What do you think about obama?

I pretty much considered Obama to be an extension of the Bush administration, at least in terms of foreign policy. Economically, he was just another run of the mill neoliberal politician.

I will however give credit where it's due. I agreed with his decision to open up relations with Cuba.

I put him in the category of: "Not as bad as Hillary, but still don't like him at all."

All the drone strikes, all the TPP nonsense, oh and let us not forget about a quite reasonably unpopular healthcare plan that is just more evidence we have a system laden with corruption. Though I'll tell you Trump being president in the first place is proof of the latter as well, among a heck of a lot of other things.

I swear this country hasn't had a decent president since LBJ, and even then he sent our troops into Vietnam for the stupid political agenda that's so obvious in modern politics to anybody who isn't blinded by propaganda so there's that.

A nice guy and an intelligent human being. He'd be a cool dude to hang out with.

But his economic policies did some damage. He added more to the US debt than any previous president. Future generations will not be happy with him knowing that he spent the money they were supposed to have.

Partially due to inflation and partially due to policies already in place from Bush Jr. (you know all the military spending $#!+), but yeah he did a LOT of damage to the economy. So did Reagan though interestingly enough, and yet he's worshipped all the time. Forgetting he still has the third highest debt contribution of any president not including Trump. And factoring in inflation, he did more damage than even Bush Jr. did.

I guess all of that was acceptable back when we had a healthier economy. Not so much in a post recession world with a more frugal generation.

Yeah well, that doesn't excuse the fact Reagan is the president pretty much behind the absolutely terrible economic policies that Republicans today seem to be all about. So in a way it could be argued he probably caused a lot of the debt we have today with his economic policies becoming the Republican norm.

But he becomes a "great president" because what? An compromise with the Soviets that was rather EASY in hindsight?

I'm not an american but I do like and have respect for Obama. He is normal human being, respects others, actually knows how to run a country, doesn't peddle dumb/disproven conspiracy theories like you know who - trump, actually admits he makes mistakes and actually tries to fix them or do better next time. Well I could go on but this about sums it up.

He was far from my favorite president, but I'd prefer him over Hillary, Bernie, et. al. Mitt Romeny or John McCain were better candidates.

I find Obama to be no more hypocritical than other establishment politicians, lecturing us on things like global warming and wealth inequality. And then he buys an eight-figure house in Martha’s Vineyard which is susceptible to coastal flooding and hurricanes. He did follow through on some promises as president (pulling out of Iraq) although some of his inaction made things worse (the rise of ISIS). He also had some mixed priorities, saying he had doubts about the NDAA and then signing it anyway.

As a person, he’s a mixed bag. He’s got charisma and a good sense of humor. However, he’s also said some pretty selfish things like pleading with voters to elect Hillary because “it will affect [him] personally.” He also sarcastically thanked Red Sox fans at Fenway for giving his hometown team (the White Sox) one of their star players in a trade.

I think that Obama, at least during the last years of his term, became kind-of ineffective and indecisive. How many "red lines" did he draw for Syria? He waited long enough for Assad to call Russia for help and then, of course, he couldn't really do anything anymore.

No. Obama's behavior in my example above suggests that he doesn't believe in either, and he should be the last person to lecture common people on what he thinks.

I'd be careful with making such assumptions solely based on (i assume so) private purchases.

At the very least, I think his politic did show he concerns for that stuff

Actions speak louder than words, but unfortunately there are worse hypocrites than Obama. If elitist celebrities and politicians want to lecture us on doing our part, then they should realize they’re not immune from criticism either. They’re not doing the world any favors flying around in private planes.

Plus, the oil industry thrived under Obama who has unabashedly supported fracking.

I don't get how you are a Trump supporter when reading this.

I feel the same way about "environmentalists" supporting Obama, knowing he was and still is a "do as I say, not as I do" politician.
