Did gladmane's plot ressemble Sunset's from EQG to anyone else?

Is it just me or did gladmane's plot of telling other people "Hey, this OTHER person said something nasty about you the other second ago, super serial here!" remind anyone else of Equestria girls' plot being about sunset sending random texts to the mane six saying they were from one of the other mane six in order to drive them apart?


the two's modus operi just seemed kind of similar.

eventually, with different writers theres bound to be something a little similiar, to be honest equestria girls aren't exactly the best written movies.

I guess in the sense this was that story idea of the villain doing the dumb thing which is lie to keep the talent there rather than use contracts. There was no financial reason provided for him to do the dumb thing rather than the smart.

I never thought I'd find myself saying it, but Sunset's plan was actually smarter than Gladmane's, in that Sunset used hacked phones and whatnot to make it seem like the accusations and other fun things came from the person in question, whereas Gladmane was just acting like a go-between here.

 

That said, Gladmane's plan was different from Sunset's because Gladmane sought to befriend the 'spurned' ponies, while Sunset just wanted to drive them apart and nothing more. In short, similar, but not the same.
