Midnight Oil 5 October 4, 2016 Share October 4, 2016 Guys, I think I have cracked it. This theory explains everything. So you remember in Magical Mystery Cure during Celestia's ballad. 'You've come such a long long way. And I've watched you from that very first day.' ...WHY HAS NO ONE NOTICED THIS?????? What exactly does that even mean? At first I just thought she was referring to her first day of magic school but: 'To see how you might grow.To see what you might do.' What. So she has been watching Twilight since was a kid? But Twilight first met Celestia when she got her cutie mark right? So how could Celestia know about Twilight since her childhood? Cadence. I never really thought about how odd it was that Cadence was Twily's babysitter until Tommy Oliver pointed out, in his and Anthony C's review of A Canterlot Wedding, that Twily did not have a cutie mark in those scenes. So this was BEFORE the scenes shown in the Cutie Mark Chronicles. Why is a Princess babysitting a random child? A Princess who just so happens to be the adopted niece (is that even a thing?) of her future mentor? Is it really just because Cadence is 'civic minded' as AnthonyC suggests? I think most of you know where I'm going with this. Put simply: THAT CADENCE IS A SPY!!!! I had this theory kicking around for a while now but I never really took it to it's logical conclusion until I say Legend of The Everfree. And then it clicked. It always struck me as odd how Celestia behaved in the pilot. She poo-pooed the idea of Nightmare Moon returning in her letter to Twilight, telling her to 'makes some friends' instead. And what does she say after Twilight frees her sister from Nightmare Moon? 'I knew you could do it.' What. How?????? Can she see in to the future? Well not exactly. The reason she knew what would happen is because Twilight told her. Think about it, all the times Twilight has been in Mortal peril or Equestria was threatened by an evil force. Her seemingly incompetent behavior in A Canterlot Wedding, her apparently nonsensical plan in Twilight's Kingdom she knows because at some point Twilight traveled to the past and told her about it. And we've seen it happen. Ever thought it kinda weird that the human world also has a Canterlot? Or an Everfree Forest? Ever wondered why the cities in Equestria have similar names? Like if you asked a pony from say, Manehatten why the city is called that, what would they say? At some point Midnight Sparkle is going to come back. Possibly in the next Equestria Girls movie. And she's gonna bring about the magical apocalypse that turns humans into ponies and griffins et al. And of course Celestia and Luna into unicorns. Ever wondered why the tree of harmony has Twilight's cutie mark on it? Or why the founders of Equestria look so much like the mane six? Reincarnation, baby. The Tree of Harmony is self-aware and is re incarnating the mane six Cloud Atlas style. Why else would the ghosts of Smart Cookie and Chancellor Pudding-head( I have a theory that Future is actually Luna because she has dreamwalking abilities plus she may be a manifestation of Luna's suppressed self in the dreamescape) team up to help Snowfall Frost? They are redeeming themselves for their previous lives actions. And who could be in greater need of redemption than the person who brought about the destruction of human civilization? The pony who's hubris destroyed human civilization, reincarnated first as the founder of the next and second as the one to lead the nation she helped to create! That's right, all you bronies that were upset about them redeeming all the villians last season? This entire show has been one giant redemption story for the soul of Twilight Sparkle! *drops mic*

Hazard Time 1,127 October 4, 2016 Share October 4, 2016 Let me go through this. Firstly, Celestia's Ballad was more or less referring to the very beginning of the show, when Twilight arrived in Ponyville and was forced to make friends. That's why you see different scenes from past episodes playing in the background during the song's refrain. Celestia may have trained her in the ways of magic, but she didn't want another Starswirl. She wanted someone who was gifted with magic AND could understand the Magic of Friendship, and so began Twilight's three-year "thesis" on the Magic of Friendship. Secondly, the Canterlot Wedding episode had terrible writing. Cadance and Shining Armor came out of nowhere, and both were haphazardly inserted into the story. However, a good question you bring up is why is a princess babysitting a filly who has not yet demonstrated any sort of special ability? The only logical answer I can come up with is "because the writers said so, and if you want to sell a new toy, what better way to make kids want it than to say that she's good friends with one of the main characters AND is