What he saw was what seemed to be the rest of the group returning from... wherever they'd been.  He still wasn't completely certain where he'd been with them, but when an Alicorn invites you somewhere, it would be best not to turn her-...

 

Luster was leaving, and with someone else in tow.

Oh, great... what did they say to her NOW?

 

Twitch gave a quick look around at the others, then quietly turned and began walking after the departing Luster.  He wasn't even certain what had happened back there, but with the way things HAD been going, he actually wasn't surprised to see her storming off.

 

Crystal was on his mind... as was Lab Tech.  Come to think of it, VLAD was too; all of them had wanted interaction with him, had wanted a portion of his time, and were willing to deal with the fact he was a human in a rather kind manner... then WHY THE HELL was he chasing after an entity that not only didn't seem to want him around, but wanted to end his entire race?

 

Because... she doesn't have anyone else.

 

From the beginning, he had watched Luster go through a number of different mileposts that he, himself, had to pass not too long ago... though her situation was far worse than his own, he could draw enough conclusions to figure out that, despite the bluff and bravado, she's simply alone.  

 

She doesn't have any connections to ANYTHING here that she wants to have... sorta like me and Earth.  She wants to protect Equestria... but she doesn't see any outcome with humanity besides genocide.  And on top of that, nobody seems to side with her plan - granted, the plan is horrifying, but she should STILL have SOMEone in her corner...

 

It's what I wanted, all those years ago.

 

He did his best to catch up to Luster without making a racket.

 

"So, uhm... I taaaaaaaake it things went-nt-t south?  Are you... okay, so to to to to speak?"

 

He half-expected to get either ignored or yelled at... but he was willing to accept the consequences.

Luster sighed. "No Mr. Grant. Things are not. I've seen how it is. I'm just a science project. To everypony who made me. Everypony. Everything the dislike about me can be boiled down to flaws in my coding. They can't accept the fact that I'm not perfect. I have to be fixed and readjusted. I thought I had family. Thought I had a maternal figure, not another mad scientist trying to get hold of her Frankenstein There's a mistake I won't be making again. So I'm going off to do...f--k all, I don't know!"

She halted when Lektra obstructed her. "Out of my way, bitch."

Twilight Sparkle just glared at Shadow.

"Mr. Shadow, the next time that scythe is placed under a pony's neck, it'd better be in self defense. If I ever hear you challenge for another fight again, I will have you dishonorably discharged and sent back to magic kindergarten so fast it'll make Rainbow Dash jealous. Understood?"

She didn't wait for a response as she shoved past Shadow and made her way to Luster.

Shadow grew angry and said as he tried to coax Twilight into a fight,

"Guess Celestia is old in the mind when she thought you were able to rule Equestria and bring peace. You can't fight at all. Let me guess, your brother got all the courage when you didn't."

He dropped his scythe and hidden the knife under his leg, then he waited to see if Twilight would take the bait.

Twilight paused. Without looking, she said "Mr. Shadow. You have new standing orders from your commander and chief. Keep your mouth shut."  She then resumed her pursuit, making her way towards the congregation of Luster, Lekktra and Twitch over by the exits.

He looked back and forth between Luster and Lektra; two powerhouses that could probably send Twitch to the scrap heap.  But, regardless of whatever danger there might be, he wasn't about to simply stand there and watch this happen.

 

"Uhm, Professor Bolt?  It seems to me like-ike-ke-e you're trying to reason with somepony who is REALLY honked off off off off right now - maybe a walk and some tiiiiiiiiiiime to think would actually be better?  I mean, I can look at the two of you alone and tell there's so much anger  a n d  f r u s t r a t i o n  built up in you both... please.  You may see a problem to fix - but all I see is someone who w-w-w-w-w-w-wants some space from you right now.  Is that so difficult to giiiiiiiiive?"

Weapon systems clicked to life all over Professor Bolt; Grant had a pretty good feeling about what was coming next.

 

"NO."

 

Twitch stepped in between the two, again putting himself in harm's way.

 

"If you're going to be be be be a BULLY..."

 

Twitch's side panels popped open, and twin speakers began to form on either side of the junkbot's frame; they were complete and solid within seconds.

 

"... then I'm going to staaaaaaaaand up to you."

 

The data he had pulled earlier with his sensor packets now flashed into his HUD; with the resonance and vibration frequencies he had at his fingertips, he knew it would only take a bit of fine tuning to shake this whole lab to the ground... IF it came to such.

 

He was trying a BLUFF - if it worked, all the better.  If it didn't...

