcanons stuck inside my head!

Reformation is never going happen to Starlight, never was the pony to give up on something. Her defeat has been shown that she has no hope of getting revenge, and Glimmer wouldn't resort to altering the future. She prefers manipulating those around her, and forcing her ways on them.

So you think there are no better ways to reform Starlight and she should be defeated due to her EXTREME attitude? Hmm, actually I think she has a backstory. I guess it's because she was a blank flank and got bullied. So she decided to create her own village where everyone is equal (My theory)

I'm not so sure of that, she doesn't look like the bullied type to me. But you may have a point there. My idea is that she doesn't feel friendship can't truly exist unless all are equal to each other. Starlight reminds me off this moment from MGRR:

If Glimmer's gonna be defeated, then we may see reformation. She will have to give up her ways. There is no way around it. Princess Twilight will do whatever it takes, besides, this will be a time where the mane 6 will have to show their true selves in order to conquer Starlight Glimmer.

Also take into account that she would never forgive the mane six for humiliating her on such a big scale.

Well this is similar to Tirek and Twilight's fighting scene in "Twilight's Kingdom" though.

But then if she's not reformed and presents an unforgiving spirit towards the mane 6, she may become a long-term villain...which I can't see that happening.

it's just my opinion, Thunder. It wouldn't be surprising if she turned out to be one of those. Plus you can't reform every pony in Equestria. It's just not possible.

The ending to Friendship Games pretty much hints at the outcome of the Season 5 finale, and also the character poster for Season 5 has Starlight standing next to Twilight. The Gameloft game hints at a reformation by stating that Starlight learns a valuable lesson in friendship as well.

Starlight is more than likely going to be reformed when all is said and done.

Wow you could be right CheekyBoy, just like Episode 12 in Season 1.

I never said Thunder was wrong, but as it is now, Glimmer looked as if she still holds that grudge, but it will take a lot to really change her views. Holding a grudge can really have an impact on you as a person, so a easy change won't occur without a good reason.

Personally for us, I would like to see that happen! Just like Xenmas in KHII!

I see 4 options what might happen with her.

Option 1, she get redeemed like a lot of the antagonists in MLP. I don't know if I would like this or not. I mean, she would be the perfect Anti-Twilight and a good enemy in more future episodes. But we have seen a lot of enemies who were redeemed because they see what the really true friendship is and how powerful friendship is.

Option 2, she runs away. That would mean, she might be return as an enemy in future episodes.

Option 3, she becomes arrested or banned. Here is the same like option 2, she might be return as an dangerous enemy.

Option 4, she dies. I don't think that this option becomes reality because it is a little bit to harsh for MLP. But on the other side, Sombra dies too. But I really don't  think that she dies.

I think option 1 is the most probable option. It would fits to this show. The villain see his/her mistake and change the side. I hope a little bit option 2 or 3 will happen, but I reckon it's option 1.

Oh, to the question in the poll. I don't think that Starlight wins in the finale. It will be a hard fight, but the mane 6 will win at the end (because of happy end and so).

I thinks it's incredibly safe to say she will ultimately be defeated. The way it's gone so far for major villains is that Ponies (Luna, Trixie and Sunset Shimmer) get reformed, non-ponies (Chrysails, Sombra and Tirek) don't. Discord is the only exception but that was due to popular demand of his character. Though it would be interesting to finally have a pony that refuses reform in the end. Starlight Glimmer might be one of them.

The way I see it is that Starlight wants to be far and away the best pony and be special. Her way of doing that was to make everypony else the same. She goes along with the charade of hiding her cutie mark to hide her difference as a form of brainwashing everyone to give up their talents. It had started as a cult community but I got the feeling she wanted to spread this cult across all of Equestria and eventually become Highest Incarnation of the Revolutionary Comradeship. Think of the end goal of her plan to be like North Korea. The illusion of an equal footed society with the harsh reality that Kim Jong-un is firmly at the top in a position of extreme privilege.

As Starlight's plan for domination was defeated, Starlight then attempt a new plan to change the events of time. One such thing might be removing Rainbow Dashes Sonic Rainboom that inspired everypony in the Mane 6 of their special talents. Twilight has to go back in time and repair the events changed by Starlight Glimmer with the help of the 5 ponies that should be her friends.

Long story short, Twilight "McFly" Sparkle and "Doc" Spike must once again go back to the 12th of November 1955 and destroy the Grays Sports Almanac to prevent Starlight "Biff" Glimmer from drastically changing the events of time to benefit her self interests.

A Back to the Future Part II themed Episode! Well it is 2015 after all!

If the ending to Friendship Games is anything, then Starlight will not win and everything will be normal at the end of the day (They may add on something new, but everyone will acknowledge it and say it's a reward for saving the day or something like that, not because the time line got messed up)

Starlight is probably going to be reformed (99% chance with a 1% margin of error) but will probably opt to start traveling Equestria or staying with the four ponies we saw in the premier, only to make an occasional secondary guest appearance, much like Discord does. Though I would love it if they locked her up in jail or Tartarus and never decided to use her again.

Starlight Glimmer will lose at the end. But first she will wipe the floor with Celestia. That's for sure.

That's going to be impossible, that staff was the only thing keeping her in power. But since she lost any chance of winning, she might as well be defeated; but not in the way people might think. It would be better if she were a continuous villain, besides discord, she seemed the most dangerous. Discord didn't take anything seriously, just toyed with their personalities.

She won't win, that is pretty much a given. The description of Part 2 most likely is just there to heighten tension.

First off, we have the revealed poster for season 5, which had key characters blacked out to prevent spoilers. The CMC's, a supposed carriage in front of Shining and Cadence and most importantly, a blacked out character with the mane 6, who we can pretty much assume is Starlight, whom Twilight was smiling at. That is a big giveaway. Secondly, if she did win, that would just screw up waaaaaaaaay too many things and that, would actually make me feel quite sour about the writers if that were the case.

So I am fairly convinced that she will not win and she will see the error of her ways. If that is somehow not the case, then consider me incredibly disappointed so seeing these proofs that she will not win is a comforting thought for me.
