gaming $45 Microtransactions : WAY too far?

Destiny 2's Lightfall preorder + 4 seasons cost me around 100 USD. Now that's an expensive microtransaction, but sadly that's "normal" nowadays for many games. Just buying newly released games themselves cost like $80.

A linguistic point: I would suggest people to stop using the term "microtransaction" as the prefix "micro" clearly does not reflect the more appropriately macro scale of these transactions. "Microtransactions"... as if to say that such transactions are "micro" so why should one care about parting away a bit of money?

I’m not sure how it can be called a “micro” transaction when it costs almost as much as the actual game. I remember when about £9 would get you a whole new story campaign.
