DId the undersketch and fiddled with it enough to get to where I think the proportions are okay. How are they? Legs too big? Chest too round? 4 My Music Thread ~~~ My Youtube ~~~ My Soundcloud ~~~ Commission Something! ~~~ My Art

Lucky Shot 232 November 6, 2015 Share November 6, 2015 (edited) I agree with most earlier posts, but to clarify -- the ankles and forelegs are too thick, not the thighs. Ponies have big butts. The neck is about the right length for a princess, but the connection between it and the head seems off. It may just be that I'm very used to seeing Luna's precise facial shape on ponies of her build, including Cadance, or it may be the lack of shading on the head compared to the rest of the image. Just to clarify, not going for show-accurate shapes; the coloring later will identify which princess it is i'm going for eye-pleasing stylization more than anything right now Just to clarify, not going for show-accurate shapes; the coloring later will identify which princess it is i'm going for eye-pleasing stylization more than anything right now Also forgot to mention, this is a pre-wavyhair luna though since a lot of people seem to be particular about luna drawings, maybe ill just make her someone else My Music Thread ~~~ My Youtube ~~~ My Soundcloud ~~~ Commission Something! ~~~ My Art

DND 2,355 November 16, 2015 Share November 16, 2015 Maybe toning down the scratchy and thick sketching would make the overall shape of your drawing easier to spot. This is an issue I also suffer since I draw very fast and haphazardly; I am pretty much mostly in-tune to what my hand thinks is the right movement for that shape I just scribbled rather than me visualizing the final product accurately. In other words make it easier on yourself if you're in doubt and look over some pony refs: nothing's wrong with a few learning experiences with tracing. (As long as you don't credit the traced base as your own) It's LOADS easier to learn by practicing hand movements on a reference in front of you than trying to incorporate what you see on a paper or canvas. Trying to express or copy what you see comes later, especially when you feel confident enough doing so. Your drawing so far looks it has a style unique to your own and it looks true to the show's proportions as well. I wouldn't want to work on much else aside from the sketching method and perhaps the beefy legs. ! Hope I've helped

StrawberryKitty 382 November 20, 2015 Share November 20, 2015 (edited) I honestly think it looks fine. The legs a bit bigger makes the pony look stronger to me.
