Blueblood's parents?

Moved to Elsewhere

Recommended Posts

That since Blueblood is Celestia's nephew, that would make him Luna's kid. However, he looks nothing like Luna. Him being Celestia's nephew raises some questions.

Who is Blueblood's parent?

If it's Luna, why doesn't he look like Luna?

If it's not Luna, could there be some missing link in the royal family?

Two possible answers: Plot Hole, or a relative of Celestia we've yet to be introduced to.

Or maybe he was adopted in as a nephew. I have no clue

Explained by Word of Faust, actually.

If I'm understanding this right, it sounds like he's descended not from Luna, but from Celestia and Luna's maternal first cousin.

"removed", btw (since a lot of folks don't seem to know the meaning) basically means number of generations apart. So he's about 52 generations (roughly speaking) down the line from Celestia and Luna, making him their great-great-great-great-nephew with about 51 greats total, roughly speaking.

(The "he has no official name in the show" line at the end is because this comment was made before Best Night Ever aired, so you can ignore that.)

Cadance is Celestia's Niece but she was "adopted" by Celestia. So the same could be said about Blueblood.

Princes don not need royal blood to be princes. Shining Armour for example is a Prince though Marraige.

Also, Being a princess is not exclusive to Alicorns. Princess Platinium was a unicorn princess for example. Its possible other royal families still exist from the oldest bloodlines in Equestria, they are simply not regarded as sovereigns of the state like the sisters are.

Yeah, like Cadance, I think adoption is a possibility for Blueblood...which would  actually be quite interesting

Why does everyone ignore the word of Faust

Because Hasbro goes against her word and she is not in control of the show at all anymore. Hasbro can retcon anything she had in her (now) headcanon.

Yeah, but they haven't contradicted what she said about Blueblood, and I doubt they will at this point considering he barely even appears. Far as I'm concerned, Word of Faust is still good til it gets contradicted (which doesn't seem to be all that often). They even canonized her "bat ponies come from deep caves in the mountains" tweet in the new Princess Luna chapter book.

I take everything she says as non-canon until shown canon in the show. Until then it's just headcanon.

I feel like the show staff are making some effort to at least partly go along with her vision. I've actually worried that Flight to the Finish might be influenced by the "Faust meant Scootaloo to be disabled" claim that I've seen going around, even though poking into the matter makes me skeptical Faust ever actually said that. (MLP Wikia's "source" turned out to be a YouTube video from some brony claiming that he was part of Faust's security detail at a con and she gave him an exclusive interview that he wasn't allowed to record. On top of that I found an actual Faust quote where she outright told someone that Scoots could fly, she just hadn't figured it out yet.)

That was what was originally said.  Though the thing is that we've still haven't really found out if Princess Celestia and Luna have any real blood relatives to well this current season 5.  We don't actually know if Princess Celestia and Luna have any actual parents either (AFAIK), we don't know if they have any direct biologically related children or kin.  So how does P. Blueblood fit in?

I can only make guesses that he would be like P. Cadance, that P. Blueblood's lineage was adopted into Celestia's and Luna's family lineage. From where perhaps? Well I only have a guess that P. Blueblood's lineage actually comes from the original Union tribe monarchy (think back to when they had Hearth's warming eve episode) - From King Bullion (and his daughter Princess Platinum's) lineage.  And that original Unicorn monarch lineage, somehow managed to get their kin adopted into Celestia and Luna's "adopted" family ruling lineage, somewhere down the line. That's just me making guesses with this. As it currently stands, we don't even know if Prince Blueblood is biologically related or not.  I'm not even sure if they're going to bother answering that question though at this point. Would be nice to know though.

I am willing to bet that since Blueblood isn't that important of a character, the writers didn't think of all of that at the time.

They supposedly did think of this ahead of time, reading over what @@Daring_Do, had mentioned previously.  Its just that supposedly executive meddling got in the way of this. Faust originally not wanting to imply there was an actual blood related connection between C + L and BB, but apparently someone in the approval process wanted it changed from 'Duke' to 'Prince'.  So there was original intent (on the part of Faust) to actually avoid this from the get-go, but apparently that decision was overruled. And so we're left with Prince BB. Granted, I don't really care for him, I only care about knowing what the actual royal family treeline looks like at this stage.

If I had to guess, Faust originally didn't want Celly and Luna to have any actual related family in the original pitch bible, but I'm guessing Hasbro wanted that to eventually change later down the line as the series progressed.

Actually, Faust has talked about them having parents (I think at least twice, actually). This is one of the times.

Note Faust did also say when asked that she didn't see them as being gods, just very magical (or something, I didn't bother to go dig up the exact quote). So a natural birth with family and relatives actually makes sense... But still raises the question of how Celestia's managed to live 1000 years (assuming Faust hasn't said anything about that too).

Oh that's interesting. (Duly noted now, cheers for the update). So she did want Celly and Luna to have actual parents and to have a more recognizable family structure. Shame they didn't go that route, would've made things a lot more clearer and understandable.

Would've been way more interesting to know the parents of Celly and Luna. And if they had passed away, what caused that? Or were they still ruling.  They still have the possibility of fleshing out the royal family (they left us with questions, but could provide some answers), but they haven't yet atm is all. Though i think they should've gone with how Faust framed it originally.

I never viewed Celly and Luna as 'deity-like' beings. Nice to know she didn't think of them as such either.

So Lauren actually had ideas about the alicorns' history, or at least she would've like to tell stories about them. I definitely would like to see that, though I'd probably have to live in an alternate reality.

I think Blueblood was adopted by Princess Celestia because their is NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO way a narcissistic asshole like him is in ANY WAY related to her, Luna, Cadence or anyone in the alicorn bloodline. NO FUCKING WAY!

So... You're suggesting instead that Celestia *raised* him to be like that? ;)

No, I'm suggesting that being at that level of power corrupted his mind and made him the narcissistic asshole he is today and that Celestia tried to stop him from going down this dark path, but he was already too far gone. Haven't you ever heard the saying "Power Corrupts"? :twi:

My headcanon is that he's of the bloodline of the Unicorn rulers that were in charge of that tribe before the founding of Equestria and they've keep the title in the family more as an element of prestige moreso than having it have any real weight. Also I never remember it being explicitly stated in the show that Blueblood had any relation to Celestia or Luna

Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.
