ManaMinori 4,145 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 The many things you see in your daily life, or elsewhere, other people being effected by floods, fires, volcanic evacuations, tornadoes/ hurricanes, Rapes, shootings, terrorism, hate crimes, Food/ water shortages, etc make anyone sad? Does it make you empathize enough to cry, when seeing all of these horrible things gets to be too much? Or have you become desensitized to it all? Should we be, if we are desensitized? Have you ever wondered if life was MEANT to be this way? That Guy with the CMB 5,873 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 I suppose I'm wilfully desensitized. I've been ignoring stuff, because the happenings in my own life are tear-fuel enough - imaginary health problems, praying all the time, wondering if I'm actually worth anything, all that good stuff. Jaxsie (Inactive) 1,343 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 (edited) Yes, I've empathized to the point of tears, when something resonates with me on a deep level. With everything that goes on in the world, I would probably be crying all the time. But life gives so many things to be happy about as well, and I can't always focus on the negative. It's about balance. If I focus too much on the negative, it wouldn't be healthy; and if I focus too much on the positive, I would be putting my head in the sand. The world was not supposed to be filled evil, but it is an unfortunate reality that we all must face. However, I have the faith to see the light at the end of the tunnel and I know that it will get better eventually. gyashaa 252 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 Yes I have been sad before. And yes I have also become desensitized to it. When you can't do anything to change the world, better to laugh at it, right? RIGHT???
Invincible 2,091 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 This is human nature, it's purest, ugliest of forms. Maybe one day we can become something greater, but right we have to deal with what we are. Does it make me sad? Maybe, but I'll get over it in order to carry on. Humphrey 49 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 I used to feel sad about many things happening around, but now I have already adapt. A race has to experience horrible things and learn from it in order to survive. At least there are some people who is able to learn what to do and what not to do from the bloody events. Humans are not gods, they are a group of (primitive) creatures growing up. There's so no need to cry, we still have the hope.
EverEverOn 346 December 10, 2015 Share December 10, 2015 The fact that it makes me sad is actually the reason I'm starting to ignore it. None of these things are currently affecting the way I live my life. Yeah, I feel horrible for the people that are going through these terrible things, but I've decided not to make other people's problems my own unless they affect me in any way. I do believe that the world could become a better place, but for now we just have to accept the world we live in and go on with our own lives instead of worrying about something that has nothing to do with us. If it's not affecting you in any way, just ignore it and carry on.
~Chaos~ 3,967 December 11, 2015 Share December 11, 2015 I for sure feel sympathy for people that have to deal with so much negative things. Such as living in a war zone or being a victim of terrorism. I'm really thankful that I have a good life and don't have to worry about most of those things. Carl Poppa 464 December 11, 2015 Share December 11, 2015 Some goings on make me angry. I try not to hear what's happening. It stresses me out, and with a very childlike mind and lots of other stress already, I just can't handle it. There's nothing iI can do about it anyway. (This is generally more about things people do than natural disasters. Those suck, but I could handle hearing about them. )
Anneal 2,197 December 11, 2015 Share December 11, 2015 You also have to consider on how as humans we always like to focus on the negative. With each person that commits an act of violence, there are several more that promote peace. Compared to the last few hundred years, we haven't been doing half bad. Fluttershyfan94 5,742 December 11, 2015 Share December 11, 2015 I'm desensitized, prefer looking on the bright side of life. We can endlessly focus on the negative but it won't do us much good. Though there are certainly bad things there are also good things. Half empty or half full cup, I suppose. Lisa 5,553 December 12, 2015 Share December 12, 2015 (edited) No, because I don't think about them. Ignorance is bliss. Even when I do think about such things, I don't become sad, probably because I've become desensitised or become some other austere term. smk.png 181 April 3, 2018 Share April 3, 2018 My surroundings make me sad. All of right-thinking humanity is on my side. Sandwiches are meant to be cut in half. You would never, unless under extreme duress or madness cut a hot dog in half. Picture yourself at a ball park, or even at a restaurant, cutting a hot dog and you will feel an instinctive, entire repulsion at the very thought of it. You can get a soup with a half sandwich, but you’d never serve a half hot dog with a soup. It’s the equivalent of cutting a pizza with a knife and fork. Pashman says anything “sandwiched is a sandwich.” He’s using the derivative verb to describe the sandwich, so he is proving the premise with itself; it is a complete logical fallacy. I hope they’ll openly boo him.
EpicEnergy 23,224 February 1, 2020 Share February 1, 2020 Sometimes they do, but I usually ignore them because they make me stressed out and the last thing I need in my life is more stress. *totally not up to any shenanigans*
