@@asdfmovienerd39, Crystal was flustered, she also noticed how Deadpan didn't add anything to the coffee. Which was, odd. She was blushing, but that blush went away with that joke Deadpan just told. It was just, no. "Thanks, I guess I can be hard on myself at times." She teleported onto the other side of the counter, turning around to face Deadpan. "But that joke." She shivered. "It was..." She paused, thinking she could lighten the blow by complementing the joke instead, that or she actually said what she thought about it. The pause was awkwardly long sos he just had to continue before it got even more awkward. "Bad."

"O-Oh....nobody's ever actually said that before..." Deadpan muttered, looking genuinely sad and hurt by that insult against his jokes. He quickly shook his head and turned around, then started to clean the counter. He was oddly quiet, and he just seemed to be staring at nothing while he was cleaning.

@@asdfmovienerd39, Crystal staid rather quiet, taking a bite out of the cupcake she hadn't finished. She almost forgot it was there. She looked at Deadpan, her ear turned towards him as he spoke. "We're all allowed to make unfunny jokes." She placed her cupcake down. "Sorry if I hurt your feelings." She said before taking another bite of her cupcake, then sipping the coffee. "I'd understand if you don't want to forgive me. Ponies don't like their jokes bean-ing torn down." She couldn't believe she had just torn down his joke, only to use it herself, she internally face hoofed at the irony. She turned to him with a wink, hoping that cheered him up, she did hate hurting ponies feelings, Velvet had given her that part of her personality.

"It's fine, don't worry."

 

He is not offended for any longer. He sees how of an apologetic Mare Zen is, and is rather surprised with her actions towards him. He looks around to see if anyone else is around, perhaps one of those mane 6 elements. He wants to meet Twilight. 

 

"I can sense your thoughts. And I'm sorry to disappoint but none of the Mane Six are around. Heck, this café is completely empty save for me, the owner, you, and Crystal." Zen explained.

 

 

@@asdfmovienerd39, Crystal staid rather quiet, taking a bite out of the cupcake she hadn't finished. She almost forgot it was there. She looked at Deadpan, her ear turned towards him as he spoke. She leaned in as a thought occurred. "Unless of course, this is your business."

"Well thats kinda odd, how far are we from ponyville?"

 

He is now starting to get curious. He wants to know where ponyville is and how far it is from where they are. Gordan is surprised about Zen's ability to sense someone's thoughts and read their minds, and is sort of confused as to how.

 

"We are...currently about two miles west of Ponyville. Probably not the best place to open a restaurant, I'll admit." Zen laughed. "And I assure you, my telepathy is due to my psychic powers.

"Nah, this is just me doin' somethin' quitter. 'Cause I'm retired from my original business, which was stand up comedy. I quit with it ever since...Nah, you probably don't wanna hear it."

"Yeah probably... I kinda don't feel like walking that far so I will hang out here for a while, Psychic powers?"

 

He thinks about hugging Twily and then his eyes dart around randomly and he is now someone frantic. He thinks about eating more of that cherry pie, since he liked it. 

 

"Yes. They were something I was apparently born with, but I hadn't been able to use it until..." she paused, a frown very clearly evident on her face, "...until ​they ​attacked." Zen had hoped he caught on to what she said, as she didn't really feel like explaining her past yet again.

"Yes... It is unfortunate how you had to go through that..."

 

He feels kind of bad for what Zen had to go through, He doesn't come from ponyville and is just stopping by. He comes from a similar sized town further south and fables the time he will meet twilight. 

 

"Well, I suppose every grey cloud has a silver lining. I can now use my  psychic abilities and help other ponies now!" Zen smiled. "It may be a payless job but one I'm the best suited for." Zen really did like helping people, even before....that attack. She would pitch in at local charities, do volunteer work for the stores and other departments, and sometimes even helped educate the teachers.

"I'm certainly not old but all that tourin' and stuff was doin' an number on my body. Plus not to mention it was taking away hours I could be spending with loved ones." he explained, then took a sip of his own coffee as well.

 

"....Was the joke honestly THAT bad?" he asked.

"Okay, you're right. I wouldn't be good at comedy routines."  She said turning her head away from Deadpan. "Anyways, the joke wasn't that bad, and thinking over it again, my only problem with it was the lack of context for me." She looked at the coffee, suddenly getting the joke, well that was unless she was wrong she'd have make sure; "Unless of course the context was coffee beans."

She chuckled at the possibility of her own joke, which would be stealing his joke, again, but she had to make it. "It couldn't of bean any better than it was." She said with a snicker. "Okay, you're right. I wouldn't be good at comedy routines."  She said turning her head away from Deadpan. "Anyways, the joke wasn't that bad, and thinking over it again, my only problem with it was the lack of context for me." "The whole joke itself is coffee beans. I thought you'd have picked up on that. And kid, I said you'd be good in showbiz. One of the most guaranteed ways to gain  success in my business is to copy from someone ya hate. 'Course, I never did that. My jokes are all original." Deadpan explained.

