Lithophila 291 January 23, 2016 Share January 23, 2016 (edited) Gonna make a thread about talking about Southern USA. And how cool it is ^w^.Although people making jokes about it should look at the competanse of some other so called leaders of reason, Sweden and Germany having some troubles with immigration, Angela Merkel being educated knewing it was expected of them to be more rapists... O_o. Yeaaaah....Its why atleast they stick with Christian cultures and values which i admire. They atleast can call a spade a spade more or less without a problem. Not that i call nothern USA bad. But just to people who just love to make cheap bad jokes in general, and then look at the so called leaders you have of so called progression : 3 Edited January 23, 2016 by Lithophila

Twisted Cyclone π 6,261 January 23, 2016 Share January 23, 2016 (edited) I love the South to be honest. People are always saying about racism and bigotry being really bad in the Southern States but I haven't really seen seen much if not none at all. I lived up in Indiana for five years and I honestly saw more racism up there more than anything. And before anyone says that I've only been to the city, I been to both Southern towns and cities like Charlotte, Atlanta, and New Orleans. I actually live in rural Polk County, Florida and grew up in rural towns so I'm quite familiar with the country life and everyone in the South is so friendly. I can't say that much for some of the Northern cities I've been to like Chicago or Baltimore. There's also the people in the North that would mock my accent but that's becides the point. Liberal Logic: You cannot criticize and be intollerant of people of other cultures of the 3rd world in terms of values, which have ethnic and religious conflicts all the time. But it is however ok to criticize and be intollerant towards white, Christian, southerners and all the typical stuff more or less :3 Β Like if one can nip one thing, then one should also nip the others in terms of a fair play plan when bad stuff happens in general. The problem is that it would be like saying that we shouldn't object to human sacrifice because Native Americans where invaded by Europeans. Like that's basically the logic more or less, the massive guilt argument XD

Envy 6,185 January 23, 2016 Share January 23, 2016 I don't really have much of anything positive to say. I have lived in Oklahoma all of my life, and have only ever liked it for being around my family and the music programs in the area. Maybe the cost of living, too... Β I don't have anything else positive to say, though. I can't stand the hyper-religious, conservative attitudes. Although I know that sadly I'm going to find misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, racism, anywhere... It's very pervasive. Although I will say religiously, the people I know generally aren't hyper-religious. Some are. Some of them are LGBT people... Strange way that works. =P But I can say that I'm not religious at work, and I won't be crucified. Β Of course, I can't stand the climate. OMG. It's just miserable. If you go further to the Southeast than I live it only gets more miserable. More hot, more humid, more tornadoes, more hurricanes. It's just a terrible, terrible place to live. I can not see how people stand it. Everything needs more woodwind!
Shanks 10,816 January 23, 2016 Share January 23, 2016 The south has a negative reputation for bigotry and racism and there is some truth to it, but it isn't something that is confined to the south in the US. The north had its share of racism as well, businesses posting "no Irish need apply" used to be commonplace, the overwhelming majority of the American people in all states supported the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II, many abolitionists opposed slavery yet didn't support full racial equality and some of them advocated a "back to Africa" movement to urge the freed slaves to go back "home". Where we are today is there are still racists and some of them are in the south, but ironically many of the most bigoted people are ones that proclaim "tolerance" the loudest. 2 Rarity Get's Cockroaches

I have not been there so I cannot confirm or deny if they have any really unhealthy ideologies/values/beliefs. Β It is also obvious that every city or state has it bigots but seriously if you look at any top tens for racists, heart disease, and heck even christianity you will see the south always tops it. For every bigotry moment the South had, the North had one too. In fact the three big police racial shootings in the past couple years have happened in the North. Ferguson, Baltimore and Chicago. The 1920 Duluth Lynching happened in a Northern city when whites hung three African Americans. Harlem and Detroit had race riots back in the 1940s. Yes the South does have its bigotry but the North isn't a clean bigot-free place either. Humans will always be intolerable and bigots as long as they exist. That is the big issue here regarding bigotry. Every place has its bad apples. You can't just bash one place for the bigotry without bashing every city and state or province on Earth. Lithophila 291 January 24, 2016 Author Share January 24, 2016 (edited) Β When you bring up immigration I would argue that not accepting refugees is the opposite of christian. There is a difference between helping and being simply naive. Having people of other religious and ethnic conflicts with a view that women are property, and that you can just treat people like dirt if they are considered "Naked" which would be not comforming to their religious ideals like wearing a tent on your body, which is the opposite of better values that we share compared to their primitive 7th century values, it is bound to go chaotic. Like Sweden is a pure good example of a friggin bad policy. when it comes to it. I mean if helping means by letting your country burn... then that's a very poor definition of it. But in either case 2016 will be interesting Edited January 24, 2016 by Lithophila