married to said main character's brother". Thirdly, my idea as to why Celestia denied the existence of Nightmare Moon was to keep Twilight focused. If she had confirmed her student's fears, then we all know that she would have spent every waking second trying to find a way to stop her return. As we all know in hindsight, that was impossible, and without the Mane 6 to wield the Elements of Harmony, Nightmare Moon would have won. So yes, Celestia did have a plan to defeat NMM that involved Twilight befriending Applejack, Fluttershy, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie Pie, but whether or not she knew them or their ability to wield the Elements of Harmony is anyone's guess. Fourthly, the EqG universe is just MLP:FiM except in a high school setting where everyone is a human. Also, most locations in Equestria are puns on existing cities because it's cute. Fifthly, Midnight Sparkle? Really? What makes you think she's going to come back? She only appeared in the third EqG movie and that was because of Sci-Twi absorbing all of the magic of the Mane 5. Sixthly, the Tree of Harmony having Twilight's cutie mark is an interesting question, but let's not forget that the keys to open the Rainbow Power box were all shaped like the Mane 6s' cutie marks. Whether or not you interpret that as "they are the chosen ones" or "it's a kids show with occasional lazy writing" is up to you. Seventhly, the creators of Equestria looked like the Mane 6 BECAUSE THE MANE SIX WERE PLAYING THEM IN A PAGEANT. Could they have looked just like them? Possibly, but there's nothing in the show canon to prove that. Eighthly, same as above with the pastiche-Christmas Carol episode. Conclusion: I believe that you're finding a deeper meaning where there isn't one. 1 Roleplaying for Eight Years and Counting! Midnight Oil 5 October 5, 2016 Author Share October 5, 2016 Let me go through this. Firstly, Celestia's Ballad was more or less referring to the very beginning of the show, when Twilight arrived in Ponyville and was forced to make friends. That's why you see different scenes from past episodes playing in the background during the song's refrain. But she wan't in the first half of the pilot. She didn't show up until the very end. Celestia may have trained her in the ways of magic, but she didn't want another Starswirl. She wanted someone who was gifted with magic AND could understand the Magic of Friendship, and so began Twilight's three-year "thesis" on the Magic of Friendship. My theory is that she knew about Twilight from her days in Canterlot High. She was keeping an eye out for a pony named Twilight who looked like the girl she met centuries ago. Secondly, the Canterlot Wedding episode had terrible writing. No argument there. Wasn't a fan of MMC either. True, but the fact remains that she was Twilight's babysitter before Twilight got her CM. Hence my predestination paradox theory. Which does have some support in canon. (It's About Time) Fourthly, the EqG universe is just MLP:FiM except in a high school setting where everyone is a human. Also, most locations in Equestria are puns on existing cities because it's cute. What's the in universe explanation, though? Unless it's a pun on Manhattan in universe too which doesn't make sense unless you buy into my theory. Fifthly, Midnight Sparkle? Really? What makes you think she's going to come back? Because she said so herself. She only appeared in the third EqG movie and that was because of Sci-Twi absorbing all of the magic of the Mane 5. Someone hasn't seen Legend of The Everfree. Sixthly, the Tree of Harmony having Twilight's cutie mark is an interesting question, but let's not forget that the keys to open the Rainbow Power box were all shaped like the Mane 6s' cutie marks. Those were Friendship Horcruxes, though, not ancient artifacts like the TOE. Whether or not you interpret that as "they are the chosen ones" or "it's a kids show with occasional lazy writing" is up to you. I don't need your permission to over analyze pony things. Seventhly, the creators of Equestria looked like the Mane 6 BECAUSE THE MANE SIX WERE PLAYING THEM IN A PAGEANT. Could they have looked just like them? Possibly, but there's nothing in the show canon to prove that. First, there is no need for shouting. Second, we see snowstorms and windigoes that look a little beyond the SFX budget of of an off-Bridleway production company. Thirdly, there is evidence. The episode transitions from the play to the actual events several times in the episode. Eighthly, same as above with the pastiche-Christmas Carol episode. That wasn't a play. Conclusion: I believe that you're finding a deeper meaning where there isn't one. Well, you haven't given me any rebuttal other than 'IT'S A GURLS CARTOON STOOPID!!!!' Hazard Time 1,127 October 7, 2016 Share October 7, 2016 (edited) Well, you