A while back, I posted my first (and so far, only) fanfic, titled "The Crimson Rage".  A quick summary of the story is that a fly in the Everfree Forest spreads a disease to Ponyville that causes ponies to lose their minds and fly into an uncontrollable rage.  They ignore others infected with the Crimson Rage and chase down healthy ponies, able to deliver the disease with a single bite (it's actually transferred by contact with saliva against the skin, which is why it still works with blunt pony teeth).  In the story, a cure was made by Zecora, and although the attempt to deliver it almost fails, they just barely succeed in the final chapter.

 

For this roleplay, I'd like to do a story where the final chapter of the story never occurs, and the disease ends up spreading to other parts of Equestria.  The story will follow a group of ponies that band together for "survival" (though actually, no one "dies" due to the disease) in the early stages of the infection's spread.  Due to the nature of the story, it will be easy to add (and subtract) players over time.  The group may even discover the cure, although it is unlikely.

 

Keep in mind that this is NOT a violent setting.  When I wrote the story, I was inspired by a very, very old episode of The Smurfs called "The Purple Smurfs", which was a very early example of a zombie apocalypse but was accomplished in a way that kept it completely kid-friendly.  I wrote the story in a similar way, and as such I would prefer that this roleplay keep out excessive violence as well.  That means no blood, and no death (but In the context of the story, being infected would essentially remove you from the game).

 

If you'd like to join, I have several character rules/suggestions:

• Any of the basic pony races are allowed (Earth pony, unicorn, and pegasus), but I'd encourage to make at least a third of the characters Earth ponies, just because they'd be more helpless in the setting.
• NO alicorns, and NO overpowered characters; you can have an unusual background or skill if you want, so long as it doesn't serve as a way to make yourself an unusually strong spellcaster or anything.
• OCs only, no existing characters; if any existing characters show up in the story, they will be controlled by me (and, more likely than not, already be infected anyway).

I encourage you to read the story ahead of time if you want background info, but it's not necessary; the above info should be sufficient to get started.  Post here if interested, and once we have enough characters, I'll put together the IC and OOC threads.  Thanks!

This seems pretty interesting. I've got two OCs I could use, and there's a link to both in my signature. Redwood is an earth pony, and Janeri is a Zebra.

The one OC I have that doesn't have any powers whatsoever is Diva. She's in my profile pic, but her page isn't set up.

 

She's a Pegasus, with a personality of a drama queen mixed with pinkie pie. She is also incredibly loud.

 

Otherwise, Second Sight ( in my sig ) is my choice. He's an earth pony. Just don't activate any mods and he should be fine.

Crispy:  Probably start with Redwood.

 

Capt'n:  I like the sound of Diva; she sounds like she might be good for adding some friction to the group (at first, I mean).

 

Dapper:  Mist Twister appears to be a batpony, which isn't one of the three allowed choices in the game.  Do you have any other characters you'd like to play?

 

Summer:  Okay, just let me know when they're ready.  You can also have them come in later if you want.

 

Mentis:  Lot of choices, but out of all those, Sapphire and Scarlet seem like they would fit the best (a few of them appear to be vampire bat ponies or changelings, which aren't allowed).

Okay, we've got Redwood, Sapphire, and Diva.  I think that's actually enough to get started, and we can add in more ponies later.

 

We need to find a good starting place for the story.  Ponyville and the Everfree Forest are out, as is Canterlot and the Crystal Empire for now (they may be visited later).  Cloudsdale is out just because it's pegasi-only.  I'm leaning towards Manehattan as a starting place, though really any of the towns would work.  Appleloosa?  Fillydelphia?

It'll be abandoned eventually, but we're going to be starting out right at the beginning of the spread.  In fact, I'd like it to start out as a normal day, and then everything starts "happening", with nopony knowing what's going on at first.

 

(Also, just for reference sake, the original story is set midway through season 3, after the Crystal Empire's return but prior to both Discord's release and Twilight becoming a princess.)

 

I think I'm about ready to start the IC and OOC threads; I'll link them here once I post them.
