Is there a way to remove a topic you started, or hide it so nobody can view it anymore? I can't find an option, button, etc. that'll allow me to do so.

You can't do such a thing, only those who are part of the MLPForums staff can do that. However, if you still want a way to have your topic removed, please send a PM to any of the staff letting them know which topic you want hidden. We'll then take it from there.

Anybody that is part of the Sectional, Global Moderator of Administrator groups. While Sectionals focus on specific parts of the forums, both Mods and Admins handle every section of MLPForums. Because of this, I'd advise you to send a PM to the Mods or Admins instead, but the Sectionals can help as well.

Can a topic be deleted by request regardless of the reasoning?

I would like quite a few of my old threads deleted because they didn't go anywhere.

 

As long as you have a plausible reason, then yes. We won't remove topics made by you if they either get plenty of replies or if your reason isn't enough, but you can always discuss why you want certain topics to be removed with the Mods and the Admins.

, if you report the post you want removed, it goes to a report system were multiple Moderators and Admins can review and is easier to follow and track than a Private Message and is the preferred method for this function. I will never remove a post 'cause reasons', especially if there are opinions presented in the form of replies. Once Google picks it up and indexes it ... it is a poor reflection on MLP Forums if said post or topic is not available when a searching party clicks on the link. That said, if you have personal information in the topic, or something that you may find embarrassing ... then yes we will likely hide it from public view. 

 

PM's are great, however you will get a much faster reaction time with reporting the post with your reason. Especially if a staff member you PM'ed is on a leave of absence or doesn't have access to moderate the area your post is in.
