ACE Flier 5 March 5, 2016 Share March 5, 2016 (edited) I really don't have much to say about me particularity other than that I love video games, especially indie games. I'm also a movie and music lover. Partially heavy metal music, not much of a surprise right? I do however suffer from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and any day I feel down, these girls make me smile and realize that life is not so bad. They also give me hope in my life when hope is sparse. Now I got a favor to ask anyone who reads this. I know I'm new here, but I will be running a panel at Chicago's Whinny City and I need your help on this. The panel I'm running is about us fans sharing our stories of how we ended up here in this fandom today. So I would love for you to answer these three questions if you would be so kind. I plan on taking my favorite comments from this thread and reading them out loud during the panel. Don't worry I'll be sure keep you anon, just be prepared for that when you comment. 1. What in your journey of life led you to joining the fandom? Tell me your story of how you were first introduced to the show and how it affected your life from then to today. 2. What has kept you in this fandom all this time? More specifically, is there one (or more) particular thing(s) that have helped keep you here? Like do you enjoy making a type of content or do you enjoy experiencing community content? Or maybe it's predominantly the show? 3. What do you hope to see or experience in the future of the show and/or fandom? Are there any guests you would like see either at cons or in the series, something you plan to create, or maybe something you'd like to see someone else create? I want to thank all who came by this post and at least read it this far. You are helping me out immensely and I’m sincerely grateful. (Also I will post about the panel again else where on the forums to get the word out) Alright so for some reason it deleted the first intro section. My Favorite Mane 6 Pony All How I found MLP ForumsKnew they where here, never joined til now.How I became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic I was one of those who used to say, "Ewww Ponies are for girls". Until I befriended a brony who was and has been so amazing to me and then tried out 4 episodes and here I am 2 years later. Stardust Balance 7,739 March 5, 2016 Share March 5, 2016 (edited) I was introduced to the show via my brother and baby sister, who were both huge fans and I eventually succumbed to it out of curiosity; denying the fact I was a fan at first before slowly grasping the truth. How has it changed my life? For the better, I'd say; it made realize and value the precious few bonds I have, and that friendship was more than how is typically seen. I was more cold, more distant, so spiteful of the world around me, and in some ways, I still am. But the show - its "magic" has opened my heart more than it should've, and I am grateful for it. What has kept me around? Apart from the amazing stories, characters and powerful messages? Or my deniable attraction towards a cartoon pony? Or the fantastic friendly community, typically judged for the, ahem, lewd parts of the fandom? Perhaps it's all of them, perhaps it gives me a sense of love and belonging I have never experienced from a fandom before. The people - the fans - and the characters, are fantastic in every single way... With the exception of a few. *ExamplebeingSentry.* I hope the show shines forward more with its creativity, storytelling, characters and so on, and that it eventually ends with a fantastic memorable finale. Everything must end, and it will suck, but the memories are worth it: The destination is irrelevant; it's the journey that matters. I, thanks to the show, have been writing my own MLP fanfic for quite some time now, already over fifty chapters and reaching its season three version of the show. Originally starting out as a bedtime story for my sister, the show and the wonderful readers have encouraged to keep going, and take the tale of Stardust Balance to new heights. Overall, I hope the show evolves to new heights as well. And I have every confidence it will succeed, and it will be... That said: Welcome welcome welcome welcome welcome welcome welcome friend! I hope you have a fantastic time within our extraordinary community and befriend many of all our amazing members. Enjoy yourself and explore the many wonderful things we have to offer! AtomicStone 724 March 5, 2016 Share March 5, 2016 Welcome to the forums dude! In response to your question I was introduced to the show out of pure luck actually, I was browsing the internet and found an article on a phenomenon known as the brony fandom, being the curious sort of person I was, I looked deeper into this and at first found it to be completely ridiculous.. Adult males liking a little girls show seemed totally weird to me at the time but I wanted to keep an open mind... So eventually I decided to give the show a chance and immediately became hooked.. It all went from there really. The main thing that has kept me interested has been the community. Such kind and understanding people that I have met over my time being a brony has been amazing, I have met such interesting and talented people, especially when I became a member here at MLP forums.. and I can't imagine where I would be now if it weren't for this community. There are of course the dark sides to it, but I tend to pay no attention to it personally. I hope that the show can carry on with new ideas and there will be many more seasons to come. I know that eventually it will all end, but one thing I do know is that the fandom will never die with it.. And that's the main thing I reckon. Nice to meet you by the way and hope you enjoy your time here!
