Thoughts on lack of obvious spinoffs?

Like Daring Do Adventures, Power Ponies (with the actual characters, not mane 6), Cutie Mark Crusaders Clubhouse, and the unexpected spinoffs that we got instead, Eqestria Girl, and Guardians of Harmony

What more can you really do with FiM that warrants a spin-off? I mean, most of those examples you gave they offer plenty in the show, we get plenty of CMC episodes, they've made Daring Do books which I feel should suffice, and there's not much behind the Power Ponies to warrant a spin-off.

 

At the very least, I feel EQG and GoH are different enough that they have plenty to work with

Besides of the things Megas already said, these kinda things also cost time and money.

 

If they really do all these projects, together with the main show, they probably have to cut seasons short and maybe even go for cheap animation and cheap voice actors and that would kill the franchise in the long run.

Spinoffs means that having to put more resources aside from the main show, and that may potentially be cannibalization for the MLP franchise.

I think a spin off would be necessary IF FiM loses steam, but not right  now. Good thing it has much potential for them

On the one hand, it's a good thing they didn't go spinoff-happy with this show, as they'd spread the well of ideas and characters too thin.

 

On the other, there's still a huge bastion of untapped potential to explore in the world and characters that FiM is too limited in format to explore, as well as alternate interpretations of the existing world and characters. Equestria Girls was one of the latter, and if rumors prove correct, a hypothetical Guardians of Harmony series could be that as well.

 

I could see a spinoff working for this show after the movie comes out.

I dunnu between the various comics and equestria girls essentially being a spin off i think there are actually tons of spin offs just not in the traditional sense. They spin off from the show and have their own narrative and story they just keep the characters.

We already got the EQG film franchise, and the upcoming Guardians of Harmoy to count as for FIM spinoffs.

I don't really see why we need anymore to be honest.
