As the red pony was no longer focused solely on her work, she began realising some things. First of all that she hadn't slept in 2 days, so she should probably do some of that. And the second was that there was something else in the room with them. As soon as she had rather abruptly and unintentionally rudely said "shut up" to Sapphire, her ears twitched and she looked around. She looked straight at the invisible pony nearby, smirked and drew her head back to Sapphire "Sorry about that, I thought I heard something. My name is Scarlett. I'd say I'm pleased to meet you but then with my recent rudeness you are probably not pleased to meet me."

 

The invisible pony froze abruptly as the red mare told her companion to shut up. They knew they were still invisible, so the flinching halt was more out of habit.

 

A sweat broke out beneath their helmet as the mare looked straight at her and smirked.

All senior staff, NCO's and Ranking Officers to the Stargate room ASAP, additional all staff code yellow is in effect until further notice that is all." she released the button and walked back to Scarlett, "that was ok yes? never done ought like that before." She then moved over a bit to the side of the room pulled out a note pad and pencil and stated to write.

'People in this time really aren't straight forward. According to that announcement, something interesting is about to go down. I can't wait. This is so exciting.'

 

Manoeuvring himself around the area to get a few different angles, Specter was not paying attention and accidentally bumped into, something. Or it felt like someone's face. (@Unicorncob) He jolted back from the invisible person some distance, and then remained still. 'Maybe if I don't move, they won't see me. I hope that they can't see me in activity camouflage.

She then moved over a bit to the side of the room pulled out a note pad and pencil and stated to write.

 

The intercom above Amber and Flame crackled a bit as it came to life and the announcement rang out overhead, interrupting their conversation. Amber smiled with glee as she heard the words transmitted through it. She trotted back to her work station nearby. There was very little on it apart from a few files and almost no objects that pointed towards her history and any family. She grabbed one of the files and slid it into one of the open drawers next to her, before straightening her combat outfit, her hoof carefully tracing the shape of a small and thin tube, the needle pricking her hoof in response ever so slightly.

 

"Well as fun as this conversation is, we have a place to be." She grinned smugly and broke into a light trot, following the yellow markers down the corridor. "So I suggest you straighten up and follow on." She yelled back as she disappeared around a corner.

Scarlett secretly smirked to herself, sensing the small amount of the energy known as paranoia nearby. Ignoring the current non-thread for now she went up to the briefing room above the gateroom control centre, and began setting up the projector and her presentation on it.

 

The pony curled their upper lip in frustration, unable to shake the feeling that the mare was onto them. Once she had left for another room, she decided to risk weaving past the incoming personnel and get a seat for whatever was causing the commotion.

Scarlett turned to the pony and smiled "Don't worry, that was great. Now all we need to do is wait for the ponies to get here so I can give a presentation. A few of the crew going on the expedition were just selected from the public scientific community so may need a little bit of explaining about the mission and what it is we're going to be doing."

With enough distance between him and the invisible, person, maybe. He repositioned himself in the upper corner of the room facing the presentation that is being displayed, redirection most power to memorising information, specter hovered stationary in the air, looking and waiting.

Scarlett sat back in a chair next to the computer. Seeing the guard walk in she said "Feel free to sit down and relax for a couple of minutes, I doubt anyone will rush to get here"

 

Barely a few seconds later, the sound of hooves rapidly approaching began to grow louder and louder.

 

Soon enough, in came an exhausted Amber, panting and heaving something fierce. "Sorry...I'm...late..." She wheezed. Amber opened her eyes and blinked again. The room was barren except for three startled ponies looking back at her. She blinked again. "Oh. Well." She cleared her throat and politely trotted over to a nearby seat and sat down, giving an embarrassed salute. "I didn't realise it hadn't started yet..." She mumbled as she lay back in her seat with her heart still racing. A crimson blush had begun to appear on her cheeks.

After becoming sure that whatever hit them was gone, the pegasus looked around for a vantage point, so they could view this display undisturbed.

 

With rows of seats being filled, they'd have to sit somewhere where they could both be less at risk of being discovered, and make a quick escape should things get bad.

The filled couple of seats at the back would do nicely.