 

"Now... I DO NOT want to do this... but I don't take a v-v-v-v-v-very kind view of BULLIES, Professor Bolt - and I know a BULLY when I see one.  I've had ENOUGH of the EgoTrip Follies I've witnessed here; please, stand down and I will follow suit."

 

Grant was shaking like a leaf; nothing but smooth calm from Twitch.

Feeder walked up to Twilight and said,

"Um, Princess, could ya get a device from Luster. I know it is payment, but I want it to get more opinions on it once I leave here, in the future that is."

Stand down. I won't ask again. This is between me and my daughter.

 

"FORCING her to take something she doesn't waaaaaaant 'for her own good'?  Explain to me how that ISN'T the actions of a BULLY, Professor."

 

He doubled up his stance.

 

"And what kind of friend would I be if I didn't try to do... something... other than let  t h i s  s i m p l y  h a p p e n.  If you feel that I'M just a bug, then crush me..."

 

He locked his mismatched eyes with Lektra.

 

"... show your daughter how you handle anyone that spe-pe-pe-pe-peaks out against you."

 

Twitch was his ONLY shot at redemption from the pain of his current form; if she trashed him, he was finished.  But NO ONE had ever been there for him; he wasn't about to let it happen to someone else...

 

Even if they DIDN'T like him.

Twitch stepped right back into place.

There was now a low hum permeating the room; the others present could feel the floor quivering from the low bass vibrato of Twitch's enormous speakers.

 

"... and that is that."

 

What the HELL am I doing?

 

Small plates around the speaker itself began lining up, angling for the sound to come out at just the right frequency to rattle some bones... but not much more than that.  

 

Yet.

Twilight sent a message though her coms relay, not pausing to break her stride. "Congrats Shadow. You are now about to be put under arrest for insubordination, disobeying direct orders and misconduct. Good luck defending yourself in court. Guards are on their way. Now if you don't mind, I've got bigger things to deal with. And as for your device Mr. Feeder. You can have it back..."

 

She stood behind Luster. "When our misbehaving child is made to cooperate." She looked to Twitch. "I know you mean well, but whether or not Luster brought this on herself is irrelevant now. Lives are on the line. That's what's important." 

 

​"I...am not...your daughter. Convince yourself that you were motherly all you want, but looking back, since day one I was just a pet project to you. You don't care about me. You care about my potential. You care about your hard work getting scrapped. If I was really your daughter, I wouldn't need an 'update.' I wouldn't have bugs. You look at me and you don't see a pony. You don't see me. You see your efforts. You see metal, wires and code. You see something that isn't behaving the way you made it to. Go ahead and oppose my efforts. Do try and stop me. You have that right. But don't say it's becasue of a flaw in my programming." 

 

She finally looked at Twitch. "As chivalrous as that is, you're only going to end up a casualty. Leave the pissing contests to the professionals." With one hoof, she scooted twitch out of the way, metal hooves screeching on metal floor, beofre lookign back to Lektra. "But I'll deal with you later second fiddle." She turned her back to her creator, and faced the Princess. "I need to learn? No, Mary Sue. You are one in need of a friendship lesson." 

 

"Now, pretty sure it was this button." She pressed a button on the relic she confiscated from Feeder. 

 

"Ah!" Twilight reeled back. It all came flooding in for Luster. 

 

"Wow. I can't believe we made this."

"You are gonna be an amazing student!" 

​"It's just a phase. We'll get it ironed out eventually."

"What? Why is she doing this?" 

"You were supposed to be the bridge between our two worlds!" 

"I'm a horrible Princess..."

 

"No. No, I don't need any of that right now! It's here. It's has to be."

"What? Did...did you just-?" Twilight tried to studder out. She just saw her whole life flash before her eyes. And she knew Luster saw it all. Her prodigy hit the second button. A flash of blue between Twilight and Luster. Energy crackled between them, before pattering out. 

 

They both stood still. Then the lights in their eyes dimmed, and both of their heads began to hang as they powered down.

Emerald heard her ear piece and approached Shadow. "Now don't do anything stupid Shadow come quiet now." She stopped when Twilight called out "Twily!" She ran to the pair. "What's wrong with her!"

 

Crystal was like a deer in headlights this whole time not sure what to do.

Marcus ignored the others the pointless drama not being what he wanted to deal with at all. Looking back at the others then Emerald. "Besides I could use a reason to get out of here."

All he saw was that Luster apparently thought the exact same thing of him that Lektra did - move out of the way, little fella, while the grown-ups have a chat - and it hurt.  BADLY.

 

Twitch ducked out from Lektra's hoof, staring at her.

