silvadel 1,393 September 12, 2016 Share September 12, 2016 Gilda, Gabby, Greta, Gustav le Grand, Guto, Grover, Grampa Gruff. I wonder if ANY griff has a name starting with some other letter. 1 Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight.
Number62 1,267 September 12, 2016 Share September 12, 2016 (edited) It's easier to come up with a name that doesn't start with the same letter, so it's doubtful that any new griffons that are introduced will be a different case unless a special reason is mentioned. Ashen Pathfinder 16,164 September 12, 2016 Share September 12, 2016 It's a way of giving the gryphons their own separate culture; even if it's sounds like a silly concept. Looks like they may be doing the same thing with zebras; considering Zecora's name. 1 Pathfinder I Sojourner I Corsair | Zu'hra I Autumn | Scarlet Willow | Gypsy | Silverthorn | Crystal Whisper | Radiant Historia | And many other OCs~ Matching signatures with mah Bestie MOONLIGHT <
shy0wl 484 September 12, 2016 Share September 12, 2016 Wow, I never actually noticed that all of the griffon names start with G until now... That's pretty cool, honestly.
Steve Piranha 29,496 September 12, 2016 Share September 12, 2016 I wonder if an hippogriff's (griffon/horse hybrid in mythology, but I suppose in FiM universe they can also cross) name will be a noun like a pony, but starts with "G" Sig by Discords
cmarston1 5,962 September 12, 2016 Share September 12, 2016 I assume that all Griffin names start with a G and that's part of their culture.
Foxy Socks 2,602 September 13, 2016 Share September 13, 2016 I think it is a creative and cute way to make them unique. I wonder if it was planned at first. My OC: https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/foxy-socks-r9861
cider float 2,539 September 13, 2016 Share September 13, 2016 Maybe they all have letters named with G just like how ponies have names that are a noun, verb or adjective. That's actually kind of interesting.
Attack of the Pwns 894 September 13, 2016 Share September 13, 2016 What if it's not just names? What if, in the Griffons' native language, all words start with a "G" sound? It is possible that they might speak a different language than ponies and Gilda, Gabby, Gustav and Greta have just learned to speak the Pony language so as to interact with their equine neighbors, as far as I know. 1 Signature by the ever-awesome Overdrive! They may have previously had one, but now it seem to not be used. They could have learned it any pony language, but that still doesn't mean they have one. I would think they would at least go over it if it were true, and most griffon names are "normal" names to me.