haven't given me any rebuttal other than 'IT'S A GURLS CARTOON STOOPID!!!!' That's kinda the only rebuttal I can give. My Little Pony is no Steven Universe or Gravity Falls. While it is intelligent, the show staff have not demonstrated a huge amount of subtlety, and the writing continues to be at the whim of whatever new toy line Hasbro puts out. I still stand by my original conclusion that you're looking way too deep into this. While I will concede on the issue of Midnight Sparkle as I haven't seen Legend of Everfree, the fact of the matter is that the EqG universe is not canon to the FiM universe. While Midnight Sparkle might appear in the show (much like how Flash Sentry did), it's highly unlikely that the events of EqG will be referenced. Anyway, I'll go through your other responses and debunk them. But she wan't in the first half of the pilot. She didn't show up until the very end. Just because she says she was "watching" doesn't mean she was literally hiding in some bushes while Twilight was making friends around Ponyville. I feel like you're taking that too literally. What she most likely meant was she put Twilight on the path and waited to see what would become of it. She wasn't there to experience everything that happened, but she had plenty of evidence, such as the fact that Twilight was successful in forming the Elements of Harmony and the letters she would write to her at the end of every episode. All of this gave Celestia a pretty good indication of how she was progressing and when she could be assured that she was ready to ascend. My theory is that she knew about Twilight from her days in Canterlot High. She was keeping an eye out for a pony named Twilight who looked like the girl she met centuries ago. While you're entitled to your headcanon, there is no Canterlot High School in the show. Also, if she knew her name and what she looked like, then why did she still have to take a magical test to get into Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, especially when Princess Cadance had been babysitting her? What's the in universe explanation, though? Unless it's a pun on Manhattan in universe too which doesn't make sense unless you buy into my theory. The names of the cities are all puns on existing cities because it's creative and gives the writers the basis of a culture so they don't have to spend time making up a new one. There is no in-universe explanation, and I don't need to accept your headcanon for it to make sense. I don't need your permission to over analyze pony things. You got me there. First, there is no need for shouting. Second, we see snowstorms and windigoes that look a little beyond the SFX budget of of an off-Bridleway production company. Thirdly, there is evidence. The episode transitions from the play to the actual events several times in the episode. Have you ever seen Muppet Treasure Island or The Muppet Christmas Carol? All of the muppets play various characters from each story. Going by what you have claimed, then, I must assume that Captain Abraham Smollett looked like Kermit the Frog? Or that Emily Cratchit looked like Miss Piggy? In both the Hearth's Warming Eve pageant and the not-Christmas Carol story, the characters were simply inserting themselves into the story, and the only way for your headcanon to make sense is if Chancellor Puddinghead, Princess Platinum, and Commander Hurricane were literally Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash. If that's the idea you're trying to push, I have no evidence to accept that. Also, a little off-topic, but as a biochemistry major, your use of "theory" is very incorrect. A theory is not just an idea, it is a general hypothesis backed up by a great body of evidence from which many more specific hypotheses can be explored. All of the evidence you have provided is simply conjecture, but to be fair, so is some of mine. We can sit here arguing headcanons all day and none of it would matter until someone of any clout, such as a Hasbro executive or DHX writer, came in to say such-and-such is canon. cider float 2,538 October 9, 2016 Share October 9, 2016 I think Celestia saw the need for taking Twilight under her wing when she saw the cutie mark that Twilight had when she cracked that dragon egg because Twilight's cutie mark is also found on the root of the Tree of Harmony. simba86 1,541 October 9, 2016 Share October 9, 2016 (edited) or maybe it just is what it is and nothing more, hasbro uses it to sell toys, I doubt they care to spend money going that in depth with spies and reincarnation because there is no need to. people keep looking for deeper meanings that are not there and don't need to be there and remember Celestia - please do not drop the microphones: Edited October 9, 2016 by simba86 It's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!