 

"No."

 

He backed off from her.

 

"You trash my main means of self-defense... then you want to know what ELSE I'm hiding?"

 

He backed up until he was nearly flank-to-flank with the unconscious Luster.

 

"No, Professor.  You leave me the HELL alone; go deal with the others - they're PONIES, after all; they matter."

 

He looked back and saw the AI's form... and Grant began crying.

 

Not a word got through... not one.  Even when I try, nothing.  It was a mistake to come here; Equestria's no better than Earth.  At least on Earth, it LOOKS like I belong.

 

Even though he knew what it would mean for him, Grant was already beginning to ponder how he could go about achieving his goals... without using the college.

 

It was all a lie... there IS no magic here.  And I'm just a stupid human; no magic for me.  EVER.

 

He began wondering if maybe even trying this crazy stunt in the first place was a mistake...

 

Twitch, in the meantime, found the furthest possible place from any of the Magitek he could see and took a seat on the floor.

*bbzzzt* Twilight's eye's flickered back on. She looked around herself. "Huh." She then began walking to the unconscious luster, who proceeded to open up and unfold her internal circuitry. Using her magic, various individual wires and silica chips were yanked out of her, before being set on a table. "Well that plan of hers backfired. She tried to deactivate me using the device, but the energy rebounded off my internal shields. It took all I had to endure it, hence why I depowered. But that trick she pulled ended up being reflected back at her." 

 

Tilight walked over to Emerald. "I'm going to be borrowing this for a bit Lieutenant." she teleported Silvia Cloudslicer to her.  "Also Mr. Feeder, i will be needing that device back for further analysis." That too was teleported to her. She then looked over to Shadow. "Mr. Shadow, you are now wanted by every guard bot in Equestria. And they don't take bribes. Only commands. From Me. Also, I've just edited your official registry. Your legal civilian name will now be recognized by everything with facial recognition as "That one guy acting like a d--k." Finally she turned to Twitch. "It had to be done. I'll leave her fate in the professors hooves. Certain she'll be able to manually reactivate her in with some effort. Maybe you can still talk some sense into her. Maybe you can still succeed where the professor and I failed. It is best, if I distance myself form this entirely."

Marcus nodded and put the magic nulifier and cuffs on his back right and front left hooves and his front right and back left hooves with just enough slack for him to walk then Marcus went to taking any thing that could be used as a weapon off of Shadow and tossing it away. "Sir you can kindly shove your money up your ass." Marcus waved at Emerald "I assume I'm not stowing him away by myself."

Feeder sighed that Twilight wasn't powered down forever, but he still wanted to know more about Twilight's new body

In a moment Marcus got out his rifle and fired into Shadow the bullets made to be immune to magic to the point of going through magic shields and too fast to track even for most high speed cameras.

(his front are claws, not hooves. and he was using his wings and I thought that Marcus only had them ready)

The bullets hit him in the side, He fell to the ground. He got up and said with a trickle of blood coming from him, 

"You stay out of this, No one gets in my way with business. Not even a pathetic Princess. Also trade in that weapon"

He opened his wings again and started flying toward Twilight, still aiming to get revenge. If he couldn't use his claws he could still use his teeth.

Marcus continued to fire this time at his wings, Marcus saw Shadow as an threat to stop lethally or otherwise, movement became automatic Marcus fired and made sure each shot would hit. He did not care how well Twilight could defend herself or the disagreements only that the threat was taken care of.

*clang* Shadows fangs made contact with the metal. And didn't get through. Be surprising if they didn't break. 

 

"Slipnirium alloy. Rarest and strongest metal in two worlds. Not even I could destroy it if I wanted too. Now, attempted murder of a Princess. Pretty sure that's a capital offense." Her horn began to glow. Rather, the opposite of glow. Blackness bubbled up. Purple smoke poured from her eyes. Twi fired a beam that if it hit, would cover Shadow in black crystal, a stone that neutralizes magic.

After Twilight dealt with the threat Marcus stopped firing and reloaded taking the spent magazine and putting it in a slot where a fabricator would refill it with the desired ammo using what ever material he could touch and give the command to in this case the casings on the ground. Now with a fresh mag in the rifle he put it away and stood back, but still keeping himself at the ready.

Shadow stood up on his hind legs to his full height and said, 

"How do ya mess with my business. Equestria doesn't need a weak Princess. Celestia and Luna were better than you will ever be."

Shadow jumped into the sky as the beam passed underneath him. 

 

Feeder stayed on the ground and said trying to not sound scared, 

"Could you all take it outside. You might bring the whole building down on top of us."
