Griffon names

Gilda, Gabby, Greta, Gustav le Grand, Guto, Grover, Grampa Gruff.

 

I wonder if ANY griff has a name starting with some other letter.

It's easier to come up with a name that doesn't start with the same letter, so it's doubtful that any new griffons that are introduced will be a different case unless a special reason is mentioned.

It's a way of giving the gryphons their own separate culture; even if it's sounds like a silly concept. Looks like they may be doing the same thing with zebras; considering Zecora's name.

I wonder if an hippogriff's (griffon/horse hybrid in mythology, but I suppose in FiM universe they can also cross) name will be a noun like a pony, but starts with "G"

Maybe they all have letters named with G just like how ponies have names that are a noun, verb or adjective. That's actually kind of interesting.

What if it's not just names? What if, in the Griffons' native language, all words start with a "G" sound? It is possible that they might speak a different language than ponies and Gilda, Gabby, Gustav and Greta have just learned to speak the Pony language so as to interact with their equine neighbors, as far as I know.

They may have previously had one, but now it seem to not be used. They could have learned it any pony language, but that still doesn't mean they have one. I would think they would at least go over it if it were true, and most griffon names are "normal" names to me.
