Sapphire just stood there with a dumb look on her face half the talk was in tec she did not speak tec, then a sun was mentioned, guess I may very well die today anyway. "Out of the suicide and into the death, yay." Sapphire was just curios how we'ed all be saved from this disaster.

She smirked and bumped her rump against Amber's. "Maybe I should get all sweaty more often then~"   She blinked, and nodded. "I think she's dedly srs."

 

"And as much as I would love for you to get more sweaty more often~" Amber's eyelids flittered as she whispered in Solar's ear. "And as much as I would love to be able to enjoy sweaty Solar...you know, I'd rather we didn't die today, so perhaps it's more important that we focus on that first." She winked.

"Yeah, you're right," Solar agreed, smiling and rubbing her nose against Amber's, "we'll save our butts from the star of death first, then get to the sweating~" She ended in a whisper.

 

Should I tell her that she really smells amazing? ...nah, not the time. I'll do that later.

She cocked her head towards Scarlett briefly. "So, uh, what exactly is it that we need to do? If anything?"

Cyril finally had Mir organize all the boxes of generator parts into one pile. "So, Mir. Will these generators be enough to recharge the ship's battery?" he quizzed her, hoping for some mathematical input. What returned was completely unexpected. "Cyril, these generators are not compatible with the ship's input, core, or power source. To make it easier to understand, I will summari-" 

"MIRVI! Are you telling me that we searched and piled this up for nothing?"

The droid processed the statement before turning ever so slight and irritatingly towards Cyril.

 

"Yes, that's exactly what i'm telling you."

 

Cyril didn't even react, he just started walking towards where the rest of the group was stationed.

Upon arrival, the general atmosphere was... well, confusing to Cyril. "Everypony, what's going o-" he was cut off by the sensor readings, curious as to what they had found. Mir quickly scanned the data and stopped Cyril before he could get lost in the technology. 

"Sir, the ship is on a direct course towards a luminosity level III star. I recommend figuring a solution for evading this obstacle."  

"Oh. A blue giant... Well, that's a problem. Have any of you figured a way out of this yet?" he inquired, directing himself towards the others in the room.

Lightning listened to all this. He was a fast talker usually, but he had finally met his match. He couldn't say a word for a while.

"Sapphire, we don't know whether or not we're gonna die yet. And I personally believe that this won't be the end of us, okay?" He turned to the other ponies. "I'd like to clarify the fact that, though it may seem like a collision course, it might not be so. As Amber said, the Destiny could possibly slingshot around the star, which could be our salvation. Cyril, anything new on that generator?"

Flame watched as cyril walked about the room, mumbling something about not asking question. As Cyril and some other ponies left the room Flame took a large breath of air and turned his head to Crystal.

 

"Well that was pretty stressful, I hope everything won't be as confrontational next time."

She looked at Sapphire and nodded. "Yeah, what she said. We're all gonna be okay, right?"

"So basically what you're telling me is that we are all going to die, just after we had to save our lives once. R u srs."

 

She blinked, and nodded. "I think she's dedly srs."

 

"I am very serious about this" she said while checking the data again "I don't know how we'll survive this."

 

She cocked her head towards Scarlett briefly. "So, uh, what exactly is it that we need to do? If anything?"

 

"I don't quite know yet. Though to  be honest, I'm not sure we can do anything."

 

"Oh. A blue giant... Well, that's a problem. Have any of you figured a way out of this yet?" he inquired, directing himself towards the others in the room.

 

"I literally only just said it was a Blue Giant. Give us a minute or two."

"Actually Lightning, I think you're right. Our course takes us very close to the star, close enough to burn up though. We will most likely make it through, but it will get very hot in here and most likely very bumpy."

"At the moment? Probably make sure everything is secure for when we get close to the star."

What Scarlett needs us to do is to make sure everything is safely put away or strapped down by the time we get close to it. Make sense now?"

After Lightning had finished interrupting her she said "Yea that's pretty much it. We're not flying towards the star because we want to," because that would be stupid, "we're flying toward a star because we have a power problem."

 

Getting back to serious, she looked at Scarlett. "Okay, the engines are bucked. How do we go about fixing them?"

"Gimme a break, mom," she sighed, brushing the floor with her hoof, "I wasn't exactly trained in all this stuff, y'know."

 

"Okay, so we need power," she tried again, a bit reluctantly this time, "So, uh, what can we use to power them...?"

Solar's ears lowered, sensing the sheer exasperation in Scarlett's voice when she answered.

"Gimme a break, mom," she sighed, brushing the floor with her hoof, "I wasn't exactly trained in all this stuff, y'know."

 

"Okay, so we need power," she tried again, a bit reluctantly this time, "So, uh, what can we use to power them...?"

 

As soon as Solar had said her first part Scarlett ears flattened against her head and the flinched a little bit. She needed to tone down her, outward appearance.

 

Then she asked another question. In the calmest voice she could, she said "As far as I know, nothing. I mean, if we could get to the battery to charge it, that would be one thing. But I don't we have much compatible with technology this old."

Unless we can magic up a solution to the problem despite us having what seems no means to fix it." Sapphire was expecting to be told to shut up for that but she was simply speaking her mind.

"Sapphire, I honestly can't blame you for feeling that way, seeming how you've been through so much. But we need to have hope that we'll survive. We got through the air situation, didn't we? So why can't we get though this? As I mentioned earlier, the Destiny will, more likely than not, slingshot around the star, rather than going headlong into it. For now, let's focus on making sure everything is in place for when the time comes."

Solar just sighed, and took out the small cube that was her deactivated suit. She just held it in her hoof, staring at it, as if waiting for it to magically produce an answer to all their problems.

 

Doubt you're gonna be any use this time, old buddy, she thought, grimacing at the cube, Everypony else here is either a genius or a soldier. I'm just a stowaway with a fancy outfit.

"I don't think there's anything you can do to help with this. I can't do anything to help with this. Nobody can do anything to help with this because we don't know how to fix a problem when the solution is random generation of energy, which at this point is not possible."

 

Leaning against the wall, she continued; "Sneaking around is a very useful skill. But, you have a point. No need to sneak around when there's nobody hostile here." She paused for a moment "Well, not too hostile."

 

"Anyway, that suit is currently the only thing on board that can EVA. I could modify my suit, but that would take some time. That's useful if we ever need to get something done outside the ship, or on a poisonous planet."

"Hey, hey, come here." Amber couldn't bear to see Solar retreat in to the same bubble she had before. That feeling of utter uselessness. It consumes and destroys like nothing else in a situation like this. She wrapped her wing around Solar and brought her in close for a tight squeezy hug. The pegasus softly kissed her forehead. "Now, just because you've been trying to get me out of the dumps all the time recently, doesn't mean you're allowed to get all sad on me again. Just because you don't have any fancy training yet, doesn't mean you can't be taught. And we have no idea what may happen on this journey. There could come a time that, without your stealth abilities, we could all die. You've just gotta relax a bit."

 

Solar just let Amber squeeze her in a tight hug, though she couldn't help but think of how comfortable it was. Her tough body meant she was quite a hugger, though her coat was surprisingly soft and warm.

 

She couldn't stop herself from smiling at the kiss and nuzzling into her marefriend.

"Yeah, you're right," she sighed, though sounding much happier, "I just want to be some use to you guys, y'know?"