 

 

"Indeed, my friend."

 

Gordan orders another cherry pie with a glass of water, he then waits for it to get delivered, he is seen waiting at the counter for it, anxious to taste more of it and to get its energy. He thinks cherry pie is delicious. It is one of his favorite foods afterall.

 

"You really enjoy cherry pie, huh? Can't say I blame you. It is rather tasty." Zen smiled as she teleported to the kitchen then back to Gordan a couple of minutes later with a water and another cherry pie.

"Kid, I only use sarcasm when on Wednesdays, Fridays, and non-religious holidays." Deadpan chuckled. "Sarcasm's really only funny in small doses. And usually only works when you got an idiot to bounce off of. And you're about as far from an idiot as you can get. And yeah, we do." Deadpan grinned as he just put the coffee cup under the counter then lifted it up and handed it back to Crystal, the cup somehow getting full.

She took the coffee mug, the thanks going for both the compliment and coffee, a blue aura surrounding the mug as she levitated the mug to herself. "So..." She wanted to keep talking, but topics were running short. "You didn't seem to react that dramatically when I meanted that I write the Shadow Spade series earlier."

"....Would it offend you if I told you I never heard o' that before? What is that, some sort of Carmen Sandiago parody?" Deadpan asked, his voice sounding genuinely curious and not at all sarcastic in the slightest. He really had no idea what this 'Shadow Spade' series was.

"It's a mystery book series, I've only heard of two ponies who've read it, maybe three if I count Twilight Velvet." She explained with a shrug, sipping her coffee. "There's probably a copy of it in one of the Canterlot libraries here."

 

"Well this ain't Canterlot. The closest down is Ponyville." Deadpan explained with a grin on his face as he continued drinking some of his coffee. Truthfully he felt bad for not knowing what 'Shadow Spades' is, or was. Although that wasn't showing on his face.

"I hadn't explored the town here much. I didn't spot a library." She turned around to the window behind her. "Well, there was that one library I used to go to here in Ponyville. But Tirek destroyed it." She said with a sigh, turning around to Deadpan. "Thinking about it, I haven't yet signed anything that allows me to sell it here." She shrugged after saying that looking down to her coffee. "Well, Canterlot is a good enough place to sell things." She looked up to Deadpan. "You should try to grab a lot there. It'd help your business."

"Psh, that frou-frou fancy posh town full o' unicorns with their heads so far up their own flanks they walk like they haven't taken a crap in three weeks? Trust me, they're about as far from my kinda food as they can get." he rambled. Obviously he had a...disdain for Canterlot, putting it lightly. "Plus, it's way too expensive. I mean, who in their right mind would pay thousands of bits for a single block of cheese covered in orange goop with one garnish put on top? I sure wouldn't."

She said bluntly, sipping her coffee, whilst giving him a stern stare. She put her coffee mug down. "Being from there, I can understand why they act uptight, a pony like you; Can't." She took another sip of her coffee. "It can be expensive though, my business is run from my home. making it less expensive than renting an empty lot." She let out a sigh, before sipping her coffee again, she'd already started to notice she was running out of it. @@asdfmovienerd39, Crystal looked offended, and unsure how she should react to that. She just let some awkward silence fall upon the two, for a full minute. "I'm from Canterlot." She said bluntly, sipping her coffee, whilst giving him a stern stare. She put her coffee mug down. "Being from there, I can understand why they act uptight, a pony like you; Can't." She took another sip of her coffee. "....Oh. Sorry. In all honesty, I'm probably a bit biased against it 'cause one of my four ex marefriends lives there and she's the only one that I caught cheating on me. So it's probably just bitterness from past relationships. That said, they could learn to loosen up a little. Not you though, you're actually pretty cool." Deadpool smiled sheepishly. "Plus you gotta  admit their food sucks."

"Hmm..." Deadpan stroked his chin with his hoof, as if thinking. It took a few minutes, but he finally gave an answer. "Nah, I ain't gonna charge ya for more of a drink you've already ordered. So...free. Don't get carried away now, if you order something different that WILL affect your bill."

@@asdfmovienerd39, Crystal smirked. "So if I ordered another cup of coffee, instead of a refill. It'd count to my bill?" She thought aloud, sounded weird to say, then again, having free refills still had it's grey areas for whether or not it was priced. "Interesting." She looked at her empty coffee mug. "I think I've had enough coffee to be honest." She pushed the mug further ahead, not too much, knowing that may cause it to fall. She turned around. "I'm also running out of things to talk about..." She gave the menu a look over one last time, wanting to try some more things. "Many of these things on the menu, I've had before from Ponyville and Canterlot restaurants. What makes them different here?" She internally sighed in relief, something to talk about, although it Might not last long as a subject.
