cider float 2,538 September 30, 2016 Share September 30, 2016 I find it really hard to believe Celestia could practice all the elements of harmony to be able to use it to send Luna to the moon. Or maybe she does the writers just aren't going to go through all the trouble showing it.
Twilight Frost 271 September 30, 2016 Share September 30, 2016 Don't need to use the elements of harmony when they are in their outside form like that. Just a whole lot of magic and power.
Fhaolan 4,484 September 30, 2016 Share September 30, 2016 Honestly, I don't think she did. In my head that's why Nightmare Moon got exiled when Celestia did it, where the Mane 6 got a 'strip away all the evil' effect that was far more effective. The exile was because Celestia *couldn't* exercise the full power of the Elements.
BastementSparkle 20,328 September 30, 2016 Share September 30, 2016 I think she was able to represent all of them, but she banished her sister to the moon, instead of freeing her from the Nightmare's influence and bringing her back to reason, why? Well, no canon explanation, but I think that she couldn't harness their full power. She represented all the elements well enough to use them, but they weren't operating on their full potential, because it was only her with none of her friends, and because while she may have all the good traits of a friend, she doesn't represent all of them to their best. This leads me to believe, that potentially anypony could be able to use the elements, but it requires six good friends who represent the elements virtues to the best of their ability to use their true power. Twilight is best pony. Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to?
cmarston1 5,959 September 30, 2016 Share September 30, 2016 I kind of assume that Celestia and Luna each represented half of the elements of harmony.
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,730 October 1, 2016 Share October 1, 2016 I like Fhaolan's theory. Methinks she sent Luna to the moon because she couldn't utilize the Elements. I don't see even Celestia being THAT powerful. I would love to see some exploration into her own guilt for doing that. It was her only choice but maybe she could feel like it was her fault for not being able to use the elements to destroy the evil energy stuff. pony.colin 156 October 2, 2016 Share October 2, 2016 (edited) Honestly, I don't think she did. In my head that's why Nightmare Moon got exiled when Celestia did it, where the Mane 6 got a 'strip away all the evil' effect that was far more effective. The exile was because Celestia *couldn't* exercise the full power of the Elements. Another question. If Celestia had theoretically been able to utilize all the elements of harmony, would that have resulted in Nightmare Moon becoming a stoned statue instead of exile? Cause that's all I've seen those things do so far. If it's a user that botches using the elements it means exile? And a capable user of the elements that is able to utilize all of them is capable of stoning others? Either way results in bad news to the thing on the receiving end of the rainbow stare. Unlikeable Pony 2,698 October 3, 2016 Share October 3, 2016 Personally, I thought celestia lost her connection specifically because she DID NOT exemplify all the elements herself; basically, when luna and celestia fought the elements were willing to be used to seal luna away, but then "rejected" celestia and turned themselves into stone because celestia was both unable to represent all six properly and had proven herself essentially "unworthy" of being the EOH bearer by fighting with the other half of the EOH's bearer. They call me Loyalty 1,948 October 3, 2016 Share October 3, 2016 Probably she did. But you know how it's with mary sue characters. So I wouldn't worry too much.Celestia serves as a plot device with predilection for cake.
