general media Is this character type an anti villain?

I am in a really dark place in my life right now. I usually turn to fiction to find escape and satisfy myself. Been thinking a lot about the narcissism running rampant in our current society. Makes me wonder why people prefer the traditional hero. I remember the movie Hancock, I didn't like the movie, but love the concept. A demigod living among the mortals and not caring about them one bit. 

 

I guess what I am saying is, I see no fiction that disciplines humanity. Makes us fear how much of a danger to life that we really are. I don't like Superman and Batman because they don't kill and their reasons for it are just cutesy idealism that doesn't exist. Batman and Superman killed people in the 40s and 50s all the time without even thinking, and then came the comic code and we needed demigods that obeyed the central authority to brainwash children. 

 

I want to see a character that isn't a heartless monster. But kills because he/she puts his/her philosophies and code against everyone else's needs. If someone like Superman were real, he would go around melting heads off instead of undergoing trial processes and legal crap. 

 

Why don't we see it? The 80s and 90s were a dark time for multimedia and they still had the traditional hero concept.

Actually that character type would be called a  Pragmatic Hero