 

They hovered silently to the back and landed behind some personnel, light as a feather, sitting and awaiting the presentation.

"Clearly I'm not great with first impressions." Flame began to fly at leisurely pace, not attempting to hurry himself, He doubted the announcement was anything urgent only simple routine. Just as the stallion hovered around the corner Flamestreak heard the sounds of hooves knocking violently against the floor and abruptly stopping, Concern sneaked up on him The Pegasus quicken his momentum. After hearing more hoof-steps he was at full acceleration. As he got to the door Flamestreak wasn't able to stop himself as he barely avoided crashing into any pony. He flew uncontrollably until The Stallion went head first into one of the surrounding walls falling limp onto the concrete. A few minutes passed when flame jolted up his head throbbing immensely, "Is everyone ok?"

Scarlett heard something speeding towards the room and looked up just in time to see a stallion pegasus hit the wall just outside the room. She went back to typing on her laptop and sarcastically said "I had no idea I was that important," before returning to a normal voice and saying "Could someone get that stallion some ice? I think he'll need it"

 

A couple of minutes later when the stallion regained consciousness she stood up and said "Are you here for the presentation?"

Scarlett, still smiling, said to Amber "That's all right, but I would prefer it if you didn't call me ma'am. I'm not one for formalities." She then spoke to the rest of the room and said "And to the rest of you, don't give those looks. If it wasn't for people like her none of you would he here"

 

She turned the projector on and as it warmed up she said "Now, if there are no further questions I plan to get this started. From now on until the end of this presentation, you are all free to speak freely and relax, as long as you pay attention to what I'm saying." She tried to contain a small laugh and almost succeeded.

He turned around to see the culprit, it had been the mare from before. Flame shot her a glare and flew back to his chair turning to Scarlett, who had started to start the presentation. "Judging by the reactions of a certain mare." He said, pointing at the aforementioned Pegasus. "... This seems to be quite the trip do you know when we will head out?"

Loading up the first slide onto the screen she briefly said "If you consider going through a gate with almost no idea of where we're going, the yes. The sheer amount of power we think we're going to need to dial this address just shows how far this address might send us. So yes, this will be quite the trip. And we will head out hopefully soon."

The invisible pegasus listened silently to the presentation, ears perked up with interest. They couldn't make out the major scientific details, but the basic idea was there - just as they expected, this gate was some kind of portal to another realm of some kind.

 

They looked over to the mare who spoke out with excitement, showing her obvious interest.

 

A smirk appeared across their muzzle. Now that sounded like a fun trip. But how to get involved...

 

Hoof quietly met forehead.

Stowing away in the cargo, of course.

 

They'd have to wait for the presentation to finish and everypony to move. The doors opening on their own would no doubt attract attention.

Amber shifted in her seat a little, feeling rather uncomfortable. All she'd done was rest her hoof on the seat next to her trying to get comfy, except for the fact it didn't reach the seat, instead hitting some non-existent object or thing in mid-air. She quickly retracted the hoof, gasping, but preferred not to let it dwell on her mind. She was already soaking in every thing the presentation and Scarlett had to offer.

 

"Will we all be making the trip?" She asked, inquisitively. "Or is it just the science teams?"

"We're going to be sending a probe through first. It will check the area for vital things such as oxygen levels and nearby water and other resources. The only thing that can go wrong instantly if we make a connection, is if there is a black hole on the other side."

"I'm not entirely sure who will be going, as I'm not in charge of personnel. But I can state for a fact that there will be science teams, people from the civilian sector as well as military personnel"

Sapphire had cast a rather good transcript spell she had been given, the pencil was powering though the pages of the note pad, describing everything going on from speech and actions to descriptions of the ponies in the room. Something drew her attention the spell started to describe another pony present @@Unicorncob, hold on everyone is here? she recast the spell and again the pencil continued with it's work. ok?! Her attention was drawn to the room where no pony stood at least that she could see, then the pencil started on another @@Child Of Darkness, description now Sapphire was visibly alert and had a hoof on her sword, she was deciding of whether to act or keep quiet for now but she was ready to go, there where two invisible intruders in here.
