What are the quality of the chapter books in general?

Haven't read most of them myself, but I've heard as far as the mane 6 books go, they're worth a read save for Twilight's(Crystal Heart), which I haven't heard good things from. I've also heard the Daring Do books are great

I've Read Twilight's, Rarity's, and Pinkie's so far and they were all rather decent. Rarity's was probably my favorite of the three, Twi's was the weakest, as it seemed a bit too "Kiddy" even for MLP, but it wasn't awful. They remind me a lot of earlier Season 1 or 2 episodes personally, just something about their style reminds me of that time in the show, unlike the Comics which make me think of more recent seasons.

I'd suggest giving them a shot, they're rather cheap and enjoyable light reads if you're a fan of the show.

Twilight is best pony.

Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to?

each has the material of approximately a 22 min episodes and takes about that amount of time to read.

do you are basically getting new one-shots episode in word form.

their quality of story is similar to the show, but the presentation and vocabulary is aimed at a very young reader.  I was able to give these books to a 7-year-old that was really struggling with reading, and she worked really hard to get through them, and was able to succeed.

sometimes, this really low reading level can be a bit annoying to an accomplished reader.  it is VERY simple.

however, I can say that some of the plots are really good and it is thus easy to handle, and some of them are poor.  but even for the poor ones, you are done in less than half an hour, so whatever.

The reading is pretty simple, don't expect a Divine Comedy level of reading. Though, they feel like your normal 22 minutes of FiM episodes, so most of them are pretty entertaining, well, except for Twilight's

Yeah, I've read Twilight's, Pinkie's, and two of the Princess Collection books. I generally didn't like Twilight's but that was the first one, so I forgive it for that. Seeing as G.M. Berrow got to write an episode in season 5 (The One Where Pinkie Knows), she's really gotten the hang of writing ponies.

Like others have mentioned, the stories are very much like one-shot episodes, don't take long to read, and of course, are aimed at younger readers, but I found them enjoyable. I particularly enjoyed the princess books.

I'm curious about the Goodnight baby Furry Heart book, does anyone have it? I adore the illustration on the cover and I wonder if there are more pictures like that inside the book!

(It would be a shame if the publisher put so much effort into the cover art and then filled the rest of the book with the standard pony vectors... This happens with Disney books a lot. They re-use the same illustrations over and over in each book edition, but sometimes they just wrap them in new, original cover artworks. :okiedokieloki:  )

I think the first book was meh. That was the only one I read

I did too. It kind of turned me off of the other ones for a while, until I saw that Princess Celestia got her own book, and since she's my favorite, I had to read it, and since it was way better than Twilight Sparkle and the Crystal Heart Spell, I decided I'd put my dissatisfaction with that one behind me and give the other ones a shot, and so far, I haven't been disappointed.

  • 1 month later...

I just bought two of them for some young firends of mine. They're 12, but English is their second language (and they've studied it for three years in school). Do you think the language will be too difficult?