Catpone Cerberus 23,616 March 5, 2016 Share March 5, 2016 Hello and welcome to the forums. I hope you enjoy your time here and make new friends Feel free to pm if you need help with anything. To answer your question 1. What in your journey of life led you to joining the fandom? In short, ultimate boredom. I knew already that show was thing that existed and there was fandom around it. One day in last summer I was really bored and started watching random videos in youtube. Long story short I found myself watching document-like videos about Bronies and I thought Why so many people (including me) hated Bronies. As I learned more about Bronies I wanted to see why this show is so popular. After force feeding myself first season I started like the show after that(still aren't fan of first season) How has it changed my life? The show itself didn't change my life but it changed my way of thinking about different things. In other word, it made me more open-minded. 2. What has kept you in this fandom all this time? The community. I have met awesome internet-friends and I feel that I am actually part of something. Second, I enjoy Fan-made content, music being most important, Many of my favorite music is made by community. There is of course the "Dark side" but everything and everyone has their "dark side", we are all humans after all. 3. What do you hope to see or experience in the future of the show and/or fandom? I don't really have hopes for the future, what happens, happens and that's it. I just hope that fandom keeps going even after the show itself ends. 3 “Cats!” “Cats!” “Music!” “Cats!” “Cats!” “(^・ω・^ )ノ” Ask me something! https://mlpforums.com/topic/139270-ask-the-cerberus/#entry4129993Signature by @Stevonnie

ACE Flier 5 March 9, 2016 Author Share March 9, 2016 (edited) Thank you, duly noted. That's cool. Oh wow thanks, didn't even think about that Thank you all so much for your stories and comments! Also, I can’t believe I didn’t do this, but I should have been the first to answer. Here I go. 1. So I was like many other over masculine males, thought everything pony related was for girls only. Typical to think that way. So I soon felt a sense of uneasiness every time I saw anything brony-like on the internest, until I developed some animosity toward the whole thing. Very sad, I know. I could be a really ugly person back then. Then I met someone at a club I went to and they were so nice and helpful to me all the time. We became friends, I then realized that bronies are absolutely no different than me and got used to the whole idea. Then one day I bought a Rainbow Dash plush for said friend and it just sat on my desk until his birthday. One night, I was bored and she caught my eye. I just stared at her for a minute and I said, “It can’t be that bad”. On January 25, 2014 I watched the first 3 episodes and Castle-Mane-ia and I was hooked. I wanted more because there was a sense of unwavering optimism that I knew I was missing in my life. I felt the optimism, and I needed it. Now, no matter what life throws at me, those girls have never failed to make me feel happy. A little over 2 years later and here I am. 2. Next, what has kept me here? I don’t know if I should be ashamed to admit this, but I feel as though my love for the characters way more so than the community is what kept me here. I didn’t mention this, but before becoming a brony, I honestly felt like I was in a state of depression for like 3 years prior. There was a void inside me, but now these ponies have filled that. I swear they are my religion they make me so happy. So I stayed for the characters and now that I’ve been a convention and loved it so much, I can’t wait to go to another. 3. What I hope for. For one I would like to create some sort of video content in the future. Reviews, PMVs, I don’t know, something. Secondly, I would love to see Tara at a con and get a signature, but that probably won’t happen, unless for a miracle. For the show, I would really love an episode about Screw Loose and maybe helping her deal with her mental illness. Or maybe if that’s too much for people, maybe like something she did made her mentally unstable and the girls could find a way to help her. I just hate to see her as forever being the “insane pony”. That’s all from me, thank you so much for sharing your stories and I can’t wait to share them with others.
