Brony Shmed1 (Joey) From Pony Meets World Has Cancer

Shmed1 AKA Joey from Pony meets world recently posted a video in a hospital bed saying he is really sick and would update us what he has. Well he did and its not good. He has stated he has developed cancer and is going to be in a fight for his life at the young age group of 20s or under 40 for cancer to be very rare in young healthy people which is very scary for not only him but all of us in general.

 

When I saw Joey after seeing another Youtuber I follow get very ill, I could not help but get emotional, I even cried when I heard whats going on. I really hope he gets better and can beat it Joey is not the only one and what I mean is young people on YouTube and in general contracting very serious illnesses from no underlying condition or preventable lifestyle choice that caused such illness that are "considered" rare but seem to increase in frequency.

Scary thing is, cancers in young people are very aggressive, and if he beats it, the damage the chemo and radiation will do to him will cause other organ issues and take many years off his life in itself. Plus there is the risk that the cancer will come back even worse.

Things like cancer and incurable obtained neurological diseases are not fully curable and when cancer is cured the damage and suffering from what chemo and radiation does to the body takes a significant toll. I wish sometimes we were born about 20+ years into the future in which not only technology in general would be advanced, but medicine would be much better as cancer would be easy as going to the doctor or hospital to and getting gene modification, stem cells therapy, organ printing or taking a simple pill like an antibiotic today with no negative effects and it would be cured. Although we have a good chance of making it to the year when all of the technology will be available, the fact is that its not here yet and modern medicine quite frankly sucks for currently diseases that kill people or make their lives hell. I fear that more people and myself will get sick before we make it when the cure is available even when we take care of ourselves by not smoking, doing drugs, eating healthy, and exercising When I see more stuff like whats happening to Joey on a personal level and not in the news as the news really reports on things that are rare like plane crashes, and rare diseases, and not something like the flu or other common illnesses that many people succumb to, I get scared for those around me and myself as I feel hopeless as modern medicine cant easily cure this stuff yet.

Joey is the second Youtuber I follow who is relatively young, healthy that suddenly contracted a life threatening illness in the past six months. It has me not only concerned for Joey and other Young people with a life ahead of them getting seriously ill but I fear for my life as well. Yes I am young and healthy for now and I take care of myself through diet, supplementation, maintain a healthy weight, and exercising, but that's only reduces our risk of things like cancer. I understand we sometimes have no control over these things, but the problem for people like us is that even though modern medicine is great, it still has many faults. Many deadly diseases can be diagnosed, and in some cases treat but it does not come without a cost like a simple infection would that modern medicine can treat.

Personally i'm more afraid of a stroke and i'm not so confident either, if things look much better after 20 years, but i try to not think too much about it and so should you. Enjoy life. (-:

Strokes are scary for sure but they are much more preventable and predicable compared to things like cancer. At least with a stroke it usually happens to people with preexisting lifestyle conditions such as high blood pressure, overweight, smoking, or lack of exercise. The problem with cancer is that even if we avoid common triggers such as smoking, or being exposed to toxic stuff, cancer can still form in healthy people. Cancer is your own body making errors and unlike a virus, cancer cells are able to avoid even the immune system as it is coming from your own cells and since the body does not identify cancer as foreign, and allows it to grow and cause harm to your body. Chemo is poison along with radiation which grows cancer alone. If cancer is beaten chemo destroys the stomach, heart, liver, digestive system and other organs, and there is a chance after all that the cancer can come back. Seriously we need a much better way to cure cancer, and it needs to come soon.

The main problem here is unlike with viruses, cancer is recognized by the body as its own so it cant fight off the tumors cells. there is promising hope through trials of immunotherapy being more effective than chemo and radiation combined, without any major side effects. The problem is now its in its infancy, and the therapies only work with a certain types of cancers.

 

Its going to take at least 10-20 years for this therapy, and other breakthrough therapies in trials now to be commonplace and replace chemo curing most cancers. Many of us currently healthy can do our prevent cancer in general through diet, supplementation, exercise, as well as avoiding toxic substances along with the common things like not smoking or drinking. But the biggest fear is as seen with Joey, cancer can still strike at a young healthy age and I am very worried for myself and others, that we will get ill before the cure is commonplace. We are very young enough to see the bright future of medicine, but there is also a chance we may get ill before those therapies become available, which scares me nearly every day.

Damn... He is one of my favorite youtuber, the pony meets world serie are one of my favorites. I don't know him personaly, but from videos, i think he is a very good person.

Update, looks like he is going to be treated. He says the tumor was removed and it one of the most treatable cancers. I am happy he will be okay, I just hope it never comes back.

I hear ya man. I am sick in general of relatively young people getting life threatening illness these days with no preexisting causes such as smoking or having a very unhealthy lifestyle. Basically self inflicted illnesses that are preventable. But when I see people like Joey get ill for no reason not only has me concerned for him, but for many others including myself. I am very concerned with my health, so I get very paranoid and sometimes do drastic things regarding my diet, supplements, and exercise that I know of known to prevent life threatening illnesses that cannot be cured in the traditional sense. Yeah cancer is somewhat curable but chemo and radiation is rough on the body, can cause secondary life alternating disorders, and there is a risk of the cancer coming back stronger than before and being incurable.

 

Medical technology is great, but in many areas it sucks for illnesses like cancer and other life threatening disorders that cant be cured easily, but rather can be maintained or temporary. Sometimes I feel that people like us will get sick before a medical technology becomes available and succumb to illness or be permanently damaged from the treatment for the illness. They say within 10-20 or so years most diseases today will be cured through gene, stem, and  immune therapy and in some cases nano robots, but my fear is although that sounds amazing too many people will succumb to their illness before a proper cure in developed.
